I'd like to be able to somehow adjust the AI of my summoned critters. That winged twilight is a bloodthirsty little bugger; she will zoom off and engage folks that are far enough away that I normally would NOT have to worry about them.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

I'd like to add my support to this thread. I play Sorc, and only Sorc. Simply because I adore having a pet at my side. You might even see me running around in heavy armor, mace & shield with my two pets trailing along behind me.

If they were to add a taming class, placing it in the world set would work nicely. Or you can make a whole new guild to support it, added weapon maybe. Like a whip that can support the pet with unique skills that have a main, or added effect, of buffing the pet's atk, def, atk speed or what not.

A questline, unlocking it, searching through the world for specific creatures. That nice little quest addition of red choices you can't go back on would be superb in choosing a certain path for a certain creature. Finding the spot, entering a solo instance. Finding an adult dead or rabid, young pet cowering. Either killing the rabid parent, or watching it die to the attack, rushing to save the pup, kit, kid or whatever. Placing it in crate. Taking it back to be healed and help in rearing it.

Pet escapes, gets sick, or even is kidnapped. You have to deal with the events. Make it complex, EARN the pet you want instead of the - Tame, check, nope, release, Tame, check, nope, release. In succession like they were disposable.

    -Sincerely,
    Aree Soothayer. (Complete Petoholic)

I really like the idea of a taming skill line.

How about making it a bit more meanngful by making it difficult. E.g if there is a special Lurcher pet that you can tame, you need to have killed 1000 lurchers before the quest to get the pet drops.

That would really make it feel worthwhile and special.

I'm all for combat pets, I alternate between my Wolfhound and my Ice Wraith while playing my Nord character and it would be nice if they can help me out a bit. I don't need them to kill slight chip damage and to get the attention of npc enemies in a group would be nice.

I want them more for role playing purposes than anything. Yeah the vanity pets are nice but they have no "weight" so to speak their just there... and I want to role play my Nord with his large war horse and hunting/war dog.

"Who will ride fiery, ahead of the legions, Nag for a steed, and crusts for meal, Temper his sword in the heat and in ice storms, Sleep on straw pallets, labor 'til dawn, Bring down the armies of Molag-Bal, the walls of the Imperial City and tear down the Dark Anchors that plague the land? Who can do this task, with but only a handful of brave men with courage in their hearts..."

I really want combat pets in this game, but again as another poster stated, they need to work on the AI for the combat pets and give us some method to control the pet.

They used to have that for the werewolf pets. You could focus their attacks by heavy attacking. But when they gutted the WW playstyle and rendered them irrelevant, one of the nerfs was they turned the pets into uncontrollable snaring DoTs that don't even work on bosses.

You can get combat pets from the helm/shoulder sets.

So aggravating when Shadowrend procs and he's off tanking and Minor Maiming some add in the corner while the boss is wailing on your doing full damage. At least make the pets focus on the biggest threat..... they would be so much more useful.

''If ya need a wow pet in ESO I hate to tell you it ain't WoW. Sorcs get the familiars..want a pet? make a sorc! Simple and no watering down or significant changes that only lead to a fun game going F2P with an item mall...this is EXACTLY how it starts...too hard i need a pet to kill for me...sigh..not again!''

Your fully aware there are very good odds this game wont stay subbed forever dont you? People will play the first month then some if not the majority will leave the game until it becomes free to play. Many Beta tester stated and Angry Joe included that ESO didnt bring in something good enought to be worth a sub. I play it right now and to be honest the first thing you notice in the chat is all the utherly displeased player who talks about not staying. This game only got released that already we have a good thousand of angry disclaimers?

If anything ESO will release Paid new expension box and a cash shop before long but mark my words its subbing day are numbered. ESO will not go FTP because of battle pets but because of buggy quests, absent bosses, constant game crash and a somewhat bland player questing progression wich seems to *** off more then one.

Oof you guessed it years go
