I was travelling through Deshaan today and lightning struck. Sound crackled and the light flashed as heavy rain began to pour. I could almost feel the humidity in the air humming with electricity.
It got me thinking about dynamic weather conditions and why I had not seen darker storms across the land of Tamriel and beyond. My eyes bear witness to countless storms across Elsweyr, caused by the release of the dragons. Really a sight to be seen if you have not already.
But there has not been darkened skies that would require a torch.
Which lead me to my idea of craft-able or blacksmith purchasable torches for dungeon exploring.
I know that there has been the implementation of the Crown purchasable Treasure Hunter personality. Which is great by the way. So I guess that would cause a bit of an issue with some.
Anyway's back to the idea.
Darkened and shrouded "fog of war map" like dungeons where you would require a torch or bright momentum to traverse and explore. I feel that it would make momentos more useful and used than they currently are and something to aim for for new players starting main story quests. I understand that the older dungeons probably won't be reworked with this mechanic. But maybe something for the future content.
What really resonated well with me in this vein of topic was the mission in Craglorn, Rahni'Za, School of Warriors, Trial of the true path. There was a section of the mission where you had to traverse a dark tunnel while being led through by an ancient Akaviri Scholars ghost. And another in the Thieves guild quest-line where you had to use a lantern to beat back the darkness from consuming you.
Also another consuming darkness in the clockwork main story-line.
It was great to have a change from the well lit dungeons we have grown accustomed to, I mean honestly who is lighting all those torches in a dungeon that has been abandoned for centuries???
