What is up with noob bullying?

I'm not sure where the blame can be placed in cases like this except with the individual. There are a few good places to grind and level and often the people that are busy farming the area are actively hostile to anyone who disrupts the pull order or decides to jump in alongside. Why they would automatically assume that someone is a noob when they're doing the exact thing that the other person is doing is really anyone's guess. It's happened to me, too, so I get it, but I don't think it's necessarily indicative of anything particularly endemic - probably just some jerks who don't like the idea of other people encroaching on 'their space'.

People get salty and toxic when “their” leveling place is having XP watered down. Think they own the place.

You always get some people who think they are more entitled to farm an area than anyone else whether it be for XP or mats.

When arriving in an XP grinding spot take a bit of time to see if a group is running, follow their rotation if possible.

Either they invite you to the XP farming group or they insult you in chat till you leave, if they want you to join they group, you may as well its faster, if they act like idiots in chat, simple close chat and keep doing what your doing for a few hrs.

No matter what anyone says you have as much right to any grinding spot as anyone else and if they are choosing a high traffic spot like Spellscar, they have to expect to get interrupted there are other grind spots out there perhaps not in as convenient locations right next to a wayshrines.

No big deal. Just whisper them to screw off, block them, then go about your business. I always think it's kind of funny when competitive farmers get all bent out of shape because they think you stole their node. Funnier yet when they start swinging their big sword at you.

On another note, it's unfortunate that mats aren't instanced. The grind is bad enough...let alone having to compete for them.

I would suggest against whispering anything, as that will only escalate and stir up a situation. Ignore them and do your thing, block them if you would like to and do not let anyone else dictate your experiences.
If they push or say something stupid, screen cap and report.

    Bullying isn't limited to noobs.

I had a guy get pissy at me and a friend for fishing in the same hole as him and his friend.

Eventually we deduced this was because of a glitch with the fishing food and the number of people at the fishing spot, but he never explained it and was only insulting. Once we pieced it together we followed them anyway for being a knob.

:) I've been in delves with enemy players before where we worked together. I waited for the other player before I started fighting a boss, though at times it's difficult to not damage the other person. Cast Fissure on my Warden without thinking and but was able to run in a different direction so that it didn't hit them.

Also re. Spellscar... there is a QUEST associated with the area where you have to activate the pillars. In areas that are popular for farming that also have quests, it's frankly annoying at times to have farmers pulling these giant mobs when I need to kill them to progress in the quest... This isn't the case 99% of the time, but it's still a quest area...

People get super protective of their Spellscar XP. :D When my friend and I were wee noobs we didnt know what anything was or meant, we were just simple questers exploring, trying to kill anything we saw. Got insulted to hell and back for leeching, without ever understanding what it was. People get themselves into a mindset where they assume the worst intentions in people. Any community will have its idiots. I'd delight in the fact that their willingness to explain anything to you means that they keep having their farm *** up.

I very diligently annoy these kinds of entitled players. It's an open world zone. Want the experience to yourself? Go to an instance.

Yes, I'm that one butthole of a player that'll "chase ahead" if these entitled jerks rotations just to disrupt then until they leave. They are not gonna bully me into not killing whatever the hell I want, wherever the hell I want.

And if they go aggro on chat, that's when my resolve gets buffed up to impossible degrees.

    I hate entitled elitist jerks.

the people who bully noobs are just elitist.
and sure, the occasional player with an ice staff in a dungeon or going into a vet pledge with a cp 10 annoy me, but theres no need to be rude. if a noob is doing something wrong its better to tell them. and help. insulting and bullying doesnt help.

Because then they can't be jerks and toxic in chat, can't behave like entitled brats, and generally won't be happy with their own sad little lives by making everyone else angry. Aka, trolls being trolls.

To me proper farming courtesy. If there is group/solo grinding mobs wait to see there rotation on the farm and let them lead don’t jump in and try to steal it. Let quester be questers the rotation will fix it self after 1 to 2 rounds. When more than 6 players grinding errs go to another

1st off no self respecting "vet" would ever bully a noob for farming xp in spellscar, there are 3 areas if one is busy they simply move to the next, i have spent many hours there running my circuits if someone tags along then i usually wait for them to catch up and slow the pulls down so they can see what im doing and they follow now and then i get a whisper to group which i dont mind if im there for awhile. i dont own the space or the adds and nor does anybody else, everyone is free to do as they wish. bullying in any shape or form for what ever reason should never be tolerated and should be reported everytime.

Yeah, they should be instanced/personal - they are in most games, now.

Nodes are slightly different from the subject at hand, though, in my opinion.

They don't have someone's name on them, but if someone is right next to one, it is polite to run on and find your own.

Otherwise, you can be running innocently up to a node and there are people who will, intentionally, try to run up from behind you and grab it and then they will follow you around the map doing that; even if you then try to go a different way.

That's intentionally trolling someone, who did nothing to you and is just trying to go about their business.

As opposed to attacking someone who just, innocently, tries to help you kill some mobs, as they run by.

Attacking them when they don't even know what they have done wrong (because they haven't really done anything wrong!) is totally out of order.

You should've blurred every gamertag. Mods might pay your post a visit now.

But to shed some insight on why "vets" get like this, especially during an event that creates a desire to farm. Mobs respawn on timers, and when there's a high demand on farming them, players will create a mob pull rotation and everyone will group up and run the rotation together, so as to maximize efficiency in loot drops and xp gained. If a group is running the rotation and then some randoms run up and fight adds ahead of them, that's now thrown the respawn timers out of whack and interrupted the group's efficiency, thus wasting time.

I know low level players aren't expected to know this which is why I personally don't give them crap about it. (I rarely farm to begin with), but just wanted to let you know why level capped players act out like this.

Regardless, the game doesn't exist just for vets, the beasties are there for everyone, so the "vets" can get stuffed.

TBH, I might just go on in tonight and screw with a few respawn timers.

I have been playing ESO for 7 months. I was shocked at times how higher level players reacted at times. Some got verbally abusive. I didn't mind that as much as when getting into daily randoms and higher level players would drop out, often having to Q many times just to get my daily done. I have been MMOing for over 20 years and ESO has a real problem with how new players are treated. It's not good for the game. Fortunately for my wife and I, we found a really awesome guild that has been very supportive and friendly.
