This is indeed a thing in situations where it's impossible to hit everyone with the same orb and especially in vSS fire boss where the offtank is miles away on the other side of the arena. The orb goes to the group. The spears go to the tanks.

Healers are for trials and PvP.
Correct.
Fake healers are a blessing. Actually healers are a waste of DPS.
This comment ignores a large number of players in this game. It is really irrelevant what the better players can do and that is all the comment above does. Elitism at it's best.

I try to heal dungeons, as a proper legit healer, normal base game one’s don’t count, but I tried Scalecaller Peak last night and we had like 9 wipes (3 per boss). I eventually decided I must be the problem at the poison archer guy and left the group.
I seem to have this problem with all DLC dungeons where CC or one-shot mechanics are a major thing, in this case it was either me being turned to stone and thus not able to heal, or people spreading out too far.

That sounds like "the whole group does not understand the mechanics" problem. You should not be turned to stone if you know what you are doing (don't stand in the beam and kite the pokeball until its killed if it happens to be on you) and spreading out is a general symptom of poor mechanic knowledge.

We offered to just carry them through the rest of the trial so they could get their skin, as long as they promised to stop casting a taunt.
I said before in this thread that there is no such thing as a "fake" dps, that they're just "bad" dps instead... but after looking at this (since I play on console I'm not used to these fancy add-ons, pretty interesting to be able to see all those stats from a different player), I have to admit, I'm reconsidering my statement here... Why someone with gear like that, who didn't even attack for several minutes - if I'm interpreting this thing correctly - would want to run a veteran trial is kind of beyond me.

You and I must exist in alternate universes then, because I have definitely seen fake dps before many many times.
