How are you making gold?

No big secret here. Daily crafting writs on 18 characters is generating about 60K gold per day if I am motivated to do it.
Max would be 84K/day when I get all characters to class level 50.

One day I will also have 18 characters :)

Selling skin runs every now and then.

Can you explain this, please? Do I need to equip an item to add it to my skins etc?

Endgame. People who clear Veteran trials can sell the skins to X amount of people a run for Cost / NumberOfActualRaiders.

Say 2 people want it and there's 10 raid spots, that means 8 will be raiders. If they charge 5M per skin that's 10M total, 10M / 8 = 1.25M each raider. But it's inconsistent and the prices are usually much lower so the money is meh.

You do writs every day on 36 characters? If it took you 5 minutes a character that would be 3 hours a day. But that isnt even an optimistic time.

Takes me only 2 minutes to do writs on each character. Here is a full account of 15 characters doing 105 writs in 30 minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOFh1-Y6o-A

I make almost a quarter of a million gold in a half hour from just the gold, legendary mats and master writs values in the video.

I do crafting writs on 10 characters usually takes me 40 minutes then 30 minutes to do survey and that's my daily routine when I log in. After that I go to the bank to sell recipes that my main crafter already know.
Then the real fun begins. I usually do the dragons daily until I get a motif to sell along with furniture plans which I don't need since I don't decorate my houses. After that it's off to adventure, be it quests, dailies, arena, etc. A's a rule, my main crafter will learn all new recipes and motifs I found and I don't sell raw material, alchemical reagents, anything else with a price listed in Master Merchant I will sell.

I just sell crowns. It takes around 8h a day, 5 days a week to supply :p The actual crown sale takes like 5 minutes and I do it whenever I'm in need of gold and I see an offer in chat (Usually there are several months between each time I do it).

90% of my time logged in is spent in trials, so I don't make any gold, and it costs a lot, trial sellable items are just enough to cover the potion/repair costs.

Mostly by selling golden jewelry gained from end of campaign rewards or purchased from The Golden vendor. I'm really lazy about keeping my traders full though.

That can be a very good way of making gold. Ex. during the last Mayhem I bought and stored for 8-9 months a whole set of Alteration Mastery gold jewelry and sold them for 500K a piece, 1.5M in total. About the same time I sold 2 Mother's Sorrow rings gotten 5-6 months before at 275K a piece. AP piles up really fast just doing BGs or Cyrodiil, in my case 50-60K an hour without really farming for it.

Congrats for your patience and endurance. I only do half of that and some days it feels awfully boring and tiring. After 9 hours work and 2 hours commute, plus the daily house chores those hit like a brick. Thankfully I watch YT documentaries while doing them and only watch the game monitor with the corner of my eye. But still, it takes about an hour if I include loading screens and inventory management: selling, banking, posting intricate jewelry and purple recipes on guild store. On some days I'm hard pressed to find time to actually play the game - pledges, trials, BGs/Cyrodiil, catching up on skill points on my newest characters.

There are many ways to make gold in the game. We all have our ways, whether it is by farming resources, selling items in guild stores or crafting/selling the crafted items.

What do you prefer and how much time you spend doing it?

I do a bit of everything. Dailly quests, random dungeons, pledges, public delv farms - half an hour in one can give several thousand gold. Also doing all this results in a lot of loot, which is then sold for a tidy profit.

Of an eve if I do a bit of the above you can drastically increase the gold you have. I rarely if ever actually undertake a specific activity to try and make gold, other than I suppose putting stuff into my guild stores to be sold.

Your missed a very common and most profitable way - doing writs on hoard of characters, sell the abundance of materials and items for writ vouchers.

You really do need a hoard for it to be meaningful though. I barely had the time to have a second character max out their crafting, so all I could earn is about 9k gold a day from writs. I could make more from doing a couple pickpocket runs through Anvil Castle.

It's actually super easy to power level the crafting on alts by just tossing them all the random junk you pick up ordinarily, rather than selling it to a merchant for 56 gold.

You don't have to powerlevel the crafting - the gold you get from the writs is based on character level. My lv50/160 alts doing writs with rank 1 materials still get the same 4.2k gold each. Of course, half the items rewarded are rank 1, so that's a bit lower.

But it's worth doing it since low tier writs drop gold materials very rarely. Ex. last year, when they introduced jewelry crafting it took me a while to level it on all characters, since I only used dropped trash jewelry and the intricate from the writs themselves to do it. During that time I only got 2-3 gold grains on tier 1 characters, probably well under 1% drop chance, while fully leveled ones had 20% chance - now it's buffed to about 30-35%, in line with the other ones, or even higher than that, since double grain drops are not uncommon, and I've even gotten a whole plating a few times.

Jewelry crafting and enchanting are the hardest to level w/o using crafted or bought items, the take around 2 weeks for me. Woodworking, blacksmith, clothier take 3-5 days deconstructing intricate items dropped on other characters and what trash drops in dungeons, trials, overland. Alchemy and provisioning are the fastest, they used to take 20 minutes, but with the multi-craft option they now take as little as 10 minutes each per character. In the case of low level alchemy the cost of materials is actually higher since they ask for some really expensive plants like Corn Flower, while top tier ones ask for some relatively cheap mushrooms or mudcrab chitin. And of course alchemy is worth leveling anyway for the essential Medicinal Use passive .

Overall I've seen that the MM value of materials received from writs and hirelings minus what writs consume is about twice the money and intricate item sale value - about 10K. I have an addon that measures the value of all your craft bag materials and I compared the before and after values each day for a few weeks.

I transmute lead into gold with a magic stone and an enchanted penguin

That was actually one of my favorite ways to do it in Skyrim. I transmuted iron to gold, made jewelry, then sold to NPC. Of course, in an online game it would be broken beyond belief :D

I read and laugh. Yes, many people make money using BOT programs. It's all gold. And nothing prevents you from doing it. The game does not have any control over this.Zos doesn't care. Welcome to the cheating. The last on my memory this was permanent ban players which used cheats for passage trial and sold this. And then ZOS did it only after a loud noise in YouTube. Do what you want in this game. There is no control!
