It would be nice to have a visual representation of whether a ZOS response was an actual developer, or just a forum mod telling people to be nice. I can't tell you how many times I have clicked on the Z looking for a dev response to something only to see a forum mod warning people. Using the dev tracker is just as bad since it includes posts from all languages and requires the extra step, not to mention generating all that unnecessary forum traffic.

Only if forum mods get "cat herder" icons and community managers get the "this is fine" dog icons.

I just assume every [Z] is a forum disciplinary notice.

It's hard to be disappointed when you expect nothing.

yup, check the dev tracker if you want to see if their is a ZOS post that might matter. but they really don't post anymore, were kind of at that point in ESO's life where the devs only talk at scripted events or in pre made videos, etc.

    ESO player since beta.
previously full time subscriber, beta-2024, now off and on, game got too disappointing.

Would it not be easier to give the actual posts a different icon, as giving the mods the 'correct' icon is not politically acceptable

Not a good idea. The forums only show one icon and as such when both devs and mods make a post in a thread we would only be aware of one until we actually look at the thread which is exactly what we have to do now. So the change would server no purpose unless OP is asking for a redesign of how the forum pages look.

I is easy to look in a thread, find the first Zos reply, click on the icon to go to the next Zos reply and so forth. It is really no trouble at all to do so. Pretty simple and easy.

I fully agree. I had the same idea probably sparked by the same discussion and started a new thread not aware of this one.

Well it kinda does specify the difference mods are actually listed as mods, Admins & community managers are listed as such under the persons name and next to the Z even with the Z icon just think of that as a bonafide Identifier nothing more.

I get the impression from the wording you just wanna dismiss what the moderators have to say as unimportant

Then there you be another solution: no icon for mod action. I can barely imagine any reason to actively looking for moderator action except maybe curious onlookers.

Not really as sometimes, maybe rare, moderators do provide additional information.

Either way the situation is rather petty. It is so easy to click on the icon within a Zos post to go to the next one. This is pretty much a non-issue.

For what it is worth most forums don't flag a moderated thread with an icon.
Non of the GTA forums I admin do.

I'm just glad that the moderators here are ZOS employees.

Elite Dangerous forums use "special" players to do that work for free and the result is a hideously biased forum with a good number of mods targeting members they don't like.

I know because I get consistently targeted by one such mod there. Funny how all my posts on his threads get removed...

It's so bad that Frontier had to give one moderator a "PvP moderator" title just to make people think that there's no anti-PvP agenda there.

There is BTW. Avoid Elite Dangerous at all costs. It's a textbook example of a game gone wrong.

ESO is fine. Basically nothing remarkable about this game or its forum and that is a very good thing.

Dev tracker only shows posts from community managers/devs and not forum moderators. Check that once a week (you rarely see anything new there more often) and assume that by default every [Z] next to a thread is just a moderator reply.

    Why, having "Zorro" flashbacks? :p;)

Gotta gree there, it would be neat if there was a tracker for that... like, red "Z" on white for forum mod, green "Z" on yellow for developer or something like that... just to show people where the postings that are more then thread moderations are hiding...
