Magwarden's only my alt, but I noticed there are hardly any theorycrafting threads about the class. Is it like fight club? People don't talk about magwarden?
- why do most magwardens use living trellis? I haven't finished leveling it to check, but it seems sorta crappy to me
Well I transferred over my jewellery from my templar, I definitely feel like I’m over sustaining. That’s why I wanted to get some advice to cater my gear for warden.
For more punch what do you think about new moon acolyte front bar and potatoes back bar? I use that on a magtemplar and love it. I don’t have gold Necropence jewellery but c’est la vie. It won’t fit a max mag build in one sense, but I found it a lot better than spinners in no-CP. So Necropence + Bloodspawn + NMA, back bar potatoes.
@fred4 It’s a big mistake not using shimmering shield. It’s the kind of ability that you’re not sure how good it is while using it, but do some duels against people and ask them and they’ll tell you how much burst they’re missing because so many specs are reliant on a projectile for their burst. It lets you build a lot glassier and still have good survivability.
Yea, my spec is no-CP. I should get a different BTB necklace and transfer that one back to my templar, but whatever. 2x swift I’ve also been using on every mag spec these days. The stats look lower, but it’s invaluable for making melee attacks miss while kiting. I bought multiple BTB gold rings when they were up on the vendor to compare, yea, 2x swift is awesome. Stats never tell the whole picture.

Sure "Shimmering shield" is a fantastic skill! But on the Magden you usually just don't have the space for it!
My Skill-bars usually look like this:
Backbar: Blue Betty, Ice Fortress, Living Trellis, Dampen Magic, Mist/race against Time
Frontbar: Bird of Prey, Stun(Vamp-drain), Deep Fissure, Spammabel(Crushing Shock/Shock Clench/Cliff Racer), Inner Light or Fetcher Infection
+Shimmering shield just doesn't give me what i need! Magden has already great Ult-Sustain. I don't have a issu with Range-builds. Magden is even with just Bloodspawn realy tanky.
i need mobility and dmg(Especially in the Execute area)!
I am currently using a speed-based build with:
Bloodspawn/1Domi+1Armor pice
5 BTB-body (necro should be better, but I just didn't have a complete set)
Marauder's Hast-Jewelry+SnB Backbar
Willpower Shockstaff Frontbar
I haven’t golded all my gear yet, but I used some prismatic glyphs and tried living trellis. Yea, it’s great. I put it on my front bar and back barred dampen.
Has anyone tried daring Corsair? It says it gives minor heroism when you use a weapon ability, does that include resto staff abilities like radiating regen?
Hum, after playing more I wish I’d have gone nord. Using Chudan makes you too glassy, one more back bar slot would make a world of difference.
I’m also finding it annoying to have to rebuff all the time. Typical stam either try to burst you down or go dodge rolly for a bit. Having to refresh everything all the time can get annoying.

Chudan is realy bad for Magden! Minor Protection is to good. You should try Bloodspawn, Necro, Potentates, Willpower/Masterstaff.
Nord would be a great choice too.
What do you need to rebuff all the time???

Anyone tried the ice clench? I’m thinking of what to use when Invig drain has been nerfed.
Instead of going for a stun use a root stammable.
I was messing around in cyrodiil and feel like max mag wasn’t as effective as I’d like. Anyone tried a high pen build?
I also messed around with rapid regen instead of radiating regen. If you get a noob on your BG team it’s pretty inconsistent for self healing. I’m not sure how to balance solo vs team play.

I stick to lightning staff for the aoe passive.
For the stun i use artic blast, it's much better than i thought.
Max mag is still effective. I got 50k magicka, 2450 spell damage (up to 3450 with Balorgh)
For healing i just use living trellis and artic blast. In case of an emergency i kite with mist then spam living trellis while blocking (i run S&B instead of a resto staff. Also my resistances are quite decent buffed only with ice fortress and they go over 30k when my health is around 60% (i'm using Pariah)
Overall i'm quite tanky but i also got decent damage.
