vMA staff? Dropped for me on my third run.
vMA bow? Dropped on fourth run.
Elemental Succession inferno staff? i can't remember exactly when I got it, but it was within 10 or so runs
Mother's Sorrow inferno staff? I've found quite a few
It's absurd- BSW isn't even that great of a set for me. Maybe a MagDK or other class with flame buffs, but on a magden, Spell Strategist outperforms it by miles.
It does drop, may the rng gods be with you.......or that rng daedric prince someone made up......looking at you @Saucy_Jack

The mighty, the Exuberant, the Omnipotent, the...Inebriated? Snugglorr the Magnificent! Made up?! What daring, what outrageousness, what insolene, what arrogance! Shame
work around the staff for the time being. I don't know what Alcast recommends as the second set, I reckon Mother's Sorrow.. that would make it a lot easier to get a staff without ruining your build.

If you want a thing, chances are it won't drop for a long time.
If you don't need/want a thing, chances are you will see it drop several times.
Hope this helps. Hope you get your drop.

May as well run the MS and work towards your secondary trial set to accompany MS.

I'm thinking about doing that, to be honest, since my final build will use MS mainbar with crushing wall backbar

people need to stop calling this rng, its not. Random means - well - random. These are not random they are weighted which completely destroys the idea that it is.
We have all see that melee magic weapons and stamina staffs drop at a much much higher rate than magic staffs and stamina melee weapons.
also the premier set in a dungeon and trial always seem to have a much lower drop rate.
What they need to do is make things actually - random and remove all the useless stamina staffs and melee magic weapons from the game.
March of sacrifices - the blood moon set does not drop a bow because bow does not process the buff. So they obviously do things like that even though a blood moon bow is needed if you dont have mael bow.
So please, its not random, its weighted drops.

This is exactly what you should do. BSW just isnt that compelling of an option to justify the farm it takes, especially if the staff will just be a placeholder. Julianos and Mother's sorrow will work just fine until you get the trial sets you are after.

@Oreyn_Bearclaw Thank you for the advice, I think I'll lay aside the BSW pieces I already have in favor of a Julianos/MS build with the Zaan head/shoulders I've already got.

That's interesting to know, thank you. Though I have a general idea as to where I'm going with my end game build, I'm still learning, so the advice is helpful. Do you have any suggestions for which may be more versatile?
