No Maintenance on PC upcoming week

It's going to be two weeks since Harrowstorm and the game still has horrible desync and stability issues. Skills won't cast, instances are buggy, there are still some random crashes, boss and add positions desync and they rubberband all over the place. Bossfights feel so clunky and slow it's really a chore to raid at the moment. The Necromancer changes to blastbones have not addressed the issues the skill had at all (which was obvious). The class is soon a year old and still a buggy mess.

At this point "performance patch" has become a meme. Overall I do have better FPS so I guess you accomplished something, but it's just worthless if the game won't run properly at all. I'd take prepatch performance any day over this.

Now it seems like there is not even a maintenance next week. Do you have any ETA when you will attempt to fix this?

It's still a shame that after 2 weeks we get no fixes for the notoriously annoying issues. I don't have them nearly as much when I parse, but on actual fights in raids ults won't cast, hail won't cast, blastbones won't cast, not to mention siphon. Everything feels like playing on 500+ ping (even though I don't have above 120 now, and it was the same a couple of days ago when I had a stable 60). As much as I like my stamcro it's incredibly frustrating to play like this, I'd have expected at least some attempts at fixing it :|

Thank you. The post still leaves open whether or not the incremental patch will address the issues we currently have though. From what else I read in the devtracker it's the usual "we're looking into it" which means we can suffer from this a couple more weeks. Guess that's it for my sub then.

Why would they give a definite time for something that isn't fixed yet? Or might not be fixable and need a different solution entirely? They get dumped on no matter what they do.

    Hi everyone,

As you may have noticed, we recently adjusted the maintenance banners to indicate there is no longer a PC incremental patch scheduled for Monday, March 9. While we were performing final checks for the build this afternoon, we noticed one of the fixes was causing some new issues affecting combat. We have made the decision to delay the incremental patch until we're able to fix this issue and ensure the patch is stable.

We’ll let you know when we have a new date scheduled for the patch.

I don't know anything about coding, but it seems to me that they could have just not implemented the part of the patch that would have potentially affected combat? Unless all the parts of any given patch are coded into one another, but at that point couldn't they just recode the current patch to remove whatever part might cause problems? It seems there are better ways of handling this than just saying "no patches/maintenance" for an indefinite amount of time.

At least they did communicate the fact to us this time instead of just canceling the maintenance without any word as to why.

Well iirc the desync issues we had post-Elsweyr took them what, more than a month to fix? And they were a lot lighter than this so there's a good chance that this is also far more complex to fix so it'll take them more than two weeks to do so.

The post from Gina said they aren't releasing it Monday and will instead be waiting to release it once they're certain it won't cause any problems. But I don't understand why they don't just remove the part that's causing issues, unless that is indeed what they intend to do. Gina's wording made it sound like they're going to withhold it until the entire thing works though, rather than snipping whatever's causing the problems and putting that in a future patch. I suppose part of delaying the patch is to find out exactly what part is causing said problems, though. Can't remove what's making things borked if they don't know what's doing it.

I wish they’d revert update 25 because combat is BROKEN at this point. Create a working version of 25 THEN release it.

My toon simply does not do the things it could do fighting in 24. Skills just aren’t reliably firing off, block drops. Leap takes 4 or 5 tries before it goes off. IF it goes off. And IF it does it’s SLOW.

Cyro is just not rewarding. Even outside of primetime. The countless issues (mentioned in countless threads) even occur in PvE. So, when I’m PvEing because I stopped pvping and they occur, it reminds me why I’m not PVPING.

It’s not fun...Greymoor ain’t nothing to look forward to. I pre-ordered and torn between getting that refunded. I like the game; but it’s just not fun. Maybe it will be again; but, who knows. At this point it’s become “not worth the money.”

I’m looking around at other games. I mean I dropped 100 bucks on RDR2 last night. Played it some. I WANT to play ESO but I don’t know if I’m going to tonight...

I’m pretty grateful that they aren’t patching today, after discovering that the planned patch introduces more issues. We’re all anxious for a fix, but putting more bad code just for the sake of doing something is not the answer.

You know, if there was a psychic or two working for ZOS who could accurately give definite dates and times for exactly when they will fix all the current ongoing issues, none of them would be bothering to work for ZOS.....they'd be buying powerball lottery tickets and winning billions of dollars.

The only information they can give is that they know about the issues, and they are working on the issues and will update as soon as possible.

It is pointless for them to state "Issue X will be fixed at 1:45 pm on March 9th", and find out that the fix breaks something else. Its happened before. And people have ranted before that the fix to the issue required an unplanned maintenance for a hotfix to fix the new issue the original fix broke. They are damned if they do, and damned if they don't; even if they do announce something, people complain they don't believe the information anyway.

I think it’s great that ZOS have recognised the various issues players have had with Update 25 and that they’re trying to address them. I also think it’s great that they have both the capability to recognise when a potential solution they are working on might actually not improve things and the courage to not implement that just for the sake of having an update.

It’s obvious that getting combat right and resolving the various issues people have with it is a complex issue, which will take time to resolve and which benefits from having a very ordered development process. It’s also obvious that the live environment introduces a level of complexity that ZOS are unable to fully plan for or test against.

Some players seem to have an unrealistic idea of how long it takes to resolve any issue. I don’t think there is much benefit in players demanding that ZOS provides arbitrary ‘deadlines’ for results as this will not benefit the development process and will only result in players becoming more negative should the ‘deadlines’ be missed for whatever reason. Asking when all the issues will be fixed is like asking how long an argument could last - think of a number and double it and you might be close.

The only bad thing about rolling back the current update is they might also have to roll back everyone's accounts too. I'm not sure if 'reverting' back to u24 can be done without touching the rest of the game. For people having a lot of problems they might be willing to give up several weeks of progress to play the game, but the people not having issues would likely put up quite a fuss.

Now if they can roll back to a previous update without affecting our accounts and stuff, then they 100% should do it. I got caught on an infinite loading screen twice today trying to log in to the game; performance, right? Improvements to load times, right? It sure doesn't feel like it most of the time.

LOL. The fact you had to state you were aware of Gina's thread more than once shows the importance of conveying a clear message, to begin with, and editing that message when it is pointed out it lacks such clarity. Odd that you found the need to point out others noted the deficiencies before I did.
