Performance Improvements
Frame rate stability improvements have been achieved by optimizing several systems. This means you will now encounter fewer drops in framerate, maintaining a smoother display of motion on screen. Please see below for a brief explanation of the technical work that was completed to support this.
  • Optimized multi-threading implementation to improve performance in situations with lots of effects (particles, projectile effects, weather, etc.) happening at the same time.
  • Optimized specific processes that could cause spikes in resource usage and cause FPS drops.
  • Parallelized the fixture update processes, allowing them to utilize multiple cores to improve overall performance of the game client.
  • Added additional miscellaneous CPU optimizations including the following:
    • Parallelized terrain loading
    • Optimized the Tutorial GUI
    • Optimized compass pins
    • Miscellaneous function improvements

Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.

This stuff is one of the last chances I am willing to give the game in terms of performance improvements.
    I hope it won't disappoint.

This is seriuosly needed on consoles. The game is on its last legs at the moment. Terrible performance.

While all that is welcome change I still expect the multi-threading to remain fairly limited.

I seem to recall that they said that more work is coming.

Went around a bit on PTS tonight; not a lot of time to do much other than travel around to various places where I consistently get framerate drops and skips. Overall, much better. There are still places where the framerate falls, but not as badly and it recovers quickly. A lot less pop-up of objects when you're riding overland at max speed. Shorter load screens entering and leaving houses, too.

Going back to the regular server you really notice all the framerate ups 'n downs and micro-stuttering. If this holds up when the server is full, then it's definitely on the right track.

Is the performance better with a lot of addons as well?
