I mean in the USD it’s the same price as last year $40 dollars, I’m fine with that price because I still get enjoyment out of the game.

    This ^

for me the digital upgrade non-collectors costs £3 (£33) extra compared to summerset and elsweyr
and then the collectors edition is like an extra £5 (£45) is bassically nothing, I never appreciate increase in prices but its really not that much of an increase.

heed the others here, how much a company is taxed in the region they are selling in often effects prices this is why no single expansion, DLC or game is every the same price every year unless the region in question is experiencing some level of economic instability causing higher tax rates and so forth. Prices will fluctuate if its really that bad for you, wait until a sale otherwise bite your lip and make the purchase if you want it that badly because the prices wont change now. They've never changed once announced not until after launch anyway.
Ah, e-communities - the "pinnacle" of the internet............yeah, right.

    They’ve totally misjudged the price

No offense but that judgement will be made based on how well this sells. For us we will probably not know until next year. If the 2021 chapter sells for less it will demonstrate Zos overshot the price point and had to adjust. If it sells for more or even the same price that says we are buying it at volumes Zos is pleased with.

Again, do not like the price then wait for it to go on sale. Unless you are with a somewhat serious raiding group there is no rush as the story will still be the same story later this year and even next year when this is moved to the DLC status.

Considering summer set and elsewyr were both 20-25 quid , and this is more than double my statement holds

I’ve bought every chapter so far and I pay eso plus and buy extra crowns but I’m dammed if I’m paying more than what COD, GTA V and horizon 4 came out for
(FYI most A grade titles are 40-45 on release)

Take in to effect fluctuation of the usd in your currency, prices for other currency will never remain the same as the usd gains and losses value. Zos is a us based company thus their value goes off usd.

This has nothing to do with USD. The price is in gbp. If you want to equate it to usd the standards is 71 and collectors is 97 based on the rate right now

    It’s too much

Seems like you guys got a deal if you paid that little for Summerset and Elsewyr pre-order. [Removed for political reference]. Makes sense because I doubt Zos is more that doubling the price of it from last year. If so other factors are in play.

Again, if it is more than you want to pay wait for it to go on sale. A few months does not make that much of a difference for most players.

I sub so haven't had to spend anything since elsweyr and have everything unlocked. I assume it will be the same this time around so $40 is ok for me. If its higher in your country its not ZoS its your government.

Wait till the 2021 chapter is launched, get the 2020 chapter included in your ESO+.

Or get Greymoor now, but pay for the "early access".

    Simple as that.

You mean like you could buy <AAA Game> for $60, and it's DLC over the next year for $50+. . . or you could wait, and buy the "GOTY edition" with all of that, at a later date, for $30?

Yeah, how dare they. /shocked :|

I bought Elswyr. I did NOT have to Pay each quarter for the new Update. It all applied to the game as it came out. I do pay for ESO+ but I would be buying that with or without the new content.

Cancel your ESO+ and see what happens to those DLC you thought you paid for with Elsweyr. Unless you used your ESO+Crowns to buy them, you will lose access to them once your sub runs out.

It does annoy me more than a bit when I have to pay for the sub AND pay for the upgrade. WoW was horrid in that, so is ESO to a point. (DLCs are what WoW would have called X.Y patch in many ways, so it is still a bit of a money grab.) I am not happy with it, but I keep paying it as long as I am playing the game.

Also that sucks and im sorry you had to go through that. Hope you heal fast and somehow the money comes back to you. You are also right.. I would pick healthcare over a game but I also wouldnt pick being a staving kid in Africa.. I can still talk about other issues without starving *shrug* (Im not insulting you and agree with you. I hope this does not come off wrong).

All I know is I could almost buy a AAA game for this price... All they do is add a few bits of group content and a small zone to quest in. Its not the same as a AAA game and it shouldn't be so close to AAA price... *shrug*

And before anyone says "YoU jUst DoNt pLAy AlL ThE ConTenT".... I have 100% every zone for lore, earned all housing achievement items, finished every dungeon and trial on hm and yes that includes vCR+3 and I have every dye apart from a few alliance rank dyes. Some can say "well you got your moneys worth" but others can say "this will be another toyota update so dont charge the price of a mercedes...".

Ya if you don't sub, so that's fair. If you sub to any game it's a common price + the sub. This current gamer culture were you expect awesome content for free or next to. Sad.

The least one can expect is a working basegame, yet ZOS failed to deliver even that.

This curent gamer culture of "i pay any shite, regardles of the quality" is not sad but the issue that causes this horrendeous prices/monetization.

60 Australian dollars is 41.19 USD, only slightly higher price than in US.

If it’s too expensive for you all you have to do is wait and it will be $10 or so this time next year.

Personally I think $2 a week is perfectly acceptable for the annual update of a game I enjoy.

That was last year and my out of pocket was $10k. Insurance covered the rest( another $6k a year). Yeah socialized medicine wont work here. That is why we mostly ignore such things. I wont go into a lot of detail but lets just say we cover a lot of the research costs of new medicines and such.

Im married to a Brit so i know quite extensively about how things works outside of the US as she is also well traveled. The US government is not near as efficient at getting things accomplished as other countries. So socialized programs would only further tank us. Our government needs fixed and made functional, then we can worry about other things. As is now that would just be another money sink. Also our actual healthcare is far better than everyone elses if you can afford it.

Back to the game, if you dont feel its worth your money dont buy it. You know in a year it will be free anyway and it will probably go on sale for half the price 3 months after release. So that is a personal decision for everyone, if it is worth the price to them. That is is capitalism.

The thing is its not a year of new content, they are going to charge people for dungeons and story dlc separately, so it is 1/3 of the years content. While i will prolly buy it, i do acknowledge i make a terribly poor decision by paying them so much for so little.
CDPROJEKT RED is developing Cyberpunk for close to 8 years now and they are going to ask 60$ for it, huge game, with hundreds of hours of content and many years of development in it for 60$. Knowing this how can you justify the insane price of that tiny chapter?

Is it?! I hadn't even checked yet, waiting for payday. Idk now. I always pre-order, but might need to wait this time. There are two of us playing too, so that'd be £110. Not sure I can justify that. Whatever, it will definitely be a tough choice when there are so many other games coming out that I've got my eye on, Cyberpunk being only one of them. I thought I only paid £40 for Elsweyr digital upgrade collectors, perhaps my memory's wrong.

The price is the same as last year. If you don't want to pay that but want to play it, you have options.

    1) Wait until second half of 2020 and it will go on sale
    2) Wait until 2021 chapter releases, get access to greymoor with eso+ (if pattern of chapters becoming dlc continues).

That's the way it works. If you want to play it as soon as it drops, you have to pay the full price that is no more expensive than last year.

$55 CAD for digital upgrade for me. I could spend this money on Cyberpunk 2077.

and if that is what you prefer to spend your money on go ahead. You should. Zos probably understands as they do not expect everyone to pre-purchase the chapter and expect some to never buy it.

The only players that really need to buy it are serious raider so they have access to the new trial. Every one else can safely wait until it goes on sale at a price they are willing to pay. I am pretty sure Zos is not going to pay any attention to a post that suggests the player will not buy the chapter or spend their money elsewhere.

It really is that simple and

I also think the chapters are too expensive, I've never purchased a chapter on release day, I just wait until it's on sale. I picked up Elsweyr last week and I've been enjoying it. Once I've quested through it I'll probably switch to another game, if I have time.

As others mention, you can almost purchase Cyberpunk for what they ask for the chapters in some currencies.

There's just not enough content in a chapter to defend that price, considering how much they reuse 3d models. We've already paid for the development of many of the models they use in the chapters and they charge us for it again basicly.

Can someone clarify for me..I thought ESO+ gave you free access to DLC content after a year of release. Does that include the chapter release as well? I bought Elswyr because I thought my ESO+ only gave me DLC access like dark brotherhood. Am I misunderstanding DLC vs. chapter content?
