instead of creating new topic, i will update this one.

No thank you just asking this will get them to low the counts we get from each and for the leg work its less then 5 seconds to travel and come back so no and if you know the leg work and dont like it dont stack so many before doing them easy fix with no change to way or chance of change to count thank you for trying to be lazy but NO THANKS LEAVE AS IS OR PAY LATTER WHEN RATES GET *** OVER

    Slightly necro'd, but...

You don't need to keep that many surveys. The problem is that you're an ESO-hoarder! Just destroy some of them. You'll still be alive afterwards, I promise.

These days, once you're logged in, it's best to just stay logged in, and preferably not move around too much.

From the title of the thread this one thought that perhaps you were suggesting an NPC version of Mr Creative Director to go around and complete all our surveys for us.

Khajiit would support this. There does need to be some way of completing multiple surveys in the same location without zoning or relogging or doing other things that really can't help with the server instability.

Poor Spiny Tim now spends all of his days completing crafting surveys and bag space is also a problem as we get more and more places to travel to, all with their own surveys.

Actually the simplest solution is to change the surveys to be the equivalent of Treasure chest maps. Can't Stack, can't have more than 1 in inventory.

Zos lets us stack surveys, if we so choose and then people complain about stacking them up. So, by pushing for a change, it would probably screw everybody over.

    IMHO

It should just be straight forward, if you have 5 survey's of the same spot and each node gives you say 20 wood, it should now give you 100 wood and once complete it takes all 5 survey's at once.

    It's really not that hard.

From personal experience, riding away and back goes a lot faster than logging in and out, especially since you usually have a 10 second waiting time before getting logged out. Most of the time, riding back and forth takes less than 15 seconds for me.

I clear them once a week or so, except for the alchemy survey in Malabad Tor that's so annoying to get to, that one I only do with at least 3 copies of.While being able to do many at one time would be nice, it's fairly low on my pet peeves with this game.

Not a bad idea, just need to work out how to do the RNG calculation of getting certain mats from different zones like potent/fortified nirn in Craglorn or style/trait mats in other zones etc.. to reflect that your actually doing multiple surveys at once.

Would also like the survey locations in Craglorn/Wrothgar and Coldharbour condensed into one of each type like every other zone, instead of having multiple sites for each survey type of each type.

Would not mind an update to Alchemy surveys to get something like the leather traps that clothing surveys get for some of the Alchemy mats that don't currently drop from surveys.

Be nice if surveys also had a chance at dropping some furniture mats as well.

I absolutely agree with any of these changes to survey maps. Stacking survey maps in the bank & doing them en-mass once a week/month (depending) is a logical way to handle them. The current 'run away & come back' tediousness of having 5-10x the same survey can easily be changed.

But remember these things about any changes to this game:
    • they are highly opposed by the developers+zos-associated forum accounts (due to having to spend money)
    • take a very long time (due to a very small team working on the game atm)
    • will almost certainly be implemented incorrectly & have the reverse effect of reducing QoL (due to ineptitude)

So sadly it won't or shouldn't happen even though I would like it to.

From someone who has spent 1-2 hours just running around collecting surveys, This would be a huge time saver QOL feature. Even better would be a survey merchant who u turn your surveys into for the mats. You would probably lose your chances of worms, Cassiterite Sand, etc but i'd take it to save that 2 hrs.

I have never seen a bot at a survey location, although anything is possible, I guess.

It is especially annoying since it is completely unnecessary. Material surveys are a reward for running the dailies, gathering them should not be so painful and time consuming.

This. Note that yoyoing around the survey point to get *** to reset relies on moving out of the cell and increases server load. Something that ESO has problems with.
Several reasonable solutions have been noted. I would prefer to just multiply the content of each node to the number of surveys we have, but I would like almost any solution that kept me from having to run away and back or logout and back in.

I just validated that the survey is used up even if you deposit it in your mobile banker after reaching the spot, so just multiplying the nodes and using up all the surveys should work the same way without significant additional coding.

This would be my choice. I'd go further and suggest it should work that way for treasure maps as well (Which should stack in inventory)
  • sithus1966_ESO
I would be happy with the baseline node payout of a survey if I could collect all of whatever number of surveys I had on me at once. Just like refining raw materials all at once.

I ususally do surveys if I'm in the area,or when I need mats.I jsut lower draw siatance to 0 and run away til X is almost faded, and run back, works almost all the time.Thoush a all in one collect,or instant respawn for multiple surveys would be nice.

or just... you know... ride your horse like 30 meters away... by the time your load screen to even log out would have ended you would already be harvesting again.

    Cool idea.
I hate doing surveys. I wish they were less of a chore and more engaging, the loading screens is the worst part. If you don't use a specific addon is a pain in the ***.
I wish they could implement a hireling system which would farm some of the surveys for you.

I like the hireling idea - but tbfh you nailed it on the first part. Especially for us console players because we don't even have addons to ease the burdens. If I let my surveys stack up for even 2 weeks it leads to an 9 hour sessions of hopping between maps. That's not even an exaggeration, my session the other was actually 9 hours... 9 hours of doing nothing but surveys. One of my days off eaten up by a system I rely on, but that demands too much.

They take you out of the rest of the game, and imo that's bad design.

A big portion of the time being eaten is that the survey maps themselves suck and the Xs cover rather large portions of the maps at times, and being parchment maps with less details is even worse.... It's pretty hard to learn any harvest spots when there's 100s... so naturally most people will use youtube videos or player-made maps, which in themselves eat up more time to look up.

The surveys should be quests like Master Writs, and just mark the damn nodes with a quest objective. Because what we have right now is a giant, boring, tedious collection fest.
