Stam sorcs were using crit surge since forever and it costs magicka :shrug: vigor will still of course be stronger as a heal, but by no means it means you cant use it instead of vigor, just that it will be a burst heal, that will also provide a small stam regen bonus as a bonus.

A self heal exclusive to Dragonknights that burst healed a good percentage of their missing health and improved their health and stamina recovery. In terms of a self heal it was pretty damn good. Maybe too good, which is why it was eventually nerfed, and Vigor took the spotlight as arguably the best healing ability for Stamina builds across the board.
In recent time however, Vigor has become very boring to use. Virtually every Stamina build I have seen has been using this ability, and it makes me look back and wish that GDB was still a good option. As it stands right now actually, it would be a great ability, but it costs Magicka instead of Stamina. Why an ability morph that improves Stamina recovery costs Magicka to use is beyond me, truly, but I look at what it is capable of doing and I just get frustrated by the fact that it would be so genuinely good if it cost Stamina.

It was one of the most brutal nerfs I've ever seen in this game... a 25k health DK used to heal for 8.25 K health... next patch you had to be half dead to get the 8.25K you had healed before (at 12K health, with some luck you were able to got 4k).
We asked ZoS to change the skill, giving a fixed amount ans escalating with max health but they dismissed us. Some patches later they made Warden with dmg skills that escalate on Max Health...

Stamblades are actually having it very, very easy compared to stamDK in regards to that. Magblade had some bad nerfs though.
