Why Are There no - and Little Mention of - Children?

I don’t miss them but it would add some immersion. They added lots of stuff just for immersion.
Not adding them is probably because of some political correctness.

Social justice warriors of course. We can’t have kids play games where something might even potentially bad happen to a fictional non existent kid, but we can let them get addicted to the real gambling and loot box mechanics potentially ruining their lives forever.

@Ratzkifal huh... When did WoW add children? I stopped around MoP. Certainly don't remember them then, but that has been a while lol.

    From Vanilla.

I don't recall any mmo I've played that had children... WoW didn't, neither rift, Warframe, swtor or Neverwinter at least.

For Warframe the Tenno, Neewa in Glast Gambit and Ventkids in Fortuna are all children.

From what others have posted, I think many MMO’s include children. Certainly GW2 does. And I think most single player games, including the Dragon Age series, do as well. The Elder Scrolls series is rather odd in that way and Skyrim is the only game I know of where the children are actually obnoxious, as if done to spite players who’d commented on their absence in previous titles, Idk. Personally, I think it would have been nice and more immersive to have them in ESO and have NPCs in towns non-targets as for me it detracts from rather than adds to the immersion to have players going on a murdering spree in populated areas.

WoW definitely has children. Lot's of them even and much to my surprise they aren't annoying or in the way like the ones in Skyrim were. So it definitely can be done, but do you trust ZOS to succeed on that front?

    499974-nightbornechildfemale-03.jpg

It has a few, but it doesn't have lots of them.

You could go for days and not see one child NPC.

Or, at least, that was what it was like when I last played it, about 5 years ago (in WoD).

Might be kids everywhere by now, I don't know.

Those are the new style char models - not the original ones.
It was some kids around in places like major cities, also a bit racial as in humans and elves.
An gnome kid might be fun watch walking as the adults was amusing enough doing multiple steps / second.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

There’s a child voice actor in Grahtwood, the model used is a ghost

    Already mentioned I see:

My theory is that the planemeld happened 15 years prior to the beginning of the game. It caused all or Nirn to become infertile, so there have been no new children born since then. The youngest NPCs are about 15. Defeating Molag Bal undoes this.

Well, there's Central Elsweyr, but that's just for Khajiit.

There are also plenty of sewers, so maybe people just do their business over those manhole covers. :s

Ever see the buckets in homes...yea you're welcome.

But what if you're out and about?

(I tried to post the scene about bedpans from National Lampoon's European Vacation, but it wouldn't start at the time I specified, so...) :(

There is a 70 year old Altmer "child" in Summerset. xD

But we already knew that the high elves were thinking that way, because it's the whole reason Ayrenn wants the Ruby Throne, as the humans of Nirn are like children in their eyes. Ironically she herself is just 28 years old.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

There's another theory I saw someone mention where the Dragon Break and/or Arkay's protection (or one of the Divines) have children fissioned off into a version of reality that Vestiges (i.e. the players) cannot see or access. Presumably, once the Dragon Break mends and we're back into a "single" continuity, children will be restored along with it. I imagine this will occur at some point after ESO's timeline completes (i.e. the game is out-of-live).

...and this is the main reason game companies are so reluctant to let kids into their games, even if only as decoration. Well, that and the violence option, though they could quite easily disable that...

You been so long in the game to know that Tamriel prefer cloning than going through the trouble of child birth. It is just too ineffective, not with the amount of maniac going around killing everything that move; except wild bird. I had no idea why but no one kill wild bird during this period, and I'm not counting chicken.
