Necro is a powerful class but the bugged abilities limit it greatly. it has a lot of survivability but its damage potential seems to be held back due to blastbones glitchyness among other things. I still use blastbones cuz what kinda necro doesnt summon exploding skeletons? A BORING ONE!

Looked on many posts to see if people feel the way I feel, and they do, but they try to guise it with half hearted sayings like “well this part isn’t too bad.”
I wasn’t a hardcore eso player, probably still not technically, but this is all I’ve been playing for the most part, and I’ve finally gotten around to playing with my other characters with different classes, so far having done Templar, warden, sorcerer, and necromancer all the way through and necromancer has been my least favorite, although after playing it, it’s definitely my favorite tank class, but that’s only because the other subclasses suck. Dps is very underwhelming, the most powerful thing doesn’t do squat, and I wanted to be a magcro dps but guess it’s stamcro or bust unless you want to die when fighting anything other than a wolf. I play strictly pve so if it doesn’t work out in pve then you definitely know it ain’t worth diddly in pvp. My khajiit necro is a joke and I don’t think I’ll go any further with him.
On a side note, why do all the armors suck except for heavy? With the exception of a couple races who look better in medium or light, the best looking ones are heavy. You would think they would have made certain races look better in certain ones given their natural calling, like for example khajiit should look best in medium armor, seeing as how that’s their racial skill. Just something that’s been really grinding my gears
I sense thread necromancy...

Actually, most necromancers don't summon exploding skeletons in game. Literally most of the NPCs don't.
Because summoning a minion temporarily that fights for you is way more useful than basically throwing a delayed AoE fireball.
Also an exploding skeleton in concept doesn't make much sense, especially when we could literally summon a zombie that explodes or something. Or even better, if the skeleton we raised to "explode" was an actual minion that fought by our side for x duration and could be morphed to be a warrior or instead summon 2 of the little flayer dudes.

Then I read this thread and got bummed out by how poor magCro is rated by basically everyone. I understand that it's self-selecting and that hopefully things are changing but it's still dispiriting.
I'm not quite sold on the whole corpse mechanic though, as in boss fights in PvE there aren't normally mobs that you can harvest and in smaller scale PvP the only corpses are either going to be you or the person you're fighting... neither of which will do you any good.
IDK... someone please sell me on making a magCro.

Well, I found mine in the basement under the stairs.
Does that count?
all these people saying magnecro is so bad, meanwhile I'm loving my OP not even level 50 one, wonder what I'm doing differently lol.
Honestly until they get at least one long term or permanent pet skeleton, they will never fulfill the class fantasy for me.

I’m probably in the minority that thinks necro pets being expendable tools suits the callous nature of the class more than if their pets were a permanent travelling companion.

I agree it’s a total waste to not have minions but at the same time it’d be the exact same thing as summoner. I feel like they created the wrong skills. Don’t get me wrong I still think they should have done a summoner subclass, I’m just listing their most likely reason why, as warden has a summoner subclass too. They should have done a summoner subclass, just like the npcs, thrills, spirits, I like the idea of the mage vs archer skill that they already have even though the archer is straight up garbage and doesn’t even attack very well. The other one should have been more like a tank kind of deal with blastbones but instead of one corpse it’s like a series of three that get summoned with one button press. This would be the tank subclass as each exploding corpse replenishes health and after morph either stam or mag. Mag would be skelly’s still but stam would be bloating zombie corpses that would explode in a cloud of poison. They really missed the opportunity to make the “necromancer” be a master of death, as the tank subclass could have summoned ghostly “spike traps” from the floor or things of that nature. Summoner subclass ult is fine I suppose but imagine the tank subclass summoning a giant or a mammoth. Clumsy undead creatures wouldn’t do much but would last a long time and take the heat off of the healers and dps.
I had an orc stamcro and as said here...you end up copy pasting a random stam build.
I have leveled my 12th char as a magcro...and it's maybe the worst char I have. Not funny at all and clunky.
Wardens are by far better and a lot more funny and diverse. Necros are a failure in ESO.

To each his own. I have a orc Stam necro and I'm loving it so far. I'm using Necro abilities with good damage and good survivability in PvE and Pvp. I think once I get maxed out I'm going to try healing though.
Still I do wish there was a undead army build. I expected to be able to summon undead being a Necro when I started the class.

Summoning undead SHOULD be the main thing about Necro.
Like that's it, period. They should have at least twice as many summons as Sorc and should be able to have a viable pet based build.
The fact that out of 15 skills and 3 ults they somehow managed to get it to where you summon less minions than Sorcerer, a class whose focus was never really supposed to be on summoning, is a crime within itself?
You can have fun on the class, but it certainly doesn't feel like a Necromancer. I'd say it feels more like a Death Knight, but in WoW death knights can have 2 skeletal body guards at all times, summon a big tanky zombie, a gargoyle, and can raise a huge army of like 8-12 random undead.
And it's not even a pet focused class in WoW....
This is where you can say "well that's wow and this is eso" and I'd be like, sure, I agree. If the class was called Death Knight and not necromancer.
The fact of the matter is most NPCs can summon 1-3 various undead. Including zombies, shades, many kinds of skeletons, spirits, etc. The fact we don't have this variety despite the NPC version of the class being shoved in our face every which way feels so bad.
