O I've done vBRP in all roles but I am certainly not a part of the group in the video lol. Just thought it was really cool how a group utilized TWO healers to push score. Yea they have more damage than a healer with just ele wall, but the total number of healing skills they have is more than one healer could fit on bars.

Exactly true; just burst heal would be boring: tanks just taunt, DD's just spam skill. The healer role is so hard to define because it is simply the most varied in terms of how they are played either by choice and group/content dynamics. It's really a unique role with the most variety by far. I've shelved for a bit to focus elsewhere but will be excited to focus on it again in the future.

OP keep at it if you enjoy it. You can do whatever you want with it as many have noted above.

I have done dungeons without healers but with healers things are just smooth and experience is way better.

Especially if they provide some HoTs and resources, I refuse to go without healer or a tank.

One dps does something wrong then it all go down the sinkhole and annoying.

I only play healers, but as has been mentioned, my back bar has destruction. I also equip armor that helps purge and boost damage output for the team. I tend to stick to solo play, so I haven't tried her in the harder dungeons, but at least she isn't fake healing for faster queues and I can contribute as needed.
Blessed are those who explore the unbeaten path...

As others said already, you may keep your healer just know that you will have adapt to group i.e. while keeping HoTs on everyone is helpful, you won't get much love for doing 10k DPS in vet dungeon with competent people. You gonna have to learn to switch between roles of DPS or healer depending on content and group.

True healers are needed for trials and usually welcome for FV, MF and LoM hardmodes and maybe BRP. Depending on the group, you can easily switch to DD for other content or a DD/healer hybrid (providing essential buffs while still doing decent damage)

There is no important difference between a character that is a magicka templar healer and one that is a magicka templar damage dealer. For example, you could fill both roles:
    • With all your attribute points in magicka.
    • With the same distribution of champion points. (A healer might want more points in Blessed than a DD, but at almost all points in a run those would wind up being wasted anyway.)
    • Using the same food/drink and same potions.
    • With the same choices of skill morphs. (Ideally, a healer wants Luminous Shards and a DD wants Blazing Spear. Big deal.)
    • Wearing 5 pieces of Mother's Sorrow and 5 pieces of Julianos -- with Weapon Damage and Absorb Magicka enchantments -- and the difference between that and more ideal gear would be small. (Example: It would be better for a healer to wear a set that gives Major Courage, but the contribution of that to group DPS is under 4%.)

Sorry but there is barely any point in playing healert end game..

    You clearly don't play endgame.

Make sure to have some dps skills and gear for solo PvE content. Addons like DressingRoom Reborn or Alpha Gear allow you to quickly and easily switch between different gear and skill setups. (Choose your mundus for versatility in both roles). There is some solo content that is TERRIBLE for a straight healer setup, e.g. Maelstrom Arena.

As a healer, you get into random dungeons pretty fast (tanks are fastest), but have a really challenging role, since the DDs and sometimes tank are often stupid and make you work really hard to keep them alive (plus don't understand the limitations of how a lot of healing abilities are only a limited range directly in front of the healer etc.). Being a healer requires a specific mindset and a lot of practice/experiencing on when to buff, DPS, or heal the group. You need to learn all of this before you will be ready for vet dungeons and trials.

Another situation where healers are very popular is in Cyrodiil PvP. Keep up some AOE heals on the group and you will get a lot of Alliance Points fast.

The one situation where healers (and tanks) suck is that most bosses (e.g. world bosses and bosses in IC) only drop loot for the 12 highest damage dealers. If you are focused on keeping people alive, you might not qualify for loot in large groups. This is not a problem in trials, but does affect certain events.

Keep in mind that if you decide you can't do the healer role well, you can always respec your attributes and/or skills entirely, for not that much gold. Your Templar could go straight mag dps, or stam dps, or even tank. It helps to have a lot of skill points though, in any role - keep levelling up and questing.

If you love healing you should stay with healing.

As you get more experienced you will know when you are in a good group that does not need much heals, so you can swap out some healing skills and add in more DPS skills, and in the end, everyone is happy.

Also do not forget: Healing in this game means: A bit of heals, a bit of DPS, a bit of buffing and a bit of debuffing.
And so the Elder Scrolls foretold. You will be shy, and I will be bold.

Good healing is very much needed at endgame. Templars are well-suited to the role because they bring all the basics: HoTs, burst heals, strong debuffs, good group buffs, and respectable damage.

That being said, it is a thankless role most of the time. I’ve got a couple people who’ve recognized a great run with my healer and it warmed my heart as much as it surprised me.

As a healer your main job isn’t actually healing per se. I agree with the person who calls it “support” instead since that’s more accurate. Your job is to look at the group, and provide what it needs. If incoming (or outgoing) damage is super low, swap out healing for damage. If your dps are very strong, focus more on buffs/debuffs to boost it. If your group is getting hit with consistent heavy damage, use more defensive buffs and straight healing. If you having to move around a lot, shift to HoTs. If it’s a stack and burn, place ground HoTs then join in the damage dealing. If the fights last a long time, gear for sustain assistance.

Healing is the most versatile role, and can save runs. As a tank you end up at the mercy of your group. As a healer you can fill in the shortcomings of the group.

To learn and fully understand ESO,
you should have a DD, a Healer and a Tank.

    - DDs (mostly) only have to care about themselves
    - Healers care (Healing, Buffs, Ressources) about the entire group (with Tank as 1st priority)
    - Tanks have to care most about mechanics and need the best understanding of the game

So if you just want to have fun, start and play as DD.
Next, you could go for a Healer to play a more complex role.
Finally, playing Tank requires the most understanding of the game.

The more you learn and the more roles you can play, the more fun you will have in ESO.

Healer's and tanks are more viable than ever. If you don't have a good healer or tank in harder content, you're going to have a bad time...mmkay? Lol
