The community deserves to know what is being done about the horrible game performance. This was your "performance patch" its done nothing but make the game worse and we have gotten no response as to what is being done to fix it. Pvp is unplayable on PC NA, and I'm sure its even worse on the other platforms that are waiting for this patch that will probably make their consoles explode. We have given enough money to this company that we deserve a straight answer. Its not just pvp that's having issues end game pve is struggling because of the epic skill delay and inability to weave. I'm not going to sit here and name off all the issues just wanted to make a post where ZOS could give us a straight answer. I think we are all tired of being ignored.

Agreed but knowing ZoS skills on communication, we can expect this threads to be closed then the proper answer.
@ZOS_GinaBruno you acknowledge in the past that company communication was bad (multiple times actually) and you said that ZOS will improve in that department. Maybe it's time to do the first step, we really want to know WTF is going on and why your improvements make already weak performance even worse.

I'm as unsatisfied as most with ESO performance (and I play on PC-EU, if you know what I mean...) but targeting this patch in particular seems a bit misguided. This patch was about making the game folder smaller and improving load times. It was not a "performance patch". There are other actions planned for later this year.

This is not to say I have faith in ZOS' ability to deliver. I do not. My sub is cancelled as I wait to be proved wrong. It's understandable that people are upset and impatient when problems aren't fixed for years. But targeting this patch in your post could easily be answered with "we never said everything would be fixed in this patch".

Unfortunately, your only options are put up with it for as long as you still think it's worth it, or leave. If enough people are content to take the game as it is, not much will ever be done.

It would have been ok for me if the performance would have at least stayed at the bad pre-patch level. But it got so much worse.

Last night in cyrodill, some of my skills made no sound effects and the only way I could tell if it happened was when the damage numbers appeared next to the victim.

Also last night, in cyrodill, I stopped to pick a flower and a rune. Both times I didn't have to bend over, the flowers and runes jumped into my pocket while I stood there.

Zos cant fix whats wrong with pvp. If they could they would have by now. Accept the laggy mess or move on, those are the options zos has been telling us for years. SORRY

They haven't told us that EVER. I'd have a lot more respect for them if they did. This is fraud. They have called this the 'performance' patch for a year leading up to it, and performance is worse than its ever been. They won't acknowledge any of the problems the game is unplayable and they are still collecting peoples money. In any other business they would be prosecuted. We have put time and money into this game for years now we as a community at least deserve for someone with some kind of authority to get on the forums and at least admit they screwed up again. I don't know why the servers are eve up and running every aspect of the game except Rping in riften is in shambles.

I'm not white knighting here, but to be fair, this whole year is supposed to be about improving performance, not just this one patch. The roadmap they gave us toward the end of last year listed incremental changes working towards improved performance.

I totally agree that performance shouldn't get worse before it gets better, but this wasn't billed as the "end all, be all" performance patch.

I see alot of reasoning and assumptions in multiple threads that seem plausible. We even have some resident programmers that chime in surmising what the issues may be. What I rarely see is any fleshed out PR from ZOS over what's going on. Barring a once a year CON event or random video someone has to post up and remind everyone about from 2 years ago or whatever, the average player is left aloof wondering what in the world is going on. For me, 50% of the struggle is the actual issues of the game. But the other 50% are the rare bare minimum "by the way we know" comments they give us about the issues. If they were to have an honest and frank explanation of why all this is occurring and what they are (and can't) do to address it, I for one would then relax a bit. But when we have to forum surf and essentially self diagnose with little feedback except impersonal dev responses to our understandable frustrations? that seems pretty unprofessional.

This is a quote from the first paragraph of the patch notes:
Our biggest focus for this update was further improving game performance, with an emphasis on frame rate stability, ultimately resulting in fewer drops in your game’s framerate. The combat changes you’ll see support this goal, which you can read more about in this forum post.

So no, sorry. This *was* a "performance patch".

My big problem is their roadmap is bs and they constantly sneak change it.. Everything they are doing is client side. When all the issues are server side.. It will cost money to fix their sever side problems which they refuse to spend. They need to stand up and say that and quit blowing smoke up everyones you know what. In game changes is really the best we can hope for. Easy stuff like lowering group size in cyro, making healing and buffs only stack inside group. Incentivize people to spread out. These things imo would make a huge difference to sever performance inside cyro. Instead we get a bunch of tech jargon that means nothing. I haven't seen we thing in their "roadmap" that will make a difference to the server side issues. Not one.

I have given up hope that performance will ever be fixed inside cyrodiil, but there is ways to make it better. I just wish they would be transparent. I want to know their actual goals and if they believe they are reaching those goals. If there plan is to turn the game into an overland questing lore buff non combat mini game skyrim throwback. Then own it be honest. I started the thread hoping that someone from this company would step up and give us some actual answers.

This is a AAA company lol.. I know they aren't ever going to fix a server side problem with client side changes. Asking if we can get a semi playable game that isn't worse than when they started makes me a fool than I guess im a fool. You spending money on something that you expect not to work makes you a bigger one though I believe.

Well of course they can fix it. If any of the devs actually know their way around the code, it's fixable. I don't think the code is very pretty though, and time is money. And it's probably a lot of time so there'll be no ROI.

This isn't like some piece of software that runs a hospital. It's a game and nobody cares how it performs. Not even the makers.

I actually anticipated this patch having issues. The problem I run into is it seemed like ZOS did not anticipate it or at least, were not ready to react. A full week for the initial issue, and now looking like another week with another.

Given communication of "it has to go through QA" the first time with willful silence through the weekend; and now the communication is pretty much "we have seen your reports" and "I already said we have seen your reports" 2 days later on the new issue is equivalent of saying they're nowhere closer to a resolution.

So yes. A major client change will bring issues. The communication though, whether they realize it or not; feels like it's not really that urgent to them when its 2 days plus apart

I've heard rumors that ZOS doesn't fund ESO with its own money. Most of the money that ESO generates is being siphoned away from ESO to develop other projects like Redfall and Starfield. It would be nice to know that the money ESO makes is in fact going towards ESO, and not towards projects that most ESO players wouldn't care that much about. Redfall sure is at least the same genre, but Starfield holds no interest for myself personally. I doubt ZOS would ever admit that they were only giving ESO enough development budget to keep it alive, just so they could milk it for their "actual" projects.

Man with how many hardcore loyal (inspite of the treatment) players there are...if they came out and explained that and or other issues, I kinda feel like most of the community would do an about face and totally stand up for them. If they were to have the equivalent of a "ok ok lets sit down and i'll explain everything" I think that would GREATLY appease many (not all). I get it's a daunting project. I get they're low staffed (from what youtube personalities tell us per their observations). I get it's an outdated system they're trying their best to duck tape and MacGyver the hell out of. One CON event where they lay out things for quarters was a nice step. What I think many of us would like (at least after abysmal updates like this one) is a similarly well conveyed reply updating us. At my job screw ups happen. What gets people fired arent the mistakes but feigning things arent that bad and dropping vague rare explanations while the employee tries to cover up the mess they created.

They did improve the frame rate overall.

But the server latency is 2 to 3 times higher than before the patch. Skills are animating 3 or 4 times before they actually hit and do damage, some never fire at all.

Although we can, and many of us will, wait for fixes, the Twitch streamers cannot. Fengrush is done. Dottz has moved onto BDO. Alcast has pronounced combat in ESO broken. These are the game's ambassadors.

Personally I'm watching the two guilds I care about drift away from this game. And we stick with a game, long term, due to the relationships we've made.

I'm a retired online game dev and I have NEVER encountered a dev team that failed to care to the point of utter distress when the product they strove to improve performed horribly. It's not a 40 hour a week job. It's not a job you took because you couldn't get work at another tech company. It's a calling and an all-consuming passion.

Thus the failure here is not a lack of willingness to improve the game and serve its customers. It's a communications failure.

You aren't entitled to a thing actually....

PvP NA PC is not unplayable. When I've been in since the patch been mostly fine. Unplayable means you can't get in, or if you do you can't do anything. If you get an dare fine for a couple hours than crash, that's completely playable
