Lore book locked

Hoping someone can help me with a lore book related question. Recently I’ve been trying to collect more of the lesser lore books (pages etc.) for Eidetic memory, but some of them seem to be behind locked doors (interactable but greyed out so you cannot enter).

As far as I’m aware I have beaten every quest, so there is no obvious way that I can see as to how to get these books... are there books that are only available during certain quests that become locked afterwards? Or is it simply a matter of there actually is a quest that I haven’t stumbled upon yet that once I complete I will be able to grab the book? Or is the location of lore books actually not where the addon is showing me it is?

Any help here would be appreciated, as I have no interest in trying to get all of them if there are going to be some that will be permanently locked due to not picking them up at the time they were accessible.

Can you show a picture of the location of the locked door?

Are you at the base of a cliff, or something similar? Is there stuff above you?
I sometimes get faked-out by that sort of thing (since the map isn't 3-D), where the book is actually on a different plane than where I am standing (I'm usually below it and I have to find a way to get to the higher ground above my head).

Not sure how to add a screenshot on my hard drive onto the forums (only option I see is to add url).

Doesn't appear to be the case, as I've had this issue in a few places where they seem to just be inside an inaccessible house.

i am not absolute about your question, so this answer might seem strange and incorrect, but from what you describe to me looks like you are asking how to unclock more books and book locations for your achievements and more book reading materials in eso.
here is an example of where to find books:

this particular location is in Shadowfen,
it shows the places to find those pages and books
    shadowfen.jpg

and if you scroll down on this page it will give you all the zones and locations in eso, to find all the books.

My next thought would be that there are quests you haven't stumbled upon yet that would give you access to whatever doors you aren't able to open.

No, I am already using such an addon that shows all of the locations, and they show certain books residing inside places that are inaccessible. Hope that makes sense.

As far as I'm aware I have beaten all of the quests... though it is of course possible that that there is one or two I haven't stumbled onto. What I'm looking for ideally is if someone could confirm whether or not it is possible for lorebooks to become permanently inaccessible after failing to grab them during a quest. Or if all lorebooks are supposed to be accessible once you have beaten all of the quests?

There are(or used to be, it may have been changed) Lore Books that can only be picked up during quests, where the area becomes inaccessible after the quest is completed.

I remember a lot of people getting annoyed by this soon after launch :(

If the grayed out (locked) door is for a quest that you have already completed in the past you will be locked out.

Unless, you group with someone on the right stage of the quest. That person must have crown, and also, must be on the outside of the door (or if inside, must exit and be in proximity to you and the locked door). Once that has been completed, you can enter first through the door and get whatever lore books needed. Beware, that if you disband your group for any reason a timer will start to remove you from the area as the game believes you do not belong there.

Actually if you have patience and wait for players to cycle through the area, you will most likely spend zero gold for all of the ones you are missing.

First thing to check is if the book is only available in one Alliance. It may be easier to get in a different alliance. Also, there is a huge Eidectic Bug thread on the forums that has hints to almost all of these books. People have collected every book on the game.

Also, that addon will show you the location of a book that only gets placed when the quest is active. And, once the quest is over, most of the time, those books are moved to the overland.

Add-ons will show both locations - the location inside the quest area, and overland after the quest is completed. Note that they will also continue to show old locations of stuff. There are a few, though, that do not have a second location for whatever reason and you just have to make sure to grab them when you're on the quest, or group with someone as suggested above. (There's a quest area in Vvardenfell, for example, that has a couple of notes that you can't get to after the quest is completed)

Yes, there are some lorebooks that are in inaccessible locations after you've completed the quests. Some of them you can group with somebody on the appropriate part of the quest and get back in there.

Even worse, there are at least 3 of them bugged out right now, that are completely inaccessible after the quest and/or not even on the map anymore. I only have like 40 eidetic memory books to go (14 of which are the stags of z'en motif), and the fact that I can't get a few is frustrating.
