Could we stop getting a leave penalty when your game crashes?

No. Seriously. Should you not be written up for tardiness when your car breaks down and you're 2 hours late for work? It might not have been your fault but you're still late.

It might not have been your fault the game crashed but you still left the activity!

Not if it's a work car. Shouldn't be punished by them because their stuff doesnt work. Your analogy sucks.

Id say that if nothing is attacked and you get kicked then you shouldn't get timer but if anything takes damage then you should this could be an safe way to not penalize a player for bad performance

as much as i hate the penalty for losing connection or other valid reason's for leaving, I do not think zos has the ability to recognise the different reasons for leaving and as this has been happening since the game came out i do not see this ever happening

to be logically equivalent, the car would have need to have been designed, built, and maintained by your place of work, in which case, i'd say that it was on them.

a better analogy: if i am responsible for something at work and my workstation does not function because IT misconfigured it, they are held accountable, not me.

Think its a matter of perspective.

I think maybe that is a little unfair comparison, you have much sway over the functionality of your car to make sure it stays a healthy car. You also have the choice of leaving earlier for work, or make backup transportation plans, in case the car breaks down. Can't do with eso, it's functionality is entirely out of your hands. Not counting crashes due to faulty pc/video drivers, but simply the occasional crash that inherently happens for many of us when playing the game. I have noticed that especially porting to another zone (this includes porting into dungeon through activity finder) has a risk of causing either a crash or an infinite load screen, both resulting in the need for the game to be closed and restarted.

All this being said I do not believe ZOS will be able to distinguish between a legitimate crash and someone force quitting the eso process/cutting their internet line, just to avoid the penalty.

The sarcasm detectors in this thread are all broken.

You all can't have taken that comment seriously...

On topic: hell no you shouldn't be penalized for crashing, there should be some kind of "abrupt disconnection detection" implemented ie you didnt manually quit or log out or leave group yourself, therefore you have a 5-10 minute grace period to log back in before any leaver penalty is applied.

hah, so I get "instance is full" on trying to go to the dungeon through activity finder... group disbands. Of course I gt to keep my penalty. Gotta agree with OP in some cases this is not working out too well.....

lol... dang I actually fell for it! I feel stupid now. I think perhaps the scary part is that your comment could might as well have been from someone who actually meant it. But I guess that's the best sarcasm, when reality is just as absurd.

The ratio of people leaving for Reasons and people getting lagged out is overwhelmingly in favor of voluntary leaving.

Besides, if you log back in immediately, you are put back in the group you were in. At least in Dungeons.

Now, if the group you were in kicks you when you crashed out, maybe you were not worth keeping around....😮
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The correct analogy would be more like:

"Should you be written up because you're late for work after your boss punctured all 4 of your tires."

    Don't feed the apologist....

That wouldn't work. People would see people they don't like playing with/against and would leave at the beginning. Keep trying.

And that warrants game instability penalizing the user of course. If there is a crash report sent, can't the penalty be canceled? They must be aware the game has a copious amount of bugs right?

Yeah being rude and abusive will ALWAYS make people more cooperative..

Oh, if you followed any of my posts, it's a slow descent into irate and rage-filled comments. I started out politely but after so many issues for a game I paid 100x over, I do not feel THAT much regret when being disrespectful (notice that I do however have a slight bit of guilt).

My tickets get answered and my catch phrase in tickets is: "How do you expect customers to remain polite when dealing with so many frustrations".

Different people expect different things. I expect a modicum of performance and stability and do not expect to be penalized because the game crashes...
