as mush as I would like new weapon lines to be released, I fear that it will become even more a hassle for the devs to balance the game, having more skills to deal with

The class skills are basically the "onehanded" magic. It doesn't matter what weapon you wield you can use them, and depending on the class you get more, or less. For example you don't actually need a resto staff as Templar to heal. It helps a lot, because of the heavy attacks, but you can equip that healing spell as stamplar for extra survival.

The real difficulty with unarmed, and dual-hand magic is the balancing. In order to make it work without extreme balance issues you would need to itemize these skills.

I'm thinking about an easier approach to these ones. Fable 3 style.

Unarmed would go with different fist weapons to replace weapons.

For "unarmed magic" there would be special gems, that your character would attach to it hand(s). The real question is. How would these be different from the usual staves? Or just give an alternate model for the same skills?

I want to see spears so bad. Just thinking of the 80+ different styles they could make for the motifs, from spears to halberds to pikes to lances to tridents to glaives to naginatas... that would be great.

Just throw the spear style unlock in with the staff page. They're next to each other alphabetaically anyway, and then we don't have to grind them all again. If you have the staff, you get the spear.

But yeah, with the Murkmire event, I'm just really mad. Now I get to go through Dead-Water village and see:
    600px-ON-npc-Dead-Water_Warrior.jpg
a group of people practicing with spears.

    :/

It's worse than that. You can find people practicing with spears on Auridon. The animations have been there since launch.

If anything a new magica weapon tbh, magica only has 1 weapon skill line, stam has 4

A dragon full sized, for overland of course, its balanced by not being able to go inside buildings.

Its as likely to happen as any of the other idea's suggested.

But unless they change the way weapon drops are handled in game, I would not want any more weapons added to inflate the loot drop tables.

    All of the above.
Stamina gets, Sword, Axe, Mace, Dagger, Bow, along with two handed variants of the melee. It also gets Duel wield, 2H, SB, Bow skill lines.

Magica gets... A staff. A staff. Another staff, and to top it off, more staffs. And ONE weapon skill tree for dps (destruction staff).
Wrong way to look at it.

Yeah -melee- stamina gets a lot. 1H&S, DW, 2H, with choices of sword, axe, mace and dagger...

While magica gets... D-staff in the flavor of your choice: fire, shock or ice... or R-staff.

On the other hand -ranged- stamina gets even less then magica!!! There the -only- choice is "pick up your bow and STFU, soldier!"

This disparity in variance is even worse, and needs addessing even more, yes? At the very least crossbows ought to be an option... slings too perhaps...

And of course, magica also needs some more toys to play with!

Two, actually. The hurtin' staff (in three flavors) and the soothing staff (no extra flavor there, what a shame).

And yeah, there is a LOT that could be added for all the mages! Both in more weapons options and more damage flavors... and in new skill lines...

But like I keep mentioning... posted all that before: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/371862/additional-weapon-skill-ideas-mk-ii/p1 ;)

I think I am looking at it exactly the right way, Magica gets ONE weapon for damage. A staff, with ONE skill tree. Stamina gets 4 skill trees, with 5 weapon types (or 6 if we count shields).

But this does not discount the need for a further Stamina ranged weapon. Cross bows as a "two handed" style option could work well, so a 2nd "heavy" ranged skill line (slower etc)... AFTER we get a new Magica line!

Magic weapons are lacking because of developer lack of imagination.

I think I am looking at it exactly the right way, Magica gets ONE weapon for damage. A staff, with ONE skill tree. Stamina gets 4 skill trees, with 5 weapon types (or 6 if we count shields).
But stamina gets three of those skill trees for -melee damage-!
Two, if you subtract the "tanking" skill tree of 1H&S... since you subtract the "healing" staff, that only seems fair, right? :p

And magica -still- has those two skill trees, damage and healing, -both- with a ranged damage basic option... (so you -can- so DPS on a healing staff, just using it for resource management, and doing your damage with class skills...) more then stamina characters that want to stay at a distance get!

So I still think that IS a viable alternative way of looking at it.

Doesn't change the fact that magica really could use some more Options, darnit!
But this does not discount the need for a further Stamina ranged weapon. Cross bows as a "two handed" style option could work well, so a 2nd "heavy" ranged skill line (slower etc)...
Yeah, and they wouldn't even need a new skill line for it!
Since it'd be similar enough to bows that they could just make it an alternate weapon for that line... just add a "reload" delay after each attack or skill use, and give increased armor penetration as balancing...
Magic weapons are lacking because of developer lack of imagination.
    That we can agree on!
Like I keep saying, getting only "staff" of varying flavors is super-boring!
And it would be so easy to do more... both in "alternate weapon" options, and in "new skill line" options!

As I keep linking to, they could start with adding some weapons to the jeweler crafting line... both a "spell focus" like in my ideas as alternative for staves, and a wand/runestone for the often mentioned "One-handed and Magic" skill line notion that might appeal to melee magicians would fit quite well with that crafting line! And once they do latter, it only would make sense to dual-wield those runestones/wands/etc. for a "twin magic" skill line that is somewhere in between the long ranges staves and the more melee oriented 1H&M...

And if they ever do want to try a "monk" themed skill line, they could add some "magic martial arts" (since magically charged punches would eb the only really viable way punchings can compete on the battlefield where armored warriors swing big axes and such), which would go really well if they ever want to poke a bit at the akaviri in some expansion someday...
Nunchaku. Cuz I wanna whoop azz like Bruce Lee.
Well, any sort of "flail" would be a viable additional option for 1H and 2H weapons! No matter is the classic "morningstar" or a nunchaku, a meteor hammer or a chain whip, a medieval flanged flail or a urumi... Only question is how well those would animate... now much effort those would be to do for the developers!
