I like the contrast. One is spiritual, and the other is dark, really dark.

Heh...once upon a time in a Dimension far far away...
One of my characters in AD&D got polymorphed into a Rakshasa...
This was the end result of RNG on a Cursed item my character had gotten...
My DM was quite disappointed to say the least when he found out that the Entire Campaign he had designed and planned around was based off the idea that me and my fellow companions would go on a Quest to find a Cure...for this “Curse”. Which...well...we didn’t...
who the hell wouldn’t want to to be transformed into a Rakshasa!?!?lol

The one time RNG worked in my favour and NOT the DM’s...lol

There are very similar in certain ways. Much of the Khajiit lore and aesthetic is drawn from Vedic inspirations. The D&D version of Rakshasas is primarily 'dark' and 'negative'.

However, in the actual Vedanta, there are Rakshasa on both the 'Good' and the 'Bad' sides of conflict, such as in the Mahabharata.
