If you have goals or a personality for your character, or just wonder which deity is right for a one-off invocation or sacrifice, please share. Or if you think you know which Power would be suitable for someone's question, tell us which it is and why.

For example, if I wanted to make other people envious and rub their noses in my success, whose shrine should I be making a pilgrimage to?

Add your own questions (and answers) as well :) Serious, silly, bizarre - let us know!

I'd say Dibella, divine of beauty, love, art, and music probably has that covered.

Depends on what sort of success you had and which race you are. For example, a Dunmer is likely to make a pilgrimage to a shrine of the Tribunal or one of their saints. An Altmer might go to a shrine of Xarxes, the god who keeps records of genealogies, accomplishments, and social status.

From the typical Imperial pantheon, Zenithar is the divine of wealth, labor, commerce, and communication - so if you are successful in those spheres, he's probably the one to go to.

My main (an Imperial) wasn't sure whom to pray to when his parents didn't want to get him a pet, so he prayed to all Divines. Well, his parents still didn't have the time for a pet, and no pet magically appeared on his doorstep or in the Kvatch cathedral... but there had been a book about the Daedric Princes he'd seen at the Cathedral, and he had liked the illustrations, so he decided to pray to these guys for a change, taking turns.
And guess what - when this ugly, skinny, spiky monkey suddenly appeared out of thin air after he had once again pined for a pet, he was overjoyed. He had no idea which Prince had fulfilled his wish (he was eight at the time, mind you), but he really didn't care back then.

So... if you really, really want a pet, you might have to pray to all Divines AND all Daedra.

    Depends on the character.

My Bosmer nightblade is torn--Hail Sithis! But she also wants to honor Mereidia at times with the whole Planemeld thing.

My Khajit magwarden healer is all about Jone and Jode and would also worship any Khajiti earth goddess if they had one. She's kind of a hippy.

And last, my Nordic stamdk says she doesn't need no stinking religion; where's the mead? Though she does hope to make it to Sovngarde.

Also, GenX was vaping before vaping was cool. We were hipsters before they were.... wait, hipsters weren't ever cool. Let's blame GenY for that.
Taking stealth away from the Bosmer is like taking magic away from the Altmer, making Nords allergic to mead, or making Orcs pretty.

So what you are saying is Gen X is under Sanguine’s rule?

Upon further research Gen X belongs to Zenithar.

Hah! My parents were hipsters ... back in the 60's. Smoking cigarettes, listening to jazz, wearing black turtlenecks and soul patches (okay, Dad at least) and doing all rthe other stuff that made 60s hipsters hipsters. And you are right, they were just as uncool as everybody else.

And I agree with the GenX - Zenithar comment.

The gods in TES don't really do anything, except being inspiration for their cause, while the daedric princes are the meddling gods of other fantasy settings, including the ancient greek/roman and norse pantheons. So while talking of Dibella is well and good to try and impress the ladies, you go to Sanguine for the fun.

Zenithar is for Boomers, the last generation that in general is firmly grounded in reality, had to sneak into grubby places for Sanguine's boon, and finds self-fulfillment in being adept at following someone else's rules.

Gen X were the first who traveled the planes to enjoy imagery of scantly clad Khajiit far away from a reality where they grew up with the dread of manmade dragonfire, a damaged sky and dying forests. We are the ones who live in the today, but escape it altogether whenever we can, because tomorrow may never come, and yesterday's standing up and speaking our mind changed nothing at all. We will wait for you in Sanguine's halls.

In the literal sense, Namira. She's the Lady of Decay and her followers often prefer squalid conditions.

In the non-literal sense, Malacath is the patron of the spurned and ostracized.

There are some cool concepts regarding daedric princes beyond the 4 corners and the 3 "good daedra"

    - Hircine (The whole concept of the hunter being hunted could be exploited much deeper)
    - Sanguine (Sharon Stone's all time favorite, nuff said)
    - Jyga (order for the sake of order, but if there's no chaos, how do we appreciate it?)
    - Vaermina (Do daedra dream of demonic sheeps?)
    - Nocturnal (Way cooler than Mephala)
    - Namira (The real queen of Punks... Sid Vicious would be devoted to her)

Of course ther are those who are quite repetitive and boring like

    - Periyite (weak... but fun)
    - Herma (booooooooring)
    - Meridia (Spoiled brat)
    - Clavicus Vile (This one is fun actually, but misused... the evil genie concept could be much better)

And the other 7 I mentioned above whose insights are everywhere.
Sarcasm is something too serious to be taken lightly

I was born with the wrong sign
    In the wrong house
    With the wrong ascendancy
    I took the wrong road
That led to the wrong tendencies
I was in the wrong place at the wrong time
For the wrong reason and the wrong rhyme
On the wrong day of the wrong week
Used the wrong method with the wrong technique

    What about Peryite?

As far as I can tell, no one seems to really claim the actual garbage itself, just things often associated with it like decay or disease.

My character does her best to be a loving and caring person so Mara suits her better. Sometimes Dibella, but only when it comes to art. When it comes to Daedric princes though..... there are too many factors to consider. All I can say is I can rule out all the evil daedra like Molag Bol, Mehrunes Dagon, Boethia, and Mephala.
