From an MMO vet and ES fan: Fantastic Job

I've played a handful of MMO's in the past. Like most others WoW was the most prominent with 6 years, EVE online with a year, DDO way back before it went free to play, and I even took a crack at a couple of recent free ones like Neverwinter for a bit.

ESO takes the cake.

After getting past the first boss, the 400kb/sec download monster (launcher bug or intense server usage, idk), and dealing with a couple minor yet annoying bugs, the game has been pretty phenomenal.

I haven't been this immersed in an MMO since first picking up WoW. The story is great and ever-so Elder Scrolls, the appearance is amazing, and the content so far has made for an incredible experience. Granted I'm only level 7, but I can imagine what I'm in for.

If the development team keeps plugging away, fixing bugs, adjusting for lag, hammering down these gold sellers and bots before churning out new content, then ESO will have the makings of an online powerhouse in the gaming community.

Thank you Zenimax and Bethesda, keep up the good work.

This comment adds so much to the discussion.

I'm glad you're enjoying the game, if you like it already at level 7, you're in for a fantastic ride :)

I am glad how the gold sellers and botters are slowly taken care of, I hope they will keep it like it is currently: Listen to the communtiy :D

You're absolutely right; the game is fantastic right now. But what will make it great for the future, turn it into a lasting product and one players will want to play continually for years to comes, is what development does from now on.
And I don't just mean churning out new content, but - like you say - continuing to polish and refine the product they've already put in place.

    Fingers crossed.

I just hope they don't follow down the same path some recent game publishers have taken by taking the loudest complaint threads as a mark of the community. I think the majority of the community never even visits the forums much less posts long complaints to them, so by that I would like to see Zenimax make TESO into the game they want to make and then people will vote with their feet so to say.

I couldn't agree more. Despite some annoying bugs, I greatly enjoy the time I spend playing this game together with my partner. Both of us don't regret choosing to buy and play this game one bit.
Some polishing and refining is of course needed - and I didn't expect it to be any different for a freshly released MMO, but I am very much looking forward to this games future and hope I'll be playing it for years to come.

I have multiple characters, highest 17, lowest 3, and i'm loving the game too, so much to keep me involved, so much so in fact the wife has to drag me away from the pc
Guild Master of Lost Prophecies, small group of friends playing in Ebonheart Pact, recruitment only accessible through playing with us and making a good impression.

People are mostly flaming the game, but I agree, there are many, many positive points and it is just the beginning!
I love the pvp system, the fact you can join many guilds, the map design is very decent, the support has flaws but they try to help (final f. 14 support is much worse they dont even sign the answers, seems you are talking with a spam email). The gear system, and so on!
I know there are many bugs and things to fix also!

I couldn't agree more. I'm so happy to have finally found an MMO that manages to immerse me into it's world again. It's been a long time since I wasn't constantly worrying about levels, but this game seems to make me forget about it all and I just find myself exploring the heck out of it. :)

I've been enjoying this game so much, Zenimax did a very good job indeed.

Now we just have to get rid of the ones that speak in absolutes on whether the game will make it or not based on that persons personal preferences/ideas about how they want the game to be
Da'Hui DC imperial mage dragonknight(retired but retained)
Hand Saryn Valor EP dunmer templar(mage/healer)
Pergan Asuul AD dunmer dragonknight(dps firemage)
    Mi'Mosa EP imperial nightblade(stamina)
    Limu'Kai EP Sahxleel dragonknight(vampire mage)

Not me. I hate this game.

Hate that it's so good that it's going to consume the majority of my time for the next few years.

I fully agree. This is one of the best MMO's to hit the market in years. It definitely takes the cake bugs or not. They will get ironed out just like they do in all games.

What is fantastic is exiting the game and enter again, check your bank and it is empty and with 60 slots instead 90 that I had before relogging.

I love the Skyrim feel to the game but, as far as MMOs go, it's pretty standard fare so far. I can see myself playing this for quite some time because of the lore, the Skyrim feel but, I have yet to encounter an MMO where the lore and/or history really has much of anything to do with the game as a whole.

That and the insane amount of spam from goldsellers as well as the lower level areas being relatively empty, already. Still, not giving up on it...

I agree absolutely with OP, I think on the whole that the game is awesome, and I'm sure will improve as time goes on, with improvements, patches, and the natural wastage of all the whingers on the Forums. I have watched the forum posts since day one, but have kept my thoughts to myself, but at the end of the day, nothing in life is ever perfect, if you take something on board, you have to decide if the positives outweigh the negatives, and for me, they certainly do here. And I apologise in advance, knowing I may be shot down in flames, but if I see WOW mentioned again, I am going to have to poke my eyes out with a sharp stick, and that may ruin my playing experience
