Before someone accuses me of going to easy on the devs I think the director would make a great poster child for Peter principal.

At that, people have predicted the end of ESO almost 6 years and each has been wrong. I expect in 5+ years when ESO finally does shut down they’ll come back calling out how they predicted that. Lol

No overarching story line? They just finished up a year long story arch that - in my opinion - was pretty amazing. They even incorporated real life ventures (raising money for charity) into that story line with the Slay Dragons, Save Cats campaign. I dunno, that's pretty good.

Even the idea of doing a year long story arc using an Expansion, DLC, and events was pretty new was of releasing content in the game. It was driven more by story and providing a long lasting experience for players.

As far as grinds for gear goes, and changes in meta; I personally would get SUUUUPER bored if I was able to instantly attain any gear I wanted/need. Likewise if there weren't new equipment sets, skills, or achievements to work towards. I mean, games - for most - are play. They ARE precisely a fun way to waste our down time. I think - in general ESO - makes it interesting. Do events get boring? Sure, but I've also done they more than once in the past 4 years. That's not true for new players. And really, as long as they keep adding fun new lootz to the events, I'll do them to get said lootz; ESPECIALLY new furniture patterns or fun pets and costumes (hint. hint @ZOS_GinaBruno :P)

The Activity finder is broken. We know it. ZOS knows it. Rich Lambert has admitted it. I personally believe they ARE working on a real solution now (It is not beneficial for a company that relies on the subscriptions of satisfied customers to ignore the concerns of their clientele.) and that's good enough for me. Besides, activity finder is not a necessary thing for playing this game as far as I'm concerned. I can form groups with friends and guild-mates without the activity finder and just port to whatever dungeons, trials, or arenas I/they/we want to do.

As for nerfs in pvp/pve; my opinion is just...well...

I expect MMOs to do things to keep players on their toes. Nerfs and buffs offer me an opportunity to take a stale rotation and figure out something new. That's all part of the game for me. So as long as ZOS doesn't plan on eliminating my favorite class all together I'm okay with change.

So much salt over having to adjust a play style. smh

No don't misunderstand me, the play style has been adjusted it is more about the aggregate of all the problems turning this game downward. Now if it was WoW with seven million players then it would be ok, ESO has not got the player base to be acting this way and delivering this sort of malaise.

Last I read ESO had around 13 million players between consoles and PC.

Accounts played. 13 million accounts played.
That doesn't equal concurrent active players and doesn't take into account those players who have multiple accounts.

WoW for example, is still the biggest active MMO out there, and thier number is guessed at around 3 million. At thier height (in Wrath of the Lich King) they had about 11 million.

I see this 13 million number a lot. It doesn't mean ESO has 13 million players playing at once. Otherwise it would be hands down the most successful MMO in history, and you'd see other players/media hyping it as such, and not just on the forum, but from other franchises as well.

I'd put the active number of players between 1 million and 1 ¹/².
Again....active players, not just accounts created.

FFXIV and World of Warcraft have a bigger active playerbase than ESO. And those games have nowhere near 13 million players.

This list actually ranks them 3rd with around 500k active players, again, with WoW being 1 and FFXIV being 2.

Edit: This is just one of many lists that has ESO as the 3rd biggest MMO player-wise. This list here is an example. By all means, you can do your own research.

    Just being realistic.

I never stated that a 13 million active player base was a fact, merely an observation based on what I read. Similar to the way you stated your opinion. Honestly if it's true that ESO is third in the "MMO sea" I'm good with that.

The information Kel has provided is in line with what I’ve seen. The reporter number of copies sold is about the same as FF14, at least when FF14 has been out this long. The third party numbers for active players in both games was comparable last time I looked but it is harder to estimate that for ESO due to the decentralized trading system.

Problem is the whole death of a thousand tiny cuts risk. Too many problems on the back of a major nerf and some serious changes for players has caused a level of angst.
