that makes no sense to me - if you dont want to participate in an event just dont - i left out a lot of them or participated only some time
Events become filler. Less focus on something new. Its recycled.
I know I don't have to do them. I didn't do this year's New Life for the above reasons.
ESO gets 4 updates a year which is A LOT for an mmo - these events are fillers yes, but they are fast and easy to do for zos - your argument would only make sense if the events would detract from a lot of development resources which could be spent elsewhere which i doubt is the case...
it all comes down to how much development time spent vs how much of an impact to how wide of an audience you can achieve
I'm glad they reduced the Betnikh requirements (less killing, no belching on players unless you really want to). It would be nice if you didn't have to dance and perform so many times, maybe reduce the random mudball requirements to five. Maybe add more cash options, like the War Orphan's Sojurn. And add an Imperial task, as has already been mentioned.
So tired of Skinchanger motifs and the same old recipes, how about something different? The free lights are nice, but how about adding a rarer chance at the whole furnishing plan? And why in the name of Sithis do they insist on making runeboxes and style pages unstackable and unbankable? Makes absolutely no sense. And don't even get me started on requiring hundreds and hundreds of heartwoods!
Overall, a fun event. I get that people claim to be suffering from event burnout, but I'd rather have too many than not enough. It may be hard to restrain yourself from partaking, but it's still a choice.
This was my third New Life event and this is what I noticed.
Day 1 was crowded at the various venues, but by New Years Eve afternoon, I was the only fishing in Shadowfen.
This is probably because experienced players know you can get through all eight quests in one sitting. You can take care of any new characters you have created in the first couple of days and then you are done.

Khajiit would like to see her somewhere else during the rest of the year - or see her wandering like M'aiq.
If you talked to her yes she could say lots of things about it not being Fishmas yet and gathering ingredients for her magic mead etc.

I enjoy the New Life festival, but I also don't overdo it.
I had one character that didn't have the acheivements, so I got him done in the first couple of days, after that, my plan was to do just one quest per day for the tickets, but Breda can be very convincing and some days I found myself doing all 9 quests before I knew it.
There are a lot of fun little bits that I enjoy that reveal facets of each race's personality/culture.
I didn't worry about the Skaal pages until I had my next set of feathers, then I started buying the ones I still needed with my tickets and just bought the remaining ones from guild traders/traded with guildies yesterday. No stress there.
My second character is almost done with the New Life Writ achievement, so I hope she can get that next year.I'm glad they reduced the Betnikh requirements (less killing, no belching on players unless you really want to). No, no, no! The mudballs are my favourite part!
Yeah, they should fix containers that have set contents to be bankable (containers are not bankable because of an exploit early in the game where people would bank containers from low level alts and open them on their max level characters for highest rewards). This was my third New Life event and this is what I noticed.

I kept my fish from last year, so once my newest character got the achievement for fishing 5 of each, I just went straight to Gentle-Heart with last year's fish. She did not seem to mind the smell.

I turned mudball festival into it's own mini game of Stealth splattin' players . The hide and seek aspects of this in Skywatch we're a blast and I made it a point to not get balled before acheiving 10/10 of my own.

Pretty much.
That's the kind of Anniversary event I enjoyed. One that rewarded you for doing the DLC. IC is often so empty, but that got people into a zone and being (more or less) multi-player-y.
New Life, Witches' Fest, and those of that model are just 'do-the-same-dailies' again. I know there are new people every year, and good for them to do it! Great stuff!
I'm glad they added in some new recipes for Witches' Fest. The new tank gold food, and so easily obtained was great. I have no idea how much time it would take to make (even if just new skins) of these quests, but, I can only jump off the bridge in Eastmarch so many times.
Anyways, that's my unpopular opinion and my debrief for ZOS. TL; DR: more IC; less New Life.
