Hi all, i bought the game 5 days ago and so far i am having a lot of fun. I tried few classes and now i would like to focus on one character and do story and stuff (i already did the research about how and where to do it) and i was thinking of going with stamina templar, however i have a few questions before i do.

1.I found this guide https://alcasthq.com/eso-stamina-templar-beginner-guide/ is that a good one?
2. I am going to play PvE mostly and dps build, is templar hard to learn in terms of rotations and such?
3. Any suggestions for another build or maybe a class, any info is welcome :)

Alcast is a good place to start. My one piece of advice - go to the guild finder and find a few pve guilds that have a lot of active members... you’ll always have a pool of people to pve with as well as a place to ask advice (and make gear for you!)

Templar is nice class for beginners and overall work well. And that guide looks good.

One thing you should consider is getting into some friendly guilds down the line.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Alcast and Xynode definitely worth checking out. They have good guides for builds and content on their websites and YT channels. Shoutout to Shimmer too who also has some nice beginner friendly guides on events, housing and pretty much most things in Tamriel.

Also definitely join active Guilds as being able to ask questions in game and get an immediate answer is so useful. It's a great game with so much content especially when you are new to it all, so take time to enjoy the world and its many great stories 😊

    1) @Alcast has a lot of great content, tips, advice and tutorials. Ive referenced alot of his builds and made minor tweaks here and there and been successful from it.

    2) TEMPLAR is the easiest class to learn, it definitely is what id suggest for beginners to MMORPGs. Its my favorite class as well, and my main character is a templar. But the templar has a playstyle like all classes do. Templars are not very mobile. They are best suited (from what ive seen and experienced) to pick a spot on the ground, lay down some protective wards on it, and then dish out a healthy dosage of hate and discontent on the bad guys. Its definately a class more suited for PVE than PVP.

    3) all classes have their pros and cons, the dev team does a pretty good job at balance, but not perfect. The templar class certianly needs a buff. But again alcast has a lot of build templates, look there, or make one for yourself, i have lots of toons from my own designs. And they are good, they are not op. But they get the job done for what i want them to do.

    Hey @CiferX

    Welcome to ESO

The best advice I can give you is don’t be in too much of a rush. The single most valuable thing you can do right now is enjoy playing the game. Do some questing, jump into Cyrodiil and do the tutorial there, get 2 skyshards and skillpoints, open the Alliance skill lines and get Rapid Manoeuvres (to increase your mount speed when questing), visit the Fighters and Mages guilds to open up those skill lines.

Put all your gold into daily horse training and bag space upgrades.

As you’ve already found a guild use this to begin exploring dungeons. Join the Undaunted beforehand to level that skill line while you’re dungeoning.

Don’t worry about any of the skill or attribute points you apply, they can all be changed later on if you want (so you can start being a stam Templar and change all your attributes to become a mag Templar if you want).

Don’t get fixated on a destination, enjoy the journey getting there.

In addition to Alcast, Xynode has just started a series of beginners’ videos which you might find useful

    Have fun in Tamriel

I will for sure take my time and enjoy all content that eso has to offer and as i said so far i am having a lot of fun.
I was thinking of doing a class build of my own but i am not sure how good that will be for dungeons later on, i mean i like that there are guides but that kinda reminds me of build like we have in other mmos where you need to go for it or you wont be able to do this or that.
One of main reasons i decided to buy eso was the fact that i could play any class any weapon any build combo.

You can, and anyone who hates on you for not using the "One True Build" should be quickly blocked as they are not worth dealing with.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

Awesome :) so if i have a decent build and rotation i could do normal/veteran dungeons later on? I mean i know for top end raids (not sure how they are called here) you need to do most damage as dps as you can but i am not planing on doing raids any time soon.

    You can do exactly that.

Never be afraid to experiment. Early stages, when your character won’t have specific gear sets or has a limited number of skills, is a great time to play around. And don’t feel hemmed in by what anyone else says. What works for you at L30 with the gear you have then, might be totally unviable later on when you have access to better gear and skills, but it works for you now.

And you can change almost everything (attributes, skill points etc) on a character at any time. Some things (race or name changes) require stupidly expensive tokens to do though.

One thing you cannot change is your character’s class. So messing around with the different classes early on to get a bit of a taste can be helpful.

Cool thanks, so far i tested out all classes except sorcerer which i will be trying out probably today or tomorrow.
One thing i wanted to ask, is Cyrodiil pvp map? Also does it have a map completion and if so how hard is it to do it since i am not that into pvp :)

Yes it has map completion but it's not bad at all. Got to be patient to collect all the shards. You may get killed but who cares. For the record I HATE PVP and have never been killed while over there questing or fishing. Most people will ignore you if they see you are there questing. I only got killed while doing the last event.

The zones are beautiful, the music amazing and some of the quests are extremely well written with very engaging story lines so TAKE YOUR TIME. ESO is an MMO that is about the journey not the destination.

Just play the game dude. If you've just started, sack off Alcast for now. Just go out and enjoy the game. Don't think too much about builds. Get into it all.

The worst players I've experienced in this game are the ones that get their end game build ready before they've downloaded the game. They then go and spend, literally, three months doing dolmen runs to 810CP and then start playing. Then, they walk into vSCP and get one shot and complain about the game.

Just play it as it was meant. When you get to level 50 and 160 champion points, start thinking about vet dungeons. Until then, play around with all of the different classes. Do the quests, world bosses, dolmens, dragons and normal dungeons. Just enjoy the game, dude. You won't be ready for endgame for a while.

Make a start on your crafting.

Find a good guild and community.

Try out the different sets that drop and are craftable.

Experience the game as a whole. Don't zone in.

As helpful as Alcast (and others) are, these builds can be harmful to the game. People go out and grab them straight away but don't know what weaving is.

I was talking to a ~CP450 guy a couple of days ago. He's had the game a few months. He spends all of his time doing dolmens in the desert. He said this game was boring and sends him to sleep. He didn't even know about vet dungeons. He thought the gold farm was based on filling emtpy soul gems and selling them to merchants.

The guild took him through a ton of stuff; dungeons, world bosses, daily quests, etc. He was gobsmaked..doesn't do dolmens anymore.

Don’t waste your time. Stamcro has been the top dps since it launched and because it’s behind a pay wall, it prob will be for the foreseeable future. They also are super strong in pvp, Being able to outheal most dd’s and with a reliable defile, which if works correctly this patch will be OP af! In other words Stamcro!! Be the meta!!

Playing something you enjoy is hardly a waste of time. Rather than push a new a player into min-maxing, why don't we let them enjoy the game early on like it should be.

At least keep in mind that some races have bonusses to more magical playstyles and some have boosts to physical damage stuff. I would take that into account when creating a main character.

Of course you can play as you want; the possibilities are there.
Not all combos are equally strong though, but you can always respec when you want to try something different.

I am not sure if you are joking, but this is exactly the kind of advice a new player does not need. Forcing the "meta" on someone kills the fun of finding your own style of play. While a stamina necromancer may be the top performer in some respects (depending on what role and what type of game content we are talking about), other classes are not so far behind that they are useless and are not even worth considering. If they were that bad, the game would be populated by a clone army of all stamcros. Fortunately, this is not the case.

Myself, I bought Elsweyr mainly for the Necromancer class, leveled one to test it out, realized I didn't like it one bit, and never played one again. Same with Dragonknight: I played one for quite some time but found no way to play it that I liked. I could have looked longer and harder, and probably found something fun, but I already had enjoyable characters of the Templar, Nightblade, Sorcerer and Warden classes, and I felt no desperate need to diversify.

Some of my builds over the years have aimed at being competitive in endgame content, and I quite like a challenge, but other builds are weird hybrids, some with rather odd gear. They would struggle with a vet DLC dungeon, and they will never set foot in a vet trial or kill any skilled opponents in PvP, but they are just plain fun to play in situations that offer a reasonable challenge for them. Lately, I have found myself playing those "off-meta" builds a lot more for variation.

The game is huge, and most of the content allows you to experiment and do weird and fun stuff. There is so much more to ESO than a race to the endgame meta.

    Have fun!

Get into theorycrafting eventually. But for now I'd say focus on the quest, stay immersed. Be prepared for lvl 50 not being max level and having to gain 810 more levels after.

I started playing in december 2019 and just levelled 3 characters to 50 + 160CP+.
In my opinion templar is very survivable, a bit more than DK. Its main attack also heals you and DK doesn't have a specific healing line like Tempars do, although DK are quite tough. My DK died a lot more often than my templar (and warden) though.
