Unsubbing - due to constant spam from gold sellers

There's no escaping it. Tonight I ignored 10 accounts within 10 minutes, and it's worse on the weekends.

It's out of control and I can't enjoy the game while constantly being harassed. It goes hand and hand with the botting that's also out of control. It's too invasive and what ever actions that have been taken have been completely ineffective.

I'm also concerned at just how much information these people are able to gather on players from within the game.

I've cancelled my 180 day subscription now and wont renew until the issue is brought under control.

    Yup.

This is exactly why I made my other thread about this, I'm right there with ya dude. Totally is killing the game. Get rid of them please!

Edit: I'm sure they will fix this soon, please renew your sub soon as ZOS is doing a great job fixing problems thus far, for a newly launched mmo.

While I don't disagree the RMT spam is very annoying, I think this comment of yours is very paranoid. Just what 'information' do you think they can possibly obtain?

    UserID, nothing more.

It becomes an issue when people use the same information for various accounts (email, bank, etc), and although that is more the fault of the person, I think Zenimax should have foreseen this security risk and not made UserIDs public.

They are annoying yes but I see so few of them on my zone chat, I'm currently playing in Bangkorai. Sometimes i get one e-mail from a spammer when i log in.
I ignore the ones i see and delete the mails and that's about it. Idk why some people feel/have this kind of problem more than others...

Well, as long as we can't change the userid, that does not help with the databases of userIDs that are already out there...

I just report the ones actually spamming my inbox. The ones on chat I just Ignore.
If we spam ZOS with too many reports it might delay any kind of procedure being taken to address this problem.

Yeah that's why I stopped....I'm sure they're cooking up a solution to both the gold spammers/sellers and the buyers fueling them. Things will change soon imo.

the patch on 4/15 seemed to help alleviate some of the spam emails i've been getting.

the spam i can live with in a way because spam doesn't stop me from completing quests and progressing. so i can live with deleting an email here and there.

what I can't live with is base game systems being broken (bank, horses), early game quests being bugged that you cannot move to the next area, things that prevent me from playing doing the things the game says i can do...that's why i might not let my sub kick in.

Gold farmers are ruining the game for me. I don't roleplay but I do enjoy getting immersed in a game and am getting annoyed when I am so absorbed only to be sent a guild invite or mail from a gold farmer or when zone chat feels like I am watching constant tv commercials. I don't play (and pay!) a game to get bombarded by advertisements.

In other threads admins have told us to keep reporting them. They have banned many, and will continue to ban them. If you unignore the oldest entries on your ignore list, you'll notice they are now silent. There are just so many of them that it takes time to keep up.
I'm sure things will change in time.

These gold farmers are extremely annoying.
Expecially for those with same Character name as their usernames.
I have reported atleast 20 guilds and over 60 players already.
I really hope everyone In those guilds got Perma IP ban,
imo, just block all access to game for Asia.

I have one guy spam me once a day in mail. And a few inviting me but hasn't been game breaking or anything. Might want to get out of those crappy guilds you agreed to be in from the..... um.... spam in the chat? That's where i got mine i think. I just got some add-on to help with it as i updated and patched! See if it helps. Games too good to cry 2 weeks in the game because of gold spam. You can go play offline you know!

I am going to lower my 3 month sub down to 1 month if the bot issues are not addressed,I don't expect them to be 100% gone as that is never going to happen but at present it is ruining my gameplay, enjoyment and after 16 days left of free time if I do not see any improvement my sub will be lowered or even canceled. This is a shame really as the game has so much potential,so much to do yet 1 thing that could of easily been sorted from launch due to how long this bot issues have been around is ruining the game and I will not pay for a game that I do not enjoy.

Over the last 3 days I have reported close to 40 bots and 20 gold ingame mail/zone spam this has been done in roughly 18 hours of gameplay,I seem to spend more time reporting than enjoying the game, sorry but I am not going to pay for that.

Strangely, i haven't had any goldseller related problems for ages.
Once i left the "starting area" all of the mail spam and zone chat spam dissapeared. I recieved 3 guild invites, but that is within a span of almost 2 weeks.
However, i can still notice that they are around. Whenever i travel to the Harborage i immediately get bombed with ads.
Might be that the goldsellers don't care about the later AD areas or maybe i'm just too boring to sell gold to.

I hate gold sellers as much as everyone else but some of you people are either paranoids schizo's or starving for attention. Zennimax will deal with it, its not the end of the world when 10 people who you don't want to talk to message you, send a guild invite or email you.

there was a brief respite after the update yesterday but they are back. I can only say dont quit a game you like cuz of chat.... unlock the window and it disappears from view until you need it for whatever. Or make another chat window and put it for guild chat, says etc. stay away from zone till this is taken care of

If they quit after that bit of gold spamming we are better off without them.
Just think about it: If Chat messages are that annoying for them, they propably flame or ragequit on the first wipe in a dungeon and other things that are actually annoying.

For all these thinking of quitting for something as irrelevant as gold spammers, the bots or bugs:
    Please do!
My game experience will propably be better without you around :D

Both horsebugs have been fixed (0.1 and 0.2 respectively). The pricing is propably intentional.

And the only bank bug I am aware of is tied to increasing the number of slots.

I absolutely hate gold seller spam too, but there are some really easy fixes.

First, turn off zone chat. This solves 90% of the spam.
Second, if you don't want to turn off zone chat, then don't talk a lot in zone chat. I usually receive spam e-mail as soon as I say something in zone chat.
Third, if you don't want to do either of those then just grin and bear it until you level up high enough to move to the next zone. Gold sellers basically sit in the starting zones. After you leave them they pretty much disappear.

Dealing with bots is much harder. The problems in the dungeons are annoying for some people. The best thing to do now is to leave the dungeon and come back when the problem is fixed. The dungeon isn't going anywhere. You can always complete it in the future.

About harvesting nodes...well this one really is awful. There isn't too much we can do about it if bots are warping around the map harvesting things. As someone who does 6 crafting across 2 characters, I love harvesting, but nodes are in very short supply, partly due to these warping bots.

Zenimax will get a handle on it eventually, I'm sure. For now we just have to move on and ignore them the best we can. What else can we do?

I never even considered my userid would be used as my in game identifier. Once I realized it, I tried to go in and change it but that's not an option. I'm fairly shocked at the decision to make your login userid public like that.

From the latest Patch Notes. (April 14th)
We’re also continuing to work on the more global issue of botting and gold spamming. These changes are happening behind the scenes and although we aren’t mentioning specifics in the patch notes, we are continually working on protecting you from bots and gold farmers. We continue to receive all your reports, and taking care of them is one of our top priorities. Thanks for sending them in and for your patience.

Also, until they are done there are spam filter add-ons, such as the one below that can auto block the spam for you. http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info89-SpamFilter.html

Uh, there are 3-4 different addons that you can use. I just have the ones for chat spam filtering but there are ones you can use for email filtering also.

I now rarely see chat spam anymore and I just delete the gold seller emails.

Unsubbing for that reason ( or actually any reason this soon after a brand new mmo starts up) is just being too picky in my opinion. And then posting about it in the forums, that's just tacky and overdone.
