I've already burned too much money on this game, they should gift me free stuff for the money they wasted.

I would not spend more money on the game than I already do, no. A functional game is a baseline requirement; I won't reward them for providing the bare minimum. But I am an ESO+ subscriber already, so I would certainly continue that subscription if the game is fixed, yes. Conversely, I might let my subscription lapse if they don't get their act together.

I don't believe they will invest money in any serious upgrade. It's clear now that Zenimax invest minimal resources at this game. Overall a lot of nice words, almost no real fixes to real problems, this is ZOS behaviour these days

Ohh I think I've made a comment likes this yesterday. It's too ambitious a game? 1 mega server and you expect to be able to handle everything?

I am wholly confident we are running on servers manufactured before most players were born.

No, the game is essentially a tangled mess of spaghetti code that has been repeatedly built upon over the years. Which is why sometimes old bugs resurface when a patch goes through. Making things worse is the fact that the majority of said code was done by a third party during development (at least this is what's known by people who've been around since early betas) which means there are very few people left at the studio who fully know their way around the entire mess.

I am more likely to spend money in a game if it seems to be moving in a positive direction, including providing reliable service. (Occasional problems are inevitable, but seeing ongoing issues like this is troubling.)

I would also need more to spend money on. I already have ESO+ and I have absolutely no interest in buying Crown crates. I occasionally buy other things but now have the available costumes, etc. that I like. And even while I enjoy the game, the purchase itself has to be worth the price. For instance, I would love to buy additional outfit slots for my characters but not at that price!

Sooo, my answer would be that I’m currently supporting the game and would spend more if the above two conditions were met. :)

That's easy, they chose to continue adding content in pursuit of more casual moneybags.

No more than I already do. I.e. subbing a month here and there to do the story content of new DLCs.The ship for ESO has sailed long since, and I have zero confidence in the gameplay aspects of this thing. The only reason it hasn't collapsed to its own ineptitude is the strength of the IP.

Elder Scrolls is still strong enough to make money, even with all the hard work done by Bugthesda to burn their fans goodwill with Failout 76 shenanigans. And despite the blatant and unapologetic fleecing that was the "pure Elder Scroll experience" of Blades.

Assuming ESO is still a thing when TES 6 finally gets released, and it's the same sort of turd *** as 76, then I think ESO will die along with Bughtesda itself. Zenimax will survive and no doubt try to spin a new live service BS from some other IP not yet seen as toxic by the community Although, seriously speaking, I can't believe ESO will stay afloat that long, not with all the crap constantly leaking from its seams.

But in the meanwhile though, am vested in a TES lore to some degree, and will continue slogging through the story content as it gets released, as long as ZO$ bothers making it. But spending anything beyond that? It will take a miracle at this point. Or some really really really specific and personally interesting housing item I just have to have due to my personal weaknesses and preferences. But hey, nobody's perfect, right?

Instead they push more layers of content every three months exacerbating the code problem ..

At least I would rethink my current boycott ever since they did Bosmer lore dirty and removed stealth from their racials.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

Yep, exactly, it's a coding issue. This game is not new, and to be entirely honest it's run better in the past as far as queues and such than it does now, despite numerous "improvements" which seem to largely be "improved" from a back end perspective rather than an end-user perspective (that's the only possible perspective I can see things being argued as being better now).

Simply put while I think ESO is past it's heyday, I think it's still making decent amounts of money, which is why it's expanded regularly. Upper management should take an axe to whichever department is responsible for this latest debacle as it's a repeat from a year ago, if they can't fix the problem in a year, they need to hire people who can do so.... and what's more I think this shouldn't be being handled quietly and "professionally" this time given the eyes on it from the user base, we as users deserve some answers and some signs that things are being done especially if they want us to continue spending money.... we should get a list of who is being fired, in a very public fashion, along with a notification of who is going to be replacing them.

Yeah, I'm a bit angry about the entire situation as you might guess.

No. For me it's more than servers. It's the whole package, including how customer service is handled, how storytelling is poorly done, how much content there is left for me to do, and other factors. When story is done I wait. When it's not worth doing, I'm gone.

Upgrading servers or not, would have no effect on my spending in this game. I've only spent rarely & infrequently, and that pattern will continue as long as I play.

(I bought 3k crowns during a sale in 2017, to go along with some I got from a couple months ESO+ in 2016. And I bought Summerset+free Morrowind when Summerset came out. I still have crowns to spend.)

Yes, because I do enjoy the game.
I always pay for the games I play. People who don’t pay for games make me sick. It’s like those people who don’t want to pay 99 cents for an app as if they could make it themselves. Or like those discouraging “parents” that scoff and belittle all the work that goes into video games. Interactive storytelling is a legitimate art form and just like you pay to see a comedian perform live, you need to pay to be entertained live.

That said, I haven’t decided if I’ll renew my membership, it’s been cancelled and Zos’s performance (not just the game performance but their “direction”) isn’t making me feel thirsty enough to re-up.

I've had this theory discussion with various friends, and I have a theory that the NA and EU servers are one and the same. When you experience peak population/new DLC performance while adventuring in empty, unpopulated, off-time areas and zones, I come to believe this even more. What if we're all running around on the same Master server - just in different "server" instances. And legality issues the prevents the disclosure of such earth-shattering unfoldings.
Imagine if that was the cause for the majority excessive performance issues.

I could just be talking out of my rear end, but I really start to question it, often. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. Or am I?
