I absolutely love the game of ESO. It's hands down the best game ever created in my opinion. However, perennial performance issues are crushing peoples ability to play and enjoy the game as intended.
How many would buy this game and expansions all over again if they rebuilt it around a modern game engine and solved the performance issues once and for all? In my opinion, they only have a couple more patches before they're going to have to admit to themselves a ground up rebuild is necessary and worth the investment.

✭✭NoNo, because a game is more than the engine it was made on. No game has magically had its problems solved by trying to implement another engine (and essentially rebuild the game from scratch for no reason).
ESO's problems stem from terrible management and overly greedy gamble-crate buffoons after an easy cash-grab for minimal effort or quality.16 -

A new game engine isn't an excuse for almost 6 years of mediocre-poor performance.
If ZOS wish to upgrade ESO to a new game engine they are welcome to do so

✭✭NoNo I would expect them to do the exact same thing they did just recently with this re download the game they made us all do.
If they were to just re make the game as an upgrade of what it already is I would expect it to be given to all the people who have already bought and supported the game via sub and the crown store over the years.
However if they were to make a brand new game with completely new content I might buy it after seeing the reviews.
That said I have no desire to start fresh in an ESO 2 anytime soon, would rather they just fix the performance issues in ESO than try to put it in the too hard basket and move on.4 -

Wasn't final fanstasy rebuilt from the ground up and re-released? ...and I think there are some very good reasons to begin a ground up rebuild of ESO.3 -

You know what those paragraphs say to me?
It says that ZoS had/has someone who actually knows what they are doing involved.
Why? Because the areas they have identified and wrote about are STRONG contenders to improve performance.
The solutions they have then supplied are strong and well-worded solutions to these issues.
It takes a good level of skill to even IDENTIFY and WRITE those words they have written.
It then takes another level of skill to then determine that, yes, we CAN achieve these on top of our current engine.
That fact says good things about the engine. The fact they are ABLE to make such large refactors to it means the quality is actually some level of decent.
Multithreading is really difficult. To be able to multithread as much as they are aiming for is a really good thing.
It means they have engineers that are a decent enough skill level to know HOW to refactor the code base to accomplish this.
So no, they don't need a new team or a new engine.

It would depend entirely on the monetization. I never would have picked this game up if I knew how bad the monetization was going to get. And I wouldn’t buy it today if it had all the monetization it does at present. They would need to return to a more ethical monetization model for me to buy in, and... sadly I just don’t see that happening.3 -

Unless something went really wrong with the way it looked, or our characters looked (not that they look perfect now!), or something.
However, if it really was just a continuation of the current game and not a completely new game, I would want all progress and purchases (including decorated houses) carried over.
I have only been back for 2.5 years and would not be at all happy to just leave everything behind and start over, from scratch.

I don't think switching teams, all the time, really helps.
If, just as they're getting to grips with how everything works, they are fired and replaced, all the time, that isn't going to get us anywhere.

Admittedly I have not ventured into Cyro lately but I have done all types of PVE stuff with no issue.
I am genuinely curious why some people have horrible problems and others have none, I've been in groups where everyone is DC-ing and I don't, what is the factor that causes that?
I run 10-15 addons most are map/discovery related or trading(MM and TTC), is it addons causing issues? My PC is 2yrs old but was top notch back then and I have 32gb of ram...…. I often wonder if that ram is what keeps me in game when others crash.

✭✭✭✭I'm still not gonna make any judgments until they have completed ALL of the performance project. They have completed 1 out of 4. Yeah, it's gonna take a year to complete, but That is when I will evaluate things. Makes no sense tom complain at this point when we know they have not finished this project.
