Why do ESO players get so salty in PVP?

Look, I got any sorts of threats via PM.
From getting "mudcrabs" (insert other similiar animal here) to "necromance without much mance" in RL.
And that's only the short version.

But my collection of screenshots is getting bigger and bigger. Making me happy to browse through them when I am feeling a lil bit down/depressed and giving me some laughs
It would be a shame if everyone of them gets banned... it's much more entertaining to see/feel how they enrage in saltiness.

PVP tends to attract people who have a psychological need for affirmation by comparison. I win. You lose. Win = validation, affirmation, endorphin/serotonin release, Ug feel good. Losing = shame, failure, demoralization, anxiety, Ug feel bad. Often 'fun' isn't really a factor. Everything is VERY serious to a hardcore PVP player.

There is a very primal part of the brain involved during this sort of extreme competition. That part of the brain is responsible for all the ugliness and aggression and hatred and violence in human history.

It isn't to say PVP turns you into Ghengis Kahn, but the more you tickle that part of the brain, the more it farts out toxic vestiges of our less admirable human characteristics left over from (dark) ages past.

Of course some people thrive on that state of mind. :p

I don’t really trash talk any more, and I’ve never been one to send hate messages, but I have been known to shout things like “die mender ***!” without even realizing it.

I’m truly sorry for judging the life of that NPC. The choices you make off the clock are your decision, not mine.

Well there is the problem right there. Why is it that making another human being feel horrible, fun for you?

What happened in your personal life to shape you in such a way that making another human being upset, makes you happy? It's this attitude, this desire to make another person feel negative things that fuels the griefing and trolling, causes people to avoid PvP all together. It's like you are urinating against the wind, it's all blowing back and your face and you are laughing about it open mouthed.

When people post responses like this I think they must have a serious lack of empathy, and that they might even be a sociopath which I find disturbing as very said, I pity people who's fun includes harming other people in way. It's too closely related to the same personality types that mutilate animals.

At the moment, I am so extremely salty that I could turn into a salt mine: performance.

No one cares about pvp players, I am sure of it now.

Well, to be totally frank (and you might be the nicest person on earth, for all I know), but why would anyone care about a group of people, as a whole, when many members of that group openly say they not only don't care about other people, they thrive on their misery?

I'm not trying to troll, here...

I have PVPed, myself, in other games, so I know not everyone who does so is a psycho.

I also know very well that emotions can run high.

    I've got annoyed, who hasn't?

Although, normally with people who were supposedly on my own team, spying, win-trading, feeding us to the enemy on purpose and just being unpleasant, fake, arrogant, devious individuals, in general (you know who you are...).

I just, literally, mean - why would anyone care about someone who doesn't just not care about them, but actively despises them?

I find it quite amusing that anyone would think they would...

Most people (obviously) aren't their moms, so most people won't love them unconditionally, or put them first (or even last) in line, after that.

They are lucky they are customers (although, probably, not the best ones), otherwise they would be ignored entirely.

But, they can't seem to see it - it's all one way.

People must still care about their feelings about performance (or whatever else), even if they openly show hate towards players, in threads like this.

    Quite amusing, really...

Obviously, it's not so amusing for the nicer people, who PVP, but if you dance with the devil, you may get burned.

Why are people salty? No one likes to loose, that's why. Some take the defeat better than others.

Had my share of childish, salty and insulting whispers. I don't reply and neither do I care about those frustrated people.

Don't worry we've some of them in PvE too, and the fun thing, it's mostly bad player who trash-talk other for their own mistake pretty funny to read and kick :>
I've a friend who even T-bag them before kick, made me laugh all time :x

If they can't handle to be bad or defeated, well, maybe they shouldn't play.

I understand all the salt in pvp, though I've never written any hate whispers myself. What I do not get is this "naming and shaming" policy bs. If they decided to make themselves look like idiots why not let everyone know lol. C - consequences.

Because many people - even, genuinely, nice people - can lose their temper in the heat of the moment.

So, bringing things that were said in the heat of battle to a forum, so everyone can share in it, long after that moment has passed, is viewed as gossipy and unnecessary.

If someone has said something really wrong, better to pass their name on to ZOS (and/or maybe even to the police, if it's a real life threat) and discuss it here, in general (without naming names), rather than naming and shaming.

This isn't supposed to be either a court of law, or a gossip magazine.

Also, people going on about "salt" endlessly is needlessly trollish, in itself.

Especially as the OP has already explained that the issue was more along the lines of elitism, from a member of his own team, than due to someone, on the opposing side, being annoyed that they were killed in a certain way.

a few things...not all pvpers are like this....and not all are children as some claim ( I have a guild with about 60 active pvpers in it, maybe 20 are younger than 30years old) .....I see some people talking about just being there for xp or even not using weapons in bgs, imagine a pvper doing that in a pve setting...if you enter a pvp setting be prepared to pvp, and not get upset about dying.....that being said, some people are just Richards and send whispers like that to everyone who kills them or upsets them, just ignore it or laugh it off....if I reported every whisper or 15 minute group teebag session on my body, I would never have time to play

Yesterday I died because of a glitch introduced by this update, and then i crashed RIGHT after. I just about landed in the salt mines at that point. A lot of ppl are salty in this game because of the abysmal performance.
