Pc EU, no cp late night zone chat is rife with sexist, homophobic, and often anti Semitic comments. Have reported often, and zero has been done.

That sounds bad and truly not something that should be in a zone chat, or anywhere really. Although, it makes me wonder if you are unlucky or if I'm lucky since I have rarely seen such disciminations in a zone chat. Thinking on it, ESO has been one of the mmos/online games I've played with the least such behavior.
I mostly just see newbies asking questings, people looking for groups, people selling/buying or normal mmo chat discussions, which vary a lot. Think it was late night last week me and some others just started write song lyrics in it since it was so quiet, which has happend to me more than any discrimination. Lionel Richie's Hello is a popular one.

Actually, men can control themselves around women. As a general rule of thumb, there are more men who are in control than those who are not. As with so much else in life and the real world, a minority can trash everything for the majority. As a happily married (for 45 years) female, and having grown up in Vegas, I've seen the best - and the worst. Not only of men, but women as well - because women are not always blameless.

I prefer to believe that most will go with "An' it do no harm...." It's unfortunate that there are those who see "harm" as fun or something to which they are entitled. Really, we all should seek to do the least harm to others - especially in real life. And also, in a game we all (presumably) play for fun.

My hypothesis, is they are one and the same, just varying degrees on the clock's face (Socio being 745, SJW being 445) - but both aim for the exact same goal, just using slightly different methods.

Usually is late, around midnight CET. In cyro I see it the most, auridon has also been quite bad at times.

I think its a lot less than in other games, specifically the competitive ones. I think that is mostly because well there is a lot more women playing the game, so that reduces it automatically but also since these people are playing games with women they stop seeing them as somehow strange alien species. Also, the demographics skew a bit older so have wives and children and whatnot.

Males and females have always been treated equally in my experience.

The way you mock your accusers may be an issue, though... ("I'm a vile plague") Are you at all introspective of what you do?

If you truly are not something, hold your chin high and proudly continue in your life. We all get judged far too quickly, especially from a single comment these days. Most people don't want to have a conversation about whatever you said. They go into defensive mode--and you go into defensive mode right back. This is spurred by the "Please look at me" attitude and "Everyone else is wrong" mindset the internet breeds. Ignore it the best you can and try responding with questions instead of statements when this happens again.

P.S. Yes, those "one true build" meta goofballs can bugger off. This horizontal progression cares not about your damage--only that you stay alive and beat mechanics.

    Not really.

No more, or less, than anywhere else, I would say.

Less than in some places, if anything.

It's weird - I have never really suffered from that much sexism in real life and if I make my own character, I don't seem to suffer from it much in games, either.

Or, not to my face, anyway...

Whereas, when I have played games where they just give you a female character, that is made a certain way, I have suffered from it.

This leads me to believe that it is certain physical attributes that trigger sexism, in certain male individuals and if you don't make your female char that way, it tends to happen less.

For example, I'm not thrilled by the pair of Lady Laurent and Stibbons, even though I recognize the stereotype of noble buffoon/competent servant they are meant to lampoon. That brand of comedy just doesn't appeal to me.

I don't think you're really supposed to find that funny.

I think you are supposed to feel sorry for Stibbons.

ESO has a very heavy LGBT and Female audience (To the point that for one year my guild had more women than males by about 70% out of 500)so this topic pops up a bit in this game. Sexism isn't rampant, but the chances of people getting triggered is just as it is in any other online game because that's just how the internet is now. Just treat everyone the same, avoid pronouns like the plague, and if they are still mad about it thats their problem.... or take my route and not give a *** about what anyone has to say equally so long as they pull their weight in cyro or in trials lol.

I've only had one real "sexism" incident in almost 2 years: was running a new Bosmer through Auridon, heading for the Harborage when I realized someone was running right behind me. I stopped so I could swing the screen to see who it was (could have been a friend who was online and in Auridon right then).

It was someone I didn't know, who immediately whispered me with "I'm looking for someone to go dominant on me, and you look like the type." I was a bit startled.... I mean, that character wasn't even somewhat UNdressed, she was fully covered, and some person wants to get into BDSM?

I didn't even reply - just blocked the player, and went on my way. Totally weird. Not nearly as bad as stuff on WoW though....

    That's not sexism, though.

It's inappropriate behaviour, but it's not sexist, per se.

    Disgusting, glad I'm on PC/NA I guess.

I've not heard anything on Xbox EU but some of the ladies in my guild have Def suffered, but that's gaming in general not ESO.

I will say tho I rolled a female toon when I went to NA and have had multiple comments in dungeons on text chat that aren't cool. Assuming I'm a chick. Kinda funny when I clicked mic on to berate them.

So yes sexism exists in gaming, is it an ESO problem no. It's a gamer / online thing

The closest thing related to sexism I've personally seen (or heard about from the vast amoung of other ladies I've played with) is that one time where one man got upset at another man in guild chat for greeting the guild with "good morning guys", because it could be offensive to women. But to be honest I'm not sure how to categorize that one...

But yeah, I don't PVP a lot and I've seen none of it. Whether it's in-game or in discord and voice chats; I've yet to find anyone even surprised or reacting weirdly/over-the-top about the whole gender thing to the point where I forget it's even a topic that exists. Statistically seen I think I've actually seen more women making a big deal out of their own gender and trying to push that perspective onto others (i.e. no one knows you're a woman but when someone disagrees with you zomg u sexist u just say that cuz im grl I bet u think grls cant do vidoe gem) than anything else. :D So yeah, if people want to find sexism somewhere, they will find it. Not to go too deep here, but it's an unfortunate trend I've personally started seeing with some women in the gaming scene.
I'm sure someone out there has had experiences, but overall I'd say the ESO community is very good with this stuff.

Killed someone a while ago. He hate whispers something about my balls. I’m notifying him the fact, that me being in possession of a *** doesn’t stop me from believing my balls are bigger than his. He can’t handle it and calls me a ***. Then I’m asking him if he kisses his mom with that mouth.

His head implodes - I just need to leave HIS MOM out of it. Found him again, killed him again and went on my way.

I haven’t experienced sexism in the game construct. But fragile humans with *** are abundant.

There will always be someone that cries or goes insane on the internet. That's because the internet is a magnet for all types of people, including the unstable. What I personally believe is that if there is not at least one person that is triggered by your gameplay, then you are doing something wrong - either you aren't playing with others or you are playing how others decided you should play.

People in this game get triggered from anything, and if in PvP, it certainly is a toxic place. I have so many screenshots I never bothered to report for my entertainment later :D

There is some examples I can think of that, but I have personally encountered less of it here than others games. Especially nowadays. When the game was more new, I saw more of it. But now it's rare enough that I don't even hesitate to mic despite being a mic avoiding female in other games.

I think a big part of it is the nonchalantly diverse story and ESO's obvious attempt to have good, quality content of all kinds.
