Why when interacting with merchants is gold not taken directly from the bank? Same question for crafting stations and crafting materials?
[snip]. All we have is artist and writers creating new content and actually NO DEVELOPMENT is being done on the core ESO application. Probably on purpose so people will still want to buy the next ES stand alone game?
I already have seen enough of these forum questions to know that the DEVELOPERS CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO REPLY TO THEIR USERS [snip]

Crafting Mats come out of your crafting bag first if you have one then out of the bank if you dont
The reason is they dont want you to load up your crafting bag, cancel ESO+ and just have the mats sitting in the bag forever while you use your bank stocks.Beta tester November 20139 -

✭✭Because the Bank is the bank its there to safe storage gold. Its account wide so you can transfer gold from any of your characters to other characters. Other mmos I've played are like this, bank is just for storage. You have to go to the bank to draw out money its not like debit cards or checks exist in Tes Reality. Not like you can use a cellphone give your banking number and transfer gold from your bank to the merchant.
So banks are just for storage for the account it should remain that way. You go there directly pull out the gold and then take that with you. But then if you do something like steal an apple you lose that gold if you get caught by the guard. You do know this is a fantasy RPG, right? If you want to pay someone some gold, you have to have it with you (in your cavernous bag along with several sets of armour and a thousand potions and maps).2 -

IMHO I think it is just the standard half-assed, incomplete, lazy programing the developers are putting into the game. That's also the reasoning why:
We don't have crafting writ boards for player housing.
The crown merchant doesn't repair armor.
The crown banker doesn't have access to the guild bank or guild store.
Personally, I rarely use the bank's storage function for any currency other than Tel Var. Most of the gold gets picked up by my main crafter since she's the one spending the gold on motifs. That makes it very easy to use - if I want to go on a shopping spree, I hop on one of the two characters that hold the money. My other characters have enough to buy what they need, but not so much that I splurge without thinking about first.Edited by VaranisArano on February 22, 2020 1:11PM0 -

It makes complete sense - and applies in all the other MMOs I play as well, that the Character - not bank - that receives the gold, carries the gold. If you want to central your gold, you put it in the bank so other Characters can access it. Some games you dont even Have a centralized bank, in which case you have to Mail gold back and forth to your Characters. (This is something that is Not allowed in ESO - only account to account mailing, but is probably why we Have a centralized bank. )
The point is, you CAN centralize all your gold. Now, if you are saying - its just too hard after ending play to take the extra step to put your gold into the bank, well then I dont know what to tell you

However I wholeheartedly agree that all they do is add new shinies and “story zones” without focusing upon the gameplay. In fact I just said the exact thing In another thread.
Problem is all the potatoes eat up the new shinies, and don’t really participate in content where the bad gameplay issues run rampant, such as end game raiding or pvp.
Zos just goes where the money is. Can’t really blame them, you would too. Blame the potatoes.0 -

✭✭It works well as it is now. You can save your extra gold in bank and not risk losing it. I once bought accidentally an achievement furnishing worth 100k (I had the ItemPreview addon but clicking to preview it didnt work well) and after that, I always withdraw gold from bank when I want to buy something expensive.Edited by gatekeeper13 on February 22, 2020 2:00PM1 -

✭✭✭✭✭Zos designed it so gold is taken directly from the character's coin purse. I have played other games where we could bank currency for the account and merchants still took gold directly from the character and not from the bank. I do not see this as a big issue.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭I agree with those who say that the bank is for storage and not for everyday transactions. Changing it would certainly mess with the Justice System. Adding bounties to player-to-player transactions as exceptions to a change would rather reduce the benefit of such a change, when the issue is a trivial one for those with a banking assistant in any event.
That said, the one change I would support relates to transactions with the bank itself. When I want to buy extra bank slots it seems unnecessary to have to take the gold out of the bank before I can buy the extra slots.1 -

✭✭I would not want the gold taken out of the bank during a purchase, I purposely carry a smaller amount in my inventory, so I don't over pay for an item by mistake at a guild trader, the rest stays in the bank so I can withdraw as much as I need when on any other character.0 -
