PVP - What class do you consider best fitted for solo BGs?

I often find myself in situations where there are 2 people in my group, myself included vs 4 in other teams. As i play in low mmr maches i also often end up with new players and i love the possibility of "going solo" in BGs. Out of all classes ive tried so far, STAM TEMPLAR is my favorite. Ive put 3 pieces of swift on my jewlery and run medium armor + mist. I have sacrificed some damage but i can mostly pick and chose my fights when im outnumbered or my teammates arnt supporting me. Im running Krisofter ESOs "ghost" build if youre familiar with it. By far the most fun ive had in BGs since i started to pvp.

From what ive seen so far, stamina classes seem a lot more fitted for that "solo pvp" type of playstyle with the speed from medium armor + bow etc. What class do you think is best for going solo in BGs when needed?

It reallu depends on more factors.

Do you play random BGs only? From magicka side you have Magplar best suited for this with honorable mentions being magsorc and magblade. From stamina perspective Stamwarden and Stamplar are the best suited for that.

Do you play specific BGs only? Which?
Deathmatch: I would go with any stamina bruiser with Two Hander. Stamwarden is king here but probably stamDK would be my bet due to drasticaly increased survivability and zero need for mobility in DM mode.
Land Grab: You need to invest a lot more into out-of-combat mobility, therefore classes with high mobility such as Sorcerer are very good.
Flag Games: If you go with turtling strategy (take chaosball and def it till the very end) you will need some super tanky build and class. The best classes for this are Magplar, StamDK and Magwarden.

What is your MMR? The higher is your MMR (an invisible personal number that increases after every match and is used for matchmaking purposes) the more likely you are encounter super unkillable tanks and no glass cannons. High MMR Deathmatches usualy contain 3-4 unkillable tanks in every team and end by 15 minute with no team reaching 500 points. I recommend doing the same. The higher is your MMR the more you should invest into survivability if you don't want to kill no-one but get killed frequently.

Final words would be: In my opinion, the best suitted class for solo BGs no matter the mode and MMR is magplar. You can customize and adapt it to any situation.

    Magplar is my winner here.

    Great read.

I play only random BGs ( never premade ) with no specific modes, just everything that gets thrown my way. You made me realize i can carry extra set of infused jewelry with me and switch out the swift ones when needed, although i do like being mad mobile even in deathmatches!

Is there any way to see what my MMR is?

Thanks for your input! Wouldnt mobility be an issue on a Magplar though?

Currenlty Magwarden with accelrating Draing from vampire skill line is broken. You want something awesome and fun, 2H stamplar mate, power of light, toppeling charge, jabs and or unslaught with executioner its really fun. Have fun.

You know, i was actually wondering about this bro. Do you use topperling charge on a stam templar? I really like the visuals and feel of that skill but i didnt think it was efficient on a stam char?

Well in CP its most efficient as it procs of balance and with CP you do 10% more damage. However I just really like the skill the gap closer into stun. I use tri-stat food or drink depending on sets with BGs and get around 13K magica. I use this for toppeling and extended ritual. I am really liking it and for all what I come across I top tier atm on my server expect the magwarden with the broken vampire drain.

@WoppaBoem I made this build based on your recommendation! Would something like this work?

    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Special:EsoBuildEditor?id=166604

Im thinking that executioner and biting jabs can proc selenes, that would allow some sick burst dmg, paired with POTL right?

Build looks good except you don't have a stun and or longer duration snair or immobilize, so you don't have any CC that is a bit of pain to play with I find. You can fix this with hindering poison do.

I sent you my 2 builds in DM. Check them out. You cleary have a bit of diffence in playstyle looking at your draft build but just try out and you will get there. Stamplar are is a good place. 2H-er is in a good place with execute and unslaught and that lovely 30% stam recovery after a kill is just awesome in BG's.

I cant wait to review those builds. Thanks a lot man. Really appriciate it! Had no i would end up with a stamplar as my main, but so far the class seams really awsome and fun to play. Ive never really used CC and thats something i need to get better at definetely!

Truth might be worth a look if you're going with the Toppling Charge/off balance playstyle. CP off balance damage won't be a help in no-cp battlegrounds.

The only advantage of setting someone off balance is the extra damage you get with the CP talents? Thanks for the info and the link to the armor.

I agree with magplar, and don’t think a stam class is the way to go.

I understood what you’re looking for is solo queuing and being adaptable to any situation? Yea then magplar it is.

The reason why magplar is in one spec you can easily adapt from being a healer to a damage dealer, plus you can take out players yourself. Get a team of newish players who pve so aren’t healing themselves? Go healer. Get a BG with two healers and a tank so damage is lacking: go full dps. I don’t think there’s a stamina class that’s as adaptable.

I’ll link the build I use, but I’ve even won some BGs where it was 2 of us against two teams of 4. It’s not an ‘I win’ class, but adapting to be able to cover group weaknesses negates the disadvantage of getting random players from solo queuing BGs.
Looking for any guildies I used to play with:

Everything is reliable except classes that have no other burst option than dizzy swing IMO.

I had some NBs killing, tbagging me and calling me trash over and over in IC on my stamsorc. Why? Because my dizzy never hits them. What do i do? I bring my stamplar (His name is "Rolldodge this" btw.. ) and return the favor. Stamsorc and stamdk need class spammable, because dizzy sucks, why should we be forced to use a spammable that hits like 1/10 times If lucky

If I were new ( can't seem to stop playing stam NB ) I would pick a Stam Sorc.

There was a Stam Sorc that was on EP last night that killed everything in its way. I was one of the fools that kept going back and trying to kill him. 1v1 no problem, 1v2 no problem 1v5 no problem. The guy was a beast and should be named "The Punisher".

    Magwarden probably, Magplar possibly.

Both classes have tank/heal/dd trees. Magwarden stands out simply for its living trellis ability - a 2-effect ability that both acts as a heal over time while taking damage, and an instant (strong) heal when spammed. Pop that with ice fortress and you sure have a LOT of damage mitigation.

Stamina classes I am less experienced with, in the little experience I had with my bleed build, I felt it was far more situational, you focus a lot more on simply surving (without s/b bb anyway), before pushing in for a power move for short bursts. Bow build is braindead easy.

Also mag builds arguably have an easier time with rolling as they have an unused pool of stamina just sitting there to use. Esp if you play dunmer.

I should clarify my above answer with the fact that I tend to play mostly solo in BGs, I random Q and aim to be a 1-man army to bolster my team as a split away. As such I need answers to any and all situations I can get. I need to be tanky, and deal dps, and heal, kill at range and close range etc..

Stamina builds I have always loved stamsorc, but their passive healing from crit surge is *** poor so you barely want to use it. They're nice and easy to play though allowing you to free up mental space for playing as best you can without worrying about say, this games trash stealth system as a nightblade.

    Here's the spec I play @Mariusghost84

    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Special:EsoBuildData?id=189573
(I heal in other settings and sometimes leave the ritual mundus and it performs just as well)

Basic combo is: Light - Toppling - Sweeps spam, or if there's a tanky DK: Light - Dark Flare - Toppling - Sweeps spam (Dark Flare is also good for those Warden cross healing premades).

I usually hang back a bit at the start of a match to see how things are going to play out and heal, lots of heavies on my resto bar. Once people have blown their ults or someone's under pressure I pounce and finish people off. It's also good to hang back to see who you're playing with, there are lots of good solo players and the good ones will quickly adapt to their team so you'll do well. I remember there was one DK who's follow my dark flares and time their burst around it, stuff like that, almost as a rule of thumb those who run off at the start are lost causes. I tend to only ult against multiple people when I'm trying to down lots of people at once, or if someone's annoying me. If you see lots of people beating on one tank, back up so you don't get ulted and dark flare, they'll go down. Against blockers sweeps spam to deplete their stamina. I use mist every time I'm immobilized basicly to save stamina. 2x swift is also really important for mist form so you don't get run down by stamina. Instead let them sprint, line of sight them, quickly heal up and pounce on them when they chase, almost guaranteed they'll be low stam from sprinting and not be able to break free and won't have defensive buffs up.

The only annoying thing about templar you'll have to get used to is there's no guarantee any heals you do will hit yourself. When you're low you sorta have to turn away from the group to heal yourself a lot.

That wasn't what I meant, sorry for causing confusion, english is not my mother language. What I mean is he should play with his team instead of making a playstyle based on solo play because in Bgs its critical to stand with your team and play together. dealing damage, healing, tanking, its all a team effort in ESO.

And nothing I hate more than a player on my team that is not contributing to the team effort, Its disrespectful for the rest of the team.

Not sure about the rest but i can promise u If u try to hit a medium armor user that knows what he is doing, u are going to miss a lot. Only times u will hit is when u stun them first and 1 dizzy is not enough to kill them, my dizzy has a tooltip of 24k, thats enough to bring them to very low hp, but that execute will miss short after because they shade or roll away

Hell no lmao. Stam is the main reason I die on my mag toons. I get CC’d I run out of stam breaking it, I get CC’d again I use an HoT and spam burst heal to survive the blitz while I’m CC’d. I get out I pop a pot and then I can usually mist around a corner and reset but if I have multiple people on me chances are I’ll get CC’d again with my pots on cool down and die. I feel like stam is always a problem on my mag toons.

My stamden wood elf though always has stam to spare I feel like. Only time I run out of stam is if I get overly aggressive chasing a kill. And to answer the OP question stamden is a good class solo. Hits hard and had has really really good survivability. But you should always play as a team on BGs.

I happen to get into a few BG's like that, unkillable tanks and long match that ends after the timer, but it feels like it's random, sometimes i'll get those matches and others times i'll be against very squishy playeers

Unless it’s the premade I ran into the other day that had two healers that heal for over 200k 3 mins in the game and another that healed for over 100k. I was 0-2 with 230k dmg and the premade ran up the score to 150+ quickly. All within like 3 mins. I left immediately.

I’m not sure, I get a sense I am when I see the same people in most of my games. I think it’s safe to assume you are at 1k+ BGs played.

On my old main I was, I rerolled templar and now am not. I had to reroll again because my pvp guild switched factions and was not.

Unless it’s the premade I ran into the other day that had two healers that heal for over 200k 3 mins in the game and another that healed for over 100k. I was 0-2 with 230k dmg and the premade ran up the score to 150+ quickly. All within like 3 mins. I left immediately.

Usually those teams dominate if you have weak team mates. If people aren’t healing themselves, you get too many NBs on your team, or people are running off doing their own thing then yea, you aren’t going to win.

It can also happen if people are too tanky so can’t kill anyone. If people on your team are tanky, you can win as long as everyone’s focus firing making a pure healer a downside to your team. A lot of times all people need is a little push to down them, so having someone pure heal can be a negative.

I pure healed in BGs and figured this out the hard way. If your team can’t kill anyone you’ll have impressive healing done but no win. As soon as I went healer and then damage dealer when my team was pushing my win rate shot up. Lol, on that magtemplar build I linked I’d say my win rate, but because I rerolled so am getting easier matches and people would cry OP.

Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab

Currenlty Magwarden with accelrating Draing from vampire skill line is broken. You want something awesome and fun, 2H stamplar mate, power of light, toppeling charge, jabs and or unslaught with executioner its really fun. Have fun.

You know, i was actually wondering about this bro. Do you use topperling charge on a stam templar? I really like the visuals and feel of that skill but i didnt think it was efficient on a stam char?

Truth might be worth a look if you're going with the Toppling Charge/off balance playstyle. CP off balance damage won't be a help in no-cp battlegrounds.

The only advantage of setting someone off balance is the extra damage you get with the CP talents? Thanks for the info and the link to the armor.

No, Toppling Charge will set someone off balance with or without CP. BUT of course the extra damage granted to you by the CP passives will not be in play in battlegrounds. That's where Armor of Truth comes into play if you're going to use Toppling Charge in battlegrounds. Since you won't get CP passives in battlegrounds, off balance isn't that effective (in my opinion) for your personal damage without a set like Truth, giving you that bonus missing from the CP passives. If not running Truth, I'd recommend a gap closer that didn't cost magicka and drop Toppling Charge altogether. Off balance on demand would be more useful in a coordinated premade, rather than just a random group who may fail to recognize to take advantage.
