Would you like if mounts could follow us like pets on dismount?

    OK. Have your following mount.

    But...

Mounts get "parked" in the stables when you enter a town/city. You have to go to the stables to pick it up when you leave. No riding in town!

If you enter a dungeon/delve/mine/built up area without stables (including wilderness crafting stations) then the mount won't go inside. In fact it will probably wander off, and when you come out you have to go find it.

If you don't put your mount away and let it wander off then you can't just summon it, you have to go back to where you left it and look for it.

Anyone coming across an unattended mount (not in the stables) can just take it - they can't own it but they can ride it where they want. You have to look for it if you want it back.

And we need a sorc/warden pet suppression zone, because I'm fed up of not being able to get out of a bank because some warden has left their bear parked in the door :s

Though I would like to stay mounted through water.

THIS should be a thread! My mount touches anything wet or a tiny pebble and instant slow down or outright disappears. I can't imagine one player who wouldn't want this.

Only if there was a limit of one pet/follower/thing at a time, and they were reduced to the size of a crimson torchbug (without the glow).

I say no as there are too many annoying player combat/noncombat pets running around already.

There's already too much extraneous junk on my screen. I want a "hide all pets" option as it is.

And I think non-combat pets should be insta-killed if out during an AOE.

I really only could see this being done in particular RP scenarios but otherwise obnoxious considering the how much of a mess pets already make in cities.

I think this would be fine, as long as they:

    a) Introduced mount exclusion zones, around world bosses and crafting stations for example, where they disappeared automatically and then, automatically reappeared once you had exited these heavily populated and/or group combat areas.

Assuming you hadn't already mounted to leave, after exiting combat, obviously.

    b) You could toggle them on and off, as preferred.

You would definitely need to do a), because can you imagine the chaos, if 20 people had their large mount following them around, while they fought a dragon?!

No one would be able to see the AOEs.

Other than that, I think it is a fun idea.

Although, I'm even more interested in the idea of new Warden pet skins, which are extremely overdue.

FFXIV actually does this quite well with the Chocobo mount. They fight with you, level up, and you can spec them to be a tank, healer or DPS initially.

You can only use them solo in the open world, but it's interesting nonetheless.

It'd be a nice nod to Oblivion in particular if ESO did something similar, where Shadowmere used to run up and bash enemies all the time.

Or, we could just do what I said, which would keep mounts out of the way, without punishing people for liking animals and wanting a more authentic mount experience, where possible.

That's basically what I was saying yeah is having exclusion areas for mount followers, such as inside of buildings, delves, dungeons, etc. Anywhere the game already says "You cannot mount here" if you try to would dismiss your mount follower. Its already coded into the game so it wouldn't be that difficult to implement exclusion areas for that I would think.

Also mounts would not be able to follow alongside pets or assistants. Its one or the other. Non-combat pets and assistants already can only be out one at a time, not both at once, so the server load wouldn't be any more increased than it already is with non-combat pets/assistants.

Although I do agree the option for people to turn off pets/followers loading in on individual screens would be nice if they did something like this (as well as not dismounting in water), for those who don't want to see them or it causes trouble. They probably won't ever do mount followers though, its more just wishful thinking.

No, but it was fun leaving your horse under a tree or in a grassy area waiting for you while you ran errands in town in Fallen Earth. Only your pets need to follow you, your mounts wait for you to drive them.
