I had eso+ auto renew turned off in my PS4 settings. After update, the setting was changed to ON. I only found out AFTER noticing crowns on my in-game account.
Furthermore, the funds were taken 2 days before my renewal date. No notification, no email, nothing. This is the second time you’ve taken earlier than you should have.
Players, please check your settings if you have auto renewal set to OFF and make sure it’s still set to OFF. Don’t get surprised like I did.

✭✭✭Can you please give a screenshot or tell us where ESO+ now has an "auto renew option"?
I looked everywhere, ingame and under PS4 account settings,
but I cannot find such an option on PS4 EU.
I agree that adding such an option and set it silently to "on" would not be acceptable.
I sub during autumn&winter and never had a problem with ESO+.
In case ESO+ suddenly would auto renew itself for spring&summer, I would be furious too.0 -

✭✭✭Thanks for the clarification, it is as I thought:
On PS4 EU (Germany) there is no such option.
It never has been, otherwise I would have noticed.
The only option there is the one for "Playstation Plus", as always.
Therefore, I assume the auto-renew option for ESO has been added for PS4 NA only.
And it is has nothing to do with the patch, because it only affects your ESO account, not the game.
So it probably is a pure Sales Deciscion by ZOS NA to enforce auto-renew on their customers...1 -
Avoranti✭✭✭✭✭You have to click into the Ps+ sub to see the eso+ sub. But either way, I had it set to off and AFTER the game update I was charged for 3months of ESO+ which btw was 2 days early. I most likely would have renewed on my own anyway but that isn’t the point. The whole reason I turned it off to begin with was because last time, I was charged early.0
