That is because of the deadly contagion that has been spreading around. WHO advises players to disperse, avoid public spaces and not cluster around wayshrines as usual, preferably not use them at all unless necessary (and use hand sanitizer afterwards). Also, 12 man trials have been banned altogether and 4 man dungeons are now for duo only.

I started a new character, it’s been years since I played the beginning and have roamed Auridon the last couple of nights. It’s not empty, but there are no way near as many others as there used to be.
The re-visit also makes it painfully clear how under nurtured the zones are. It’s everything from small glitches, like the npc having a fast run before getting to the point, to storylines that doesn’t make sense if one has a soul. But also in pve the stability is weird. It seems as if my horse is slower? It seems as if I’m sometimes experiencing I’m running slower? Skills that has to be repeatedly pressed before firing
I’m guessing it’s monday or a new world for quite a lot
Only regular ESO players know how bad it is. But the public does not. I see game magazines and shows praising it still. Because they only play some to film footage for their videos.
The propaganda for this game is still strong and outsiders still think it is great and shiny. Although it is but a weathered branch compared to the golden days. How ESO ever won game of the year after 2015, I shall never understand.

This. It's mind blowing to me. I was just reading an article in Game Informer (I think) talking up Harrowstorm and just read an online article how ESO is better then Skyrim. Not a single mention of how abysmal ESO performance is or how the game gets worse with each patch. They definitely do a great job promoting the game.

Edit: 2 dps and tank, not 2 healers (duh lol)

Mount speed got a nerf for some odd reason.
I have been playing MMOs since 2003 and won’t jump ship to New World unless/until it’s proven itself for at least six months. So many MMOs have come out promising to be the next big thing, only to release as total trash and fall flat on their face.
Not that that makes the game irredeemable. Let’s be honest - even ESO did this, it launched a buggy mess with 1/3rd of the quests not working, players isolated and bored in vet levels 1-14, Craglorn was awful, and it was just “ehh, better than Warlords of Draenor I guess” until it saved itself with One Tamriel. And FFXIV’s fall and rise is so dramatic and legendary, it doesn’t even need an explanation.
As someone who’s retired from vet trials/mmo raiding in general and doesn’t pvp, I’m happy puttering around questing, housing, making gold just to make it, and 100%ing the world on alts. But the PvE endgame is shallow and the PvP endgame is a trainwreck. Neither camp should stand for it’s current state.
