    Oh, I'm definitely going back to wow but in wod, there is no point going back there right now. I had hoped ESO will keep me busy until wod but it seems to me that it's not going to happen. Guess I'll move to Wildstar in June.

    O.O You are seriously comparing this community to WoW's community? WoW's community was a major reason I left WoW. I mean you are serious?

    This community is far better than WoW's in game. You have your not so great people but that is in any internet social game ..ANY. But I've run into a lot of really nice people in this game.

    I myself have experienced many bugs. My inventory was wiped 4 times. As far as it stands, I am unsubscribed at the moment, and so are many people in my guild. I am not recommending this game to anyone at this point. I am not gonna ragequit, I am willing to give ZMO a chance to fix things until the free 30 days end. If they get their *** together until then, I'll stay. If not, I am off.

    Also, can people stop bringing WoW into this? I always laugh when people bring it, because most of you don't understand that in order for MMO to be as sucessfull as WoW, devs must look at HOW Blizzard did it, and not WHAT Blizzard did. WoW became sucessfull because it was innovative at its launch. Blizzard brought something new to MMO, they didn't simply rely on copying ideas. Thats what you need to do in order to make a new WoW-killer, you need to make a game that is as innovative at launch as WoW was at theirs. For what its worht, ESO is not a direct WoW clone, it has some new elements to it. Not enough IMO, but at least they tried. TOR tried to be better at being WoW than WoW itself, and thats why it has failed, because rip-off will never be as good as original. And thats why Wildstar (which is the best WoW ripoff to date, and they even tried to make combat feel a bit more active) will fail, because you cant make a sucessfull MMO with your main marketing agenda being "we will make this game feel like vanilla WoW".

    1. You don't know that

    2. Wildstar isn't a WoW ripoff at all I've played it already(beta), coming from a person who pretty much played WoW at launch. Also I think I like Wildstar better than ESO, and the bugs and community within ESO is certainly helping to push me in that direction. WoW Warlords of Draenor is going to be awesome as well.

    WoW brought marketing, other than that it was pretty much a copy of DAoC only with only two realms so it didn't have balance. It also brought an established IP and playerbase, whilst having tiny system requirements so almost any computer could play it.

    Targetting non MMO players with marketing was it's major success. People compare other games to WoW because it was their first, or because it is the biggest, not because there is anything in it's gameplay that was original.

    I think ZOS probably need to make a statement and they need to make it soon. They need to let people know they take these bank issues seriously and that they are fixing it. They need to clairify a lot of the contradictory infomation flying about regarding how and when and if people's lost items and gold will be returned.

    There is nothing that ticks off people more in a situation like this than corporate silence. If people don't feel they are listened to then they turn their backs and walk away.

    I want this game to do well but these technical issues have now gone way beyond early day hiccups and we need clear communication and information about what the underlying technical issues may be and what is their approach to addressing them.

    Oh, man. This isn't even remotely the most toxic community I've participated in. You should see the toxicity in The Secret World's community these days.

    I actually got screamed at in there when I advised a newbie in the starting zone to take a few survival boosting abilities while soloing. Because I was "sabotaging their ability to run Slaughterhouse." (The last piece of group content in the game before the ten man raids.)

    That's a game that actively seeks to exclude new players because then it's one more player to compete against for rolls at QL10.whatever.

    I game yes, on this forum.....no, no,no.

    I've been to worse forums on MMOs including WoW's. Example: Lawl! L2P Nubz!

    Usually the result of someone disagreeing with a poster. In any forum there is a community that will have all aspects of any real life community, but to a worse degree because you or them aren't face to face.

    I don't always agree with people, but I do try hard not to call names or offend. Try..hard to do with typing words without a facial expressions. But this community (and yes even those that don't agree with me) are a lot tamer than WoW's forums and a lot nicer.

    Remember things are heated because of the many outstanding issues with the game itself and very little communication of this company's customer support. I do this all the time. I understand we are basically on our own the majority of the time here and facing all the issues of the game between us the players..I've seen very few greens responding so it leaves many of us even more heated and ready to pounce at anything or anyone that disagrees with us. It's like you had a hard day at work, come home and your partner (wife/fiancé/husband/mate and etc) says hello the dishwasher broke. You jump before you think and shout at that person because you boss jumped you, you were overlooked for a promotion, your paycheck was shorted money the company owed you, but you had no way to fix it right then.

    This community is very calm to some of the other forum communities I belong too. Friendly to a point.

    Because it had two realms it doesn't have balance???

    It's successful because its one of the best made games ever developed, and Blizzard improves upon it with each iteration.

    WoW brought something to MMO's that has not been seen since... polish. It didn't innovate, or invent. It took what was working in other games and made it better. What's funny is that after that, many company's tried to literally clone WoW's systems (the same ones they had borrowed elsewhere) but forgot to clone the one thing that made WoW the fiscal king of the castle... polish.

    WoW simply refined all the existing MMO features of the time to a perfect state, and phased out most of what were considered flaws (like corpse recovery and exp loss or more broadly, pointless loss of time). When the game was released, there wasn't an andless list of gamebreaking bugs needing a hotpatch every hours (like Vanguard).
    The highlights of the game in 2005 were:
    - talent trees to personalize your character (making the game have 27 classes instead of just 9) (diablo 2 feature);
    - the quest system replacing mob-grinding (Warcraft 3 feature adapted in a MMO);
    - immersive and extensive lore, unique graphic touch when all the other MMOs were about looking "realistic", that really drew you into the game;
    - and open-ended feeling because of the variety of places you could go to level;

    A big plus at release also was that the population was mostly MMO veterans and not an angry mob of clueless teenagers spamming public chat and being obnoxious and rude to people not from their little circle of a guild.

    Polish is something this game needs.

    I love this game as well and think it will do really well.

    WoW in its current incarnation no longer counts as an persistent world mmorpg for me. It could as well be a battle net lobby with instanced dungeon/raid/battleground/arena, in fact it is just a lobby for the mentioned activities, just designed better. Buy a level 90 and play out of Stormwind. If you prefer solo just use group/raidfinder, we promise it will feel like solo.

    Also they dumbed everything else down to the lowest common denominator, so your kid or dog can also have success in this game.

    This board is a festering pool of frustrated players. I haven't had a single issue aside from the site refusing to believe that my zip code existed, and a few broken quests.

    It's not that it's toxic, but you have a lot of players who've had the game break in some serious way. Quest after quest broke, or their billing address still isn't fixed, or they got banned without explanation. Or... "bank."

    You have players who play a different way coming along and saying, "just do something else." It's not malicious, but it further aggravates the frustrated players.

    You have support closing tickets with a "solved" after they sent back a workaround for a different problem. Which, again, isn't malicious, and probably isn't even incompetence, it's just endemic of an overworked CS staff that's been getting slammed for close to three weeks. Which further aggravates the frustrated players.

    Oh, and we also have Zenimax doing a poor job of keeping the population up to date on what's happening. I don't think that's the admins themselves, so much as an issue with how the forums are put together, but it is an issue.

    And, then you have a few trolls and a few obstinate posters who want things "their way," and you have a recipe for a lot of really irked players...

    ...and then you turn them loose on each other.

    The game's population is fine. The CS board is about as bad as it gets.

    I agree with the thread starter, this is sad. I loooove the game, it's beautiful, I like combat system(altho I would also like >5 slots but hey...nothing is ever perfect for everyone, that's okay), I LOVE crafting, love npcs, story, humour...I'd say I hate CS, but alas I cannot say even that. CS does not exist, as far as I am concerned. You'd think a big company like that could spend a bit money and get a big fancy CS, especially since it's not free-to-play, they want us to pay every month, all the more reason to keep us happy. Instead, it is like they don't care - not only for us, but for their own profit.

    About a dozen of my quests were/are stuck at different points, even a dungeon. I fall through the world/get stuck in stairs/bridges/walls so much I honestly have to pay more gold for repairs from /stuck dying than killed-by-monster dying. Fortunately at least my inv seems to have remained intact. Also, it took them FIVE days to "authorize" my card. My 14$ were somwhere far and away for FIVE *** days after I'd been told they would NOT take them before the free month expires. There was an almost 100 pages thread somwhere on forums about this one and afair, not a single official response in it.

    I don't think I can abandon this game, but this is SO sad. I couldn't play yesterday because maintenance, I couldn't play half of today because after maintenance, eventually had to edit my hosts file just to be able to get launcher to work. WHy should I have to do this? Why should we have to come up with solutions like that...any solutions, really? I am new to MMO but I can forgive some bugs and problems - it must be very difficult to launch such a big project with so many little things to go wrong, but there's a line after which "poor guys, must be so hard to figure it out" turns into "I don't want to give my money to these...bad people", and absolute lack of CS is making that line that much closer.

    /done ranting for now

    One of the biggest problems I find is the lack of communication with the community. They need to have a comprehensive list of bugs that have been reported, so players at least know that they are working on something. As of now their pitiful list of "known issues" doesn't even touch the tip of the iceberg for bugs.
    They either need more CMs or hire a new one that can actually keep up with the forums.

    This is where I am as well, except I play many MMOs, and there is new EQ coming, along with Wildstar and a few others in 2014. So hopefully this is my main MMO for years, but they gotta fix the bugs and gold spammers, then work out the kinks. This is the norm for every MMO at launch though.(maybe except rift and runescape)

    Optimism is trust that things will get better no matter how bad they seem, looking for the best aspects of any situation, and the belief that good will inevitably triumph over evil.

    Amazing job? Are playing the same game? Honestly I haven't seen anything that gives me hope that they are doing anything. Only stuff that makes me glad I canceled my sub. Still haven't fixed the bank bug and they have no idea what to do about those effected by it. Makes me want to keep my sub.

    still a lot of broken quests.

    this is sad. i really wanted to enjoy this, and I do, but i could be enjoying it more, and these broken quests in grahtwood are killing me...the patch yesterday fixed one, but there are others that are still broken.

    spam seemed to be less, so the patch did some good things, but man, the basic stuff that's not working still is bad.

    Well for me, zenimax is doing great, i never encountered any problem with the game except for one time with molag bal getting stuck & pvp loading screen issue & there's some issues with some of my guildies having problems with their story quest, but so far no inventory wipes, launcher errors or bank wipes, i usually wait one hour after maintenance before logging in rather than trying to force your way in after a maintenance while the server is starting up, me and my guildies are definitely subscribing for another 6 months cause the pvp is great. This launch is way better than any mmorpg i've ever played and i've been playing since ultima online.

    Well other than Rift, EQ2, and RS1. I gotta agree here. I have been playing MMOs since Jan 2001(RS1). This is one of the better mmo launches for sure.

    The Devs, ZOS and Support have done a tremendous job and I love the game so far, except for the inexcusable issues I have mentioned before like the Bank/Inventroy/Skill Points/Gold Bug, and Gold Spammers and Bots.

    This is true, I am slowly growing tired of the random crashes (Don't play this game on mac haha) and glitched quests. Nothing major has happened such as cleared bank, ect.

    but tons of little stuff that have slowly been adding up over the last few weeks. Honestly I would probably keep subscribing and playing the game anyways as I am such a huge ES addict. But I'm getting the feeling that I'll be the only one, and nobody wants to play alone :(

    Here's a couple of systems that lead to this...

    The game is ludicrously gear dependent. The game touts itself as lacking levels, but that's a flat out lie. Your effective level is dependent 100% on your gear. (Hence the QL# thing).

    When you get to endgame it's a grind of 8 dungeons (one for each zone in the game). These aren't actually new dungeons, they're the same ones you (may have) played through when you were leveling up, and in most cases there are three different versions. Normal, Elite, and Nightmare.

    Normal gameplay will drop greens and not much else. The final three zones will drop QL10 greens. If you don't do dungeons, this is basically where your advancement stops.

    Dungeons drop blues. Upgrading from greens to blues only makes sense if you're pulling QL10 from insane luck or elites. (Seriously, in an entire year of regular play, I saw a total of about 15, maybe 20 blues drop outside of dungeons.) Each boss in an elite will drop one or two blues, most of these will be Bind on Pickup. You roll against every other player in a need/greed for EVERY drop in the dungeon.

    For players who've already advanced to nightmares there's no reason to run elites again, but the systemic requirement to complete nightmares is, at least, two or three purple 10s.

    This means, you grind until the dice gods favor you, and you pray some ass doesn't need roll on the stuff you legitimately need to advance, because they want it for whatever reason. And in nightmare, if anyone is under geared, or not on the ball, the entire run will fail.

    If you're not lucky, you won't have any advancement off of running a dungeon. This actually happened to me on nightmare. One of our team decided to screw around, and made the boss impossible to beat, and he was also needing stuff, meaning I got 0 progression from that run.

    The community there makes EVE look like a church social.
