I don't pay attention to it, but I can understand your feeling. It's like if you had reached a limit that needed to be maxed continuously...

Yes, the character selection screen could use some serious changes.

weird thing is, it hasn't always been like that. I wonder why they changed it

because they opted for allowing us to manually arrange the character order instead. personaly i prefer it to "last played character is at the top" mode.

The game is communicating the fact that you can have more characters and that you are currently at your max.

Seems reasonable to me.

I mean... how much time are you actually spending on the character selection screen? I spend *maybe ten seconds a day there, and that's only if I have to scroll down to a different character. Otherwise it's about three seconds.

No, they are not. The people I've seen most vocally rejecting microtransactions are very much for mandatory subscriptions. I know I am. It's actually the microtransactions model that creates freeloaders (some pay so all can play), not the other way around.

Are you sure about it? For me im always on the last played character. Maybe a differance due to platform , im on ps4

Not sure how much time you spend in that screen. For me it's just a few seconds and I've never noticed it.
I'm at 16 of 16 characters and can buy another 2 - maybe it's there and I'm just used to it. Life has real issues for me to deal with.
