Do you want more RP content in ESO? Don't get me wrong, I love this game so far (issues and all) but player to player interactions are very limited, and player to environment interactions are half done it seems (why can't I eat while sitting?). There is a great foundation here for more immersive content. What kind of non-combat skills/mechanics would you like to see?

For example, a Bard skill line/mechanic: learn new songs, instruments, and dances. You can find "motifs" to unlock said things, and maybe even add a Bards Guild, or a similar equivalent (even if its just an NPC at taverns, or random npc bards you meet on your travels). You could then equip specific songs, so you can coordinate with other players (as is everyone plays random songs, so you cant perform together).

Add a "Performance" feature and add stages to Taverns and specific areas in major cities. NPC's could have a random chance to give you a tip if you are performing. You can create a group for performances, and the larger the group or rarer the song/dance, the more tips you get. Even players can have the option to tip (there could be a tip jar that populates in front of the performance area, or maybe you can only perform in dedicated performance areas).

Add playable mini games? There are already set pieces (they look like chinese checkers) throughout Tamriel, make these items interact-able! Here's a recurring one: a gambling game from a shady looking NPC in the corner of the tavern. Then we can play against friends, and there can be key NPC's throughout tamriel that are difficult to best.

Mounts! We have stables! Lets use them more! Breath of the Wild had a great/simple mount system (you could pet it, build a relationship, you could tame wild horses to be mounts, feed them, they even die...). It doesn't have to be anything crazy. We don't want mounts to become cumbersome. Just give us the option to feed our mounts, pet them... which leads me to my final wish:

Interactions (special types of emotes): Let us interact with other players, mounts, and just more things in general. Let me sit and talk to the inn keep. Let me sit and eat (or sit and do anything for that matter without standing up again). Let me hug another player, or kiss them (we can have spouses...). Let me pet my mount, or feed it (doesn't even have to be real food, just an emote). Lastly... if another player has mounts unlocked.... allow them to ride with you? Maybe release Strong Mounts (allowing you to pick up another player).

Idk... just thinking with my keyboard.

A Bard skill line would be awesome! Mini-games also, yet I already imagine people whining about gambling...

Clarification: a card game, lol. But yes, I was envisioning the option to wager in-game gold, but could see that leading to other issues... just a card game then haha.

I'd love to see gambling mini-games. We all are adults here. I'd love to run a gambling house... I have a cosmetic one now, wish it was interactable. Do I gamble in real life? No. But in-game gold is not real, so it seems harmless to me.

Yeah, even if we have to use a seperate currency for gambling minigames it would be fun. Like it could be called Gold Coins instead of gold lol. we could buy things like style pages with it perhaps.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

One thing I'd love to see is more non-combat oriented skill lines, e.g. Speechcraft (would require replacing Intimidation/Persuasion from the Fighter/Mages guild though).

And yes, being able to eat/drink while sitting would be great. NPCs can do it, so why can't we?
Card and/or dice games would be nice as well.

      Yes! Please!
For example, a Bard skill line/mechanic: learn new songs, instruments, and dances.
Heh, I would -love- a bard skill line... doesn't have to be "musical magic" combat effect, even a "song-crafting" social-effect only skill line would be neat!
Or not just songs but also dances, or other entertainment stuff (juggling?)...
      Bards Guild
...would make a LOT of sense to be added to Solitude, where the bardic college is in TES-V:Skyrim. Just sayin.
Add a "Performance" feature and add stages to Taverns and specific areas in major cities.
...and a daily mission of "perform at every inn in Deshaan" or something like that!
      Add playable mini games?
That definitely would be neat to have as well!
Like... add two to each bar, one with an NPC to play against, one free for two players to compete... and then mix up the types for every bar.
Mounts! We have stables! Lets use them more!
      Yes!
Let us change a mounts saddle colors! Buy new saddle styles! And especially saddlebag styles for the older mounts! Add more stuff to our mounts, like extra sheathed weapons or rolls of camping gear or flagpoles... possibly even stuff that gives extra benefits, like... "you can equip -one- special thingie, this horseshoe thingie gives +10 speed, that armor plate thingie gives +10 stamina and the extra pack thingie there gives +10 cargo capacity..." (and then sell +15 thingies in the crown store, more likely then not...)
      Outfit system for mounts!
      Interactions (special types of emotes)
      Definitely!
They can make "interact with NPC" emotes that will play if you start them near a viable NPC... and allow the same to work on players with a "allow hug/hi5/whatever from -xxx-" prompt and an option to disable it wholesale from the options menu for those who do not wish to be bothered...
Maybe release Strong Mounts (allowing you to pick up another player)
How about... carriages? One driver, one passenger?

Perhaps even multip-person "war mounts", where one drives the mount, and two uise ranged attacks while playing passenger... could be wammasu, mammoths, large war chariots, whatever...

Ahh yes, speechcraft. There could be passives that decreases purchase prices, and increases sell prices.

I don't think they would need to remove it from the guilds, just add a new persuasion prompt, that is slightly different: "Lie: is that a bunch of skooma over there??? *guard turns the other way* "where?!" something cheesy, then you can sneak or run past.

@TheShadowScout so many great ideas! Add performance writs as well, they are like gigs. And the more difficult ones require a full band, or a band and dancer, or specific songs. And you're right, Solitude NEEDS a bards guild lol.

Mount customizations would be neato. Add new motifs for armor for mounts? Saddles? Outfit station for mounts as well. Riding Tricks learned from stable masters and lore books and such (so you can learn tricks to perform with your mount, such as spinning in a circle very fast, chasing its tail, standing tall, sitting, etc.).

Even just some more idles would be awesome.
Chit chat idle: they have their arms folded, occasionally gesture, make the occasioal "hmm,mm hm? ah! haha! oh?"
"Sitting" tab in the emote menu: has all the sitting variations of various animations like eating, reading, etc.
And how about some emotes of all the interactions from crafting stations? I would like to look like I am crafting jewelry in my player home while I wait for friends to arrive, etc.

Add another stall in common markets as well, with a mini quest... you can own and manage a merchant stall! You can put items up for sale, like the guild trader. Players can purchase your wares (it will search similar to the guild trader, with the option to search wares from specific people), and they can leave requests with your sales assistant (so you would name your store something that implies your craft: blacksmithing, alchemy, etc.) and you can choose to accept their request and make their item. Think of a manual guild trader option, for a more immersive role.

I think I might have seen someone else suggest this, but allow us to set up a camp! Clothing and Woodworking would be needed to craft tents. Maybe only specific areas of maps can be camped in (like any chopping block/tree stumps). They would have an interaction to set up camp or set up camp with group, short animations while they "set up" and tada! Camp! While camping your regen rates are increased if you stay in range of the camp, and it even boosts your max HP, Mag, and Stam for X long after camping: you would be required to camp for at least 10 seconds though before these boosts are applied.

Painting? It would be pretty cool to be able to set up an easel. If you interact with the easel it will trigger a first person view with your hands in a rectangle, like you are framing a scene and looking through the rectangle, and then once you confirm you begin to paint that scene. These paintings take a few minutes, and once done you can put them in your home or sell them! It would encourage players to explore more and those of use who already do.... we can immortalize our favorite scenes.

Yah, most of it would be "cool" only for the first while, then you would focus on other things... but then once you're pretty much done with whatever was distracting you (finally got to that level, finished that dungeon, etc.) you would then have these things to fall back on!

There are plenty of us who still play RPGs for the role play aspect, whether it be serious rolepaying, or just using an immersive play style (first person, not fast traveling, walking instead of running in towns, etc.). And not to mention MMOs are the prime template for "second life" type gameplay.

Except it wouldn't be a waste, because plenty of people would use it. You don't call PvP a waste because only a certain portion of the player base uses it, do you? Or Housing?

I personally would love more emotes in general. NPCs have all these other emotes like walking while injured, being injured in general, bending over to look through crates/kneeling down to look through sacks, eating/drinking while sitting down, and so on, but we can't use things like that, and it can make RP feel stiff. We need more variety in our emotes! We need more leans, more sits, more idle poses. Why don't we have an emote for a map, or for leaning on a staff?

Agree with @TheShadowScout on some of those mount ideas. Dying tack and the ability to upgrade those terrible slap-on-backpacks that were used as saddlebags on the earlier mounts.

Would love to be able to dismount, have horse remain, set up and camp for the night. I can see the big drawbacks of being able to have the horse remain after dismounting in towns and such but perhaps something could be worked out when quietly exploring or stopping for fishing/lunch/camping in non-city areas. Most of the time, the horse auto summon/unsummoning is great but still wish there was a way to have an option to sometimes have the horse remain. Probably too hard in a multiplayer game.

I would LOVE a better emote system. I use an addon but having it integrated into the game properly would be amazing. And yes, just more RP stuff - gambling, eating, drinking etc, chairs I can sit down in and FACE THE TABLE not away like a weirdo/ I really like the idea of feeding and grooming mounts but I think having them sticking around after you've dismounted might be cluttersome in towns.

What I'd *really* like is better layering for head/body markings. So things like scars, skin types etc remain on a base layer, which tattoos, body paints etc layer on top of. My Argonian, who is blind in one eye, miraculously gains back her eyesight when she applies body paint. I'd like to use both, please! :)

So yes, agree OP! More lovely RP stuffs. :)

P.S. I also LOVE the idea of RP skill lines - Bard would be great. And yes! Skill lines which tie to professions as well - Hunter, Chef, Herbalist etc with RP costumes attached or something? ^^ (edited because it was in the subject of the thread! Silly me)

      Here's a low-hanging fruit idea.

Currently on console (and I suppose the gamepad UI for Mac/PC) the number of mementos and emotes we can equip is pretty limited. It would not be too hard to add more wheels to that menu. When you hold to open the menu, you could LB/RB to select the next wheel over and slot two or three times as many things.

Here's another one that I know they won't do because cash shop, but I'm going to put it in anyway.

An easy way to implement character backgrounds is to grant characters some sort of starting skills. For example, say you are playing a sorcerer. If you pick the "daedra worshiper" background you start with a few ranks of the daedric summoning skill line as well as a free skill point in unstable familiar. Or if you select "tailor" you would start with a few ranks in clothing and a free skill point in keen eye. Something like that.

Another very easy, low-hanging fruit idea.

Add two new components to the character screen UI. The first component would be a description of your character that others would be able to view when they "inspect" you using the interact with player menu. The second component would be a background/biography area that players could fill out with their character's story. This would not be visible with inspect.

@Starlock funny story... I got excited when I saw the Description portion, but then got super bummed when I realized it wasn't a place for me to type life story lol and thats the perfect solution to allow us to add more emotes to the wheel. I'm constantly having to switch out emotes based on what I'm doing (dungeons, pvp, questing, etc.)

@Magenpie I was hoping someone would toss some more vocations out there! Hunter would be a great one, with simple skills like track, lay trap, all that good stuff.

@Arunei the way I see it, it only adds more replay value. Plenty of people "power play" but I like to take my time and... how to put it... I like to blend in with the game. Walk in town, sit at the tavern before talking to the in keep (only to stand back up lol). And the Idles animations are my favorite, every time I am afk I am playing the lute, or dancing, standing there like a noble...

I think Vocational Emotes should be added to the crown store (or unlocked by leveling crafting skills). The animations already exist, we see when players/npcs interact with crafitng stations and other parts of the world (such as harvesting a plant, or mining ore, enchanting, crafting jewelry, fishing...).

And of course, a patch to allow players to do basic interaction while sitting (heck, you can even talk to people while mounted).

I just want a place to type a custom character biography. one that others can choose to read in the menu of options when targeting a player character.

ALL custom bio information should be viewable by other players, perhaps with an option to hide it. people who know how to RP also know how to seperate what the player knows and what the character knows. you dont need to remain ignorant as a player to RP properly with a character.

Many, myself included prefer to read at least some decent amount of character bio info to get an idea as a player what I'm looking at when RPing my character with them, and deciding whether to do so.

YES. It definitely needs to have the option to be turned off. And, even when turned on, it definitely needs to be something that the other player must accept.

I myself would prefer it is -Every- mount also came with a "dismounted" pet that uses the exact same visuals, but can only be active if you are not riding your mount. So... ride the mount, dismount, and the mount-mount vanishes while the pet-mount appears to trot after you... (Well, perhaps not -every- mount, it would not make sense for -obviosuly- summoned mounts... but every -physical- mount could use this feature...)

      That would be really neat.
It would also be a thing for roleplayers... show who cares about character backstory, and who fills their "biography" with dirty limericks or bragging about the size of their PvPness...

I myself would also -love- to see "rumormonger" NPCs added to certain places, who will spread random exploits about characters that are currently active in the region... like "I hear -character name- fought -worldboss- in -region- and killed the monster!" or "Have you heard? What about gardening? Someone was posting about harvest-ables in player homes (i.e alchemy plants, rune stones, etc.) and it got me thinking...

What if certain nodes dropped seeds, rune fragments, saplings, etc. and you could plant them in Fertile Soil. Fertile soil can be crafted from formulae and purchased in the crown store. It's a new skill line, orrrrr each skill line would have a new passive that involves harvesting, planting, and maintaining craftable nodes.

      1. only harvest-able by the owner
      2. refreshes slowly in comparison to world nodes
      3. has a chance to be destroyed if you are low level, so you would need to craft a new one [edit to clarify: i.e. when you harvest columbine, there's a chance you kill the plant].
      4. 2 graphics (1 for "ripe," and one for "harvested")

This could include livestock as well... although harvesting would... uh.... yah.

Mini-eso card game be nice. Or they can even integrate card game they already have on separate client into this game. I would love to play against guildies or have fun on the side when taking break from questing or doing other activities :D!

I'd just like more like the Murkmire event. Was a treasure hunt, lots of people (met some new friends) and I was able to have fun with the World Bosses! Instead of me asking guildmates or yelling in the zone "World Bosses anyone?" there were actually people there to play with. Maybe a bit crowded but I had a blast! Zos - please, more like Murkmire where you interact with the NPCs and people actually are in the zone!

I want /eatsweetroll and a /sit7 that lets us sit cross legged. It's in the game, they do it when playing that annoying instrument.
Grand Master Crafter, Beta baby who grew with the game. PC/NA. @Sheezabeast if you have crafting needs!

Yes, just small things for us to enjoy in between the main stuff. I would love to host after a dungeon, everyone go to the craft room and deconstruct, or the guild office and sell/bank. Those of us who are waiting just start a card game in the Dining Hall.

Emotes just need their own overhaul/tlc update honestly lol

How about the ability to do magic tricks? A way to entertain the masses at the dolmens plus maybe I could make some money on the side?
