Weird Landscape?

It took me like more than a day to update the game which was fine, I expected it to be long but now I am having trouble with my landscape in game it is triangles and pixels everywhere and I can only see the water from a distance but it's invisible up close. AOE ground effects from abilities are also unable to be seen. I've had lag and seen some bugs but never anything quite like this before. I tried deactivating all my add-ons, restarted launcher and my settings are all still on high so idk what's up?

There are two other threads about the triangles. Not to kill your thread, just to confirm you are not alone.

I get the feeling that there should be something (my guess is hardware) that all of you share, and that thing is not working well with the new way ESO load textures. Quite troubling.

    Same GPU or nah?

With the crashes they probably optimized the meshes and created some "black" holes in the process. Depending on hardware you see triangels or crash. Other games had that problem in the past.

But thats just a best guess. I am sure they will fix what ever it is.

    1. The Launcher is only needed on patch day to patch the game, or do a repair. So i have to ask, did you use the launcher to Repair the game?
    2. Updating the launcher itself has 0 effect on the game.
    2. Use a shortcut to the Eso64.exe to start the game, life will be better
    3. Do you see this effect in multiple zones or just one or two?
    4. Have you power cycled your PC?
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I'm just gonna put the answers in the fame format, i'm not being snarky! lol
    1. I almost always use launcher and with this last patch someone mentioned it was okay to just do an update instead of a full reinstall. Is that okay? I have repaired a few times since.
    3. I see this effect everywhere since update! It is only on solid ground. Buildings, roads, Items, skills and people are not effected unless they are standing on ground foundation.
    4. I have many times...

Just covering the obvious things. You are not alone in this issue. But it does not affect me, so that is why i went over the obvious things.

And, bypassing the launcher and disabling the Splash screens for the game will make you a happy camper. Once the other issue is fixed.

I don't see these artifacts in my game. I did finally pull the trigger on Windows 10 last Fall so a complete new install of the game back then. I did not try and copy the existing archives as my internet connection is pretty good.

So, just wondering, had you installed the game earlier than last fall? Wondering as it could be that not all the original install files were replaced, so something could have borked if those older files were somehow reused.

I made the initial DL years ago... But anything other than a fresh DL is apparently beyond my capabilities. I've been at this for hours now and have tried to solve this for weeks now. I don't think I need to redownload bc many other people are having the same problem. It is apparently an incompatibility with Intel Drivers according to another thread but I've tried Restoring older versions and that didn't do anything either... And Zos is doing nothing to help us other than 💩 on our systems with copy and paste responses. They are just as clueless as we are. I'm just ready to uninstall the game for good at this point. Their lack of response beyond a thread comment stating game requirements we meet and no concern that they broke it overnight with the last update is just disgusting. Shouldn't have to jump through hoops to fix what they broke for a game we pay for...

You are using Intel Graphics? Hmm, they must be better than they were before.

However, gives me an idea, try running a lower resolution, just for giggles.

RAM can help Intel Graphics, but the underlying GPU can still be the limiting factor. A few years ago, Intel Graphics would not even run a 3D game like this.

So, perhaps in ZOSs efforts to assist with cell loading crashes, they swapped some graphics files for terrain. So, that is why i was wondering if a change in detail would have any effect on this.

I am not saying your machine just became the problem, just maybe an adjustment can be made until ZOS resolves the issue.

I got this fixed by downloading the original Intel HD 4400 driver from my computer manufacturer which is Dell. When I installed the driver it asked me if I wanted to override a newer driver with and older one and I said yes to that. Folks apparently on some machines ESO doesn't like the generic Intel HD Drivers that are downloaded when you reinstall the Operating System which is what I did today because I inherited a PC. Try that if you get this. If that don't work then I have no other idea how to fix this issue.

EDIT: I ran Windows Update and the bad driver reinstalled. Did a google search on how to stop that from happening and rolled back the driver. The new video drivers for my PC are just not going to work with ESO.

In case someone encounters this issue (most likely on integrated intel graphics):

Some recently added graphic features are not supported on your hardware, but you can circumvent this by changing the following settings in your Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/UserSettings.txt from "1" to "0"

    SET NORMAL_MAPS "0"
    SET SPECULAR_MAPS "0"

Those will remove shiny armor (metal like reflections) as well as surface details on textures, but you will be able to play the game. Especially with AMD FSR you can now get more than 20 FPS with 1080p on medium settings with integrated graphics, which should be enough to enjoy quests and dungeons.
