So since this night I have a new type of gold seller.
It happens when I load (not always but 50% of the time) a character and I get this message.
When I right click the message the strange box appears.
See attached screenshot for message and strange box.
I hope you guys can do something bout this.

Sorry he just adding numerous empty lines... alcohol made my head slow.... :relieved:

The gold seller is using a clever tactic and using your chat box against you to hide his name.

They generally use a format such as the following:

[real spammer] <empty spaces to create false lines below>
    [fake name] <gold spam>

although recently they have begun using a slightly different format:

[real spammer] <empty spaces to create false lines below>
[fake name 2] <empty spaces to create false lines below>
    [fake name] <gold spam>

What you will need to do is enlarge the size of your chat box, and perhaps lower the font size. This will allow you to see the spam message in its entirety and thus allow you to right-click the spammer's name and ignore them.

There was another thread on this, where people talked about them posting something inconspicuous, making it look like regular chat from other players, before they posted the gold spam message.

There was also mention of a concern that they could use use the names of legitimate players as the fake names, and potentially getting legitimate players banned for something they never did.

Good luck ignoring them - I've hit my limit and can't block them anymore.

Dont forget that they started using colored text too.

They read these forums. Every tactic we report to Zenimax they know to improve on.

THAT would explain why I got booted one night with the message that I had "posted too many messages (spammed) chat" one night. Confused the heck out of me as I'd asked ONE question & then as I attempted to respond to a tell from another player who had answered, I was kicked off the server. I had also reported/ignored at least 2 gold spammers within probably 15 minutes of asking my question. Fortunately I was able to log right back in & I never received any sort of notification regarding my supposed spamming but this was early on, before they figured out all this new crap to make their messages longer than the chatbox & such.

That message has nothing to do with the chat or mail system btw.

It's referring to data packet messages being exchanged between your client and the server.

They should really change the associated text...
