I don't get why people say that es6 will be the death of eso

Because people on game forums like to post alarmist speculation.

It's something to do when they don't have any real information to talk about.

I was gonna type THIS lol. I’m not running out and buying ES6. EVERYONE knows it will be a buggy mess until modders fix it.

I’m giving it a year, maybe two before I even THINK about playing it. And it’s gonna have to REALLY be on sale...

Yea, All OP really said was for Zos to fix their servers. The other stuff was just fluff without any real meaning.

I also play these games for the TES franchise, so I will also continue playing ESO even after TES6 comes out, but obviously with split time. I have been playing other TES games while playing ESO since I started anyway

ESO is going to die because of the utter ineptitude of Bethesda and ZOS

After watching this mitigated disaster I have to say TES6 will probably not be on my purchase list if it ever comes out.

its doubtful Es6 will be solely a single player rpg because of the siren call of the cash shop. It will have many multiplayer components maybe like how diablo4 is doing it so they can cash in.

If the pattern holds, Elder Scrolls VI will not be a good game.

Zenimax has been putting a lot of pressure on all the developers beneath it's shell to monetize the crap out of their games. Whenever this happen, game design and game quality suffers as a result. We see this in ESO and we see this in Fallout 76. What happened with Fallout 76 is especially disgusting because players were promised one thing - gave lots of feedback in good faith wanting to see the game improve and succeed - and then had it repackaged and sold back to them at a premium. If Fallout 76 is any indication of future trends, we can forget about Bethesda developing an honest good video game ever again. No, what we'll want to watch for is Obsidian Entertainment kicking the pants off Bethesda's nonsense and making actual good video games that don't have a built in cash shop racket.

I feel the same way, although server issues will likely drive me away eventually - or at the very least I will cancel my sub and take a few months' break and see if they get resolved.

I am going to be extremely hesitant to even bother with it.

TESVI if, and when it actually comes out, we can be sure will be riddled with "game advancing" microtransactions given the track record of Bethesda and the gaming industry in general over the last few years. A single player game as a service type of thing I'll bet my cancelled ESO+ sub on it. I've also heard they are still going to re-use the same old bug-ridden and not so good-looking anymore creation engine that's been around since the beginning of time but has 16x the detail according to them.

As far as ESO having any bump to it's demise, I'd say in it's current state it's doing that just fine on it's own.

Literally only a handful of people are saying TESO is going to die. Then they point to the forums as evidence (as tho it’s not the same hundred people posting). Now, there are definitely issues people are experiencing (see EU server), ZoS has some major coding issues as well, but most people with decent hardware aren’t experiencing to the degree that others are. I warrant some people are running on potatoes. Aren’t hardwired in. Using crap routers. Have too many people on their network, ect. I’m not saying that’s all cases, only that very few people check to see if it’s on their end. I think ESO should definitely run on lower spec computers , first gen consoles, without the issues they are experiencing — but the forum is not a good place to get data points as it’s a small sample size.

I think when TES6 comes out there will be a couple months where the population in ESO will dip somewhat while people play the new game. Then they'll come back to ESO. I know that's what I'm planning on doing.

Zenimax and corporatism will be the end of ESO.

Everyone I know has stopped playing, even those who never stopped during the last 5 years previous. The worst thing? Basically everyone agrees that ESO in many ways massively outshines all over MMOs, but it is simply plagued by a million and one issues that ZOS categorically refuse to fix.

I'm kind of surprised people have that much trouble with Bethsoft games. Skyrim, Fallout 3, and Fallout 4 all worked for me on day 1. And yeah, I've modded them extensively, but it's almost 90% aesthetic stuff, I never mod my first run, and I've also never used any of the "Unofficial Patch" mods.

(I can't say the same about Morrowind & Oblivion - I only got those awhile after they'd come out. A friend loaned me MW after Oblivion's release, and I grabbed Oblivion after I'd finished with MW.)

Elder Scrolls 6 will likely divert the attention of a lot of players only playing ESO for the story who will vanish/become much less active for a month or six then come back once they have explored every part of Elder Scrolls 6 until the first DLC and popular mods start appearing, then they will vanish again.

Just think of how many hours some people have put into Skyrim if the new Elder Scrolls lives up to that as a good sequel, you will get a lot of people only logging into ESO for the daily log rewards/daily writs for quite some time.

What will be the death of ESO is performance issues.

For some of us, ESO is the TES 6 waiting room.
You're right though, TES 6 will not kill ESO because ESO does not appeal to the TES community. In fact, most of the TES audience memes on ESO and dismisses it as a spinoff.

I actually haven't had any issues with any TES game, beginning with Arena at release. [Caveat: I appear to be the only person in the game-playing world who did not need a patch to finish Undermountain (nope, not a Beth game - one of the FR games after the Gold Box series).... I just don't have bugs in games, and I don't have any clue why either - so that might just be a "me only" sort of thing.]

I've played each TES game from the day it released, and enjoyed each one to the hilt. And then, the mods came along, and that was great too, just making things better in many and varied directions - without the modders, I wouldn't probably have enjoyed every one of the games until the next one came out!

I did use the unofficial patches though for Skyrim, as many of the mods I wanted to use began to require them.

I own Ngage Shadowkey, it’s the only TES game I can’t complete because of a bug. All the other TES games I haven’t had any sort of issue with.

Well that’s not true. I did have an experience Oblivion that was frustrating due to an add on.

Eh.... I'm willing to mess with the MMO thing. But it's not something I really want to do for years any more. I did WoW for years. And then RIFT. Eventually, I looked at the "fun" I was supposed to be having. And then - I quit playing those games....

ESO is at least set in a world I've loved since 1994. But y'know what? I REALLY don't want to mess with other "real people" in a game. So yeah, this one is me playing solo for the most part - and hoping that TES6 isn't just some fake (which I kind of already think is a given *sigh*)

I don't like people. And I really don't want to have to deal with them in a game I play to GET AWAY from people in RL.

I'm.... a misanthrope. Works for me.
