Enchanting the Signet of the Dragonguard (ring)

Why can’t I enchant this ring?

Do you have any jewelry specific glyphs?

Enchantment level is probably over the level of the item you're trying to enchant. Make sure to double check not only the level, but the CP level too.

Have glyphs. Ring is 160. Tried various levels. Does not say glyph wrong. There is no option for enchanting on menu.

Which glyphs are you attempting to use?
  • VenuvianRaider
Not relevant. When selected, there IS NO OPTION given to enchant although the ring has an enchantment on it. Ring is 160 and I am trying to enchant with a Truly Superb Jewelry enchantment. Would send a picture if need be, but there really is no option to enchant as is given with all other rings (been doing this for a few years).

  • VenuvianRaider
    To clarify...

Jewelry Glyph trying to use is Truly Superb Glyph of increase Physical Harm Level 160.

The ring is a level 50 CP160 ring that is already enchanted with Stamina Recovery

When I hit Actions, there is NO option to enchant...only Unequip, Unlock, Link in Chat and Get Help.

So, there is a bit of a bug on this ring!

All other rings I have show Enchant when I hit Actions.

I seem to remember some complaints about this when the dlc launched. I suspect this item has a hidden flag that prevents replacing the enchantment, which I think is from a time when Maelstrom weapons had their unique effects from an enchantment. Practically I would just decon and get a different ring from the same set, they should be easy to buy, and not bad to farm from the dragons.
  • VenuvianRaider
Easy to buy at 40k for each ring and necklace..for 120k...Right! Both Dragonguard rings are the same. The neck and other Dragonguard pieces can be enchanted, so do not see where Dragonguard set is the problem.

I am not seeing prices anything like you are if I glance through pc/NA TTC data. It's looking like 2-5k for a purple. Note that the items not from the quest reward are called "Dragonguard Elite's Ring"
  • VenuvianRaider
I posted a pic on the bug report. Can’t seem to post one here in the reply. Not sure what you are referring to in the Dragonguard Elite’s Ring. Mine is the Signet of the Dragonguard (part of the Dragonguard Elete Set). Only problem with buying another one is they could have the same problem since you cannot tell until you try to enchant it. Will check again though on what prices I found with desired traits.

Signet of the Dragonguard is a ring from the Dragonguard Elite set, that is awarded for completing a quest in Southern Elsweyr. You can also get a ring from those sets from the dragons in the zone, and from the dailies, and probably from the chest in the sanctuary. A ring from any of those sources will be called 'Dragonguard Elite's Ring'. It is part of the same set. I am recommending that you use one from one of the other sources, as I suspect the problem is how the quest reward item is tagged in game. Traits should be robust on any of the rings.

Ah hah. Bought one Dragonguard Elite Ring (green). It can be enchanted. Found purple for 3,400. Thanks for the help. Still curious why Signet can’t be enchanted.

I believe unique named items are not able to be enchanted.

I don't think that's strictly true. I've replaced the enchantment on several named items from quest rewards and dungeon bosses, including the Argonian Muck Minder, Materres bodkin, Grievous Leeching Ward, Dremora Collar, Scamplords Signet, etc. Why this particular item is strangely behaved I'm not sure.
Edited to add: There was a northern Elsweyr quest reward ring, the hidden moon band, that had this same issue on release. It was fixed with Scalebreaker and is mentioned in the patch notes here https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/488626/pc-mac-patch-notes-v5-1-5-scalebreaker-update-23#latest
I would guess that this is basically the same error on the developer side, just this one hasn't been addressed yet.

I found a similar issue with one of the Elsweyr quest reward staves as well. It may be a new DLC issue.
