Selling looted items found in the world, chests and dungeons.
I mostly sell Cp160 set pieces for about 10x their ingame value regardless of if they're worth more. and occasionally sell some valuable odd n ends. It's not gold mine by any means but it's steady income and makes me more than i need and i can sit on a comfy few million this way. =)

Plenty of ways to make gold in the game.

Crafting writs on 6 toons is paying for their bag upgrades plus alchemy mats for my main- that’s the just the gold. I don’t even sell the mats or writs.

I farm events pretty hard and hoard anything I think will sell well months after. I am just now starting to sell the motifs I got during the anniversary event . Very good payoff there.

When I have enough writs, I’ll make enough vouchers to sell a transmute station.

Of late, I’ve been doing IC dailies to get the siege master uniform. 50 derpy 5 minute quests gave me 1.5 million lol.

I’ll also spend some time farming anything/ anywhere new to sell to the “must have now” players.

Even with the huge expense of completing my Earthtear, I’m never less than 10mil in the bank.

My primary method is doing the daily crafting writs.

I also fence items I've stolen, but I don't usually go on dedicated thieving runs unless I really need to earn some money fast, such as back when I was trying to accumulate enough money to buy my next bank account upgrade, inventory pack upgrade, or player housing. Now that I've taken a break from buying player housing and have amassed over 1.5 million gold on the NA server, I've mostly slacked off on thieving. I've amassed over 2 million gold on the EU server, but that's mostly because I don't buy player housing on that server, just use the free player housing for free fast travel. I'd have over 2 million on the NA server as well if it weren't for buying outrageously expensive crafting motifs or rare crafting materials for doing some of the master crafting writs. I know 2 million gold is small change to a lot of players, but not to me.

As for items that I get through questing, I deconstruct nearly everything I don't need for researching traits. Occasionally I'll keep something that's from a set I'm interested in, but that's pretty rare. For a while I dabbled in selling gear through the guild stores and guild traders, but I hate having to figure out what's considered to be a reasonable selling price, and I wasn't making enough money at it to justify the hassle.

And as for farming, I don't farm so I can sell materials and make money; I farm when I'm low on certain materials and can't do all if my daily crafting writs. I've got stacks and stacks of refined materials on my mule characters, but it's a hassle to shuffle stuff between characters; I spend far more time trying to manage inventory than I do questing. I tried selling stacks of excess refined materials, but it seemed like only certain types of materials were getting bought-- usually for making light armor, and to a lesser extent for medium armor-- so I eventually got tired of the hassle. I'd almost rather just sell my excess stacks to the NPC merchants, but I try to hang onto them in case I get a request to craft someone some gear.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

No big secret here. Daily crafting writs on 18 characters is generating about 60K gold per day if I am motivated to do it.
Max would be 84K/day when I get all characters to class level 50.

I do not sell found/farmed materials and use everything I farm/loot myself.
    I have enough gold stored.
I don't have a lot of wants like furnishings so it's easy to save.
Daily writs is a slow but steady source of income and mats and surveys to be a self-sufficient house of alts.

Main account doing Daily crafting writs 18 characters doing all crafts = around 80K a day.

Second free to play account 18 characters only doing Jewelry and Clothing daily writs bit under 24K a day but I am only after the gold/purple mats and surveys and the hireling mails for free extra mats, that I mail back to my main account to sell. (only started doing this recently so my profits listed below might end up being higher than my current estimates)

I could do all 7 crafts on the second account as well and tried it for awhile but it proved too much work each day and scaled it back to what I considered the most profitable daily crafting writs.

    After that sell off:

Excess Grand Repair kits, a bit over 10K each (edited per stack not per kit)

Master writs (Alchemy and Enchanting ones you can get to drop as often as gold mats the easy 2 writ ones I sell 4K a piece)

Gold mats that I don't want to hoard/Purple mats when I have more than I need.

Jewelry intricates, use to sell normal intricates but now I just give them away or vendor them along with the ornate stuff, which easily covers all the style stones I have to use each day.

Usually end up with around 1 million in guild store sales a week on average just from the stuff above when I feel like selling and around 728K from daily writ turn ins.

I don't do any buying low or selling high, can't be stuffed going from trader to trader to be met with TTC mirages.

Filling empty soul gems as I play and selling the excess stacks to a vendor for 6K a piece.

Doing equipment surveys and selling the raw mats once a month, for example in the process of selling off 200 stacks of Platinum dust for 15K a stack.

Most I have had in my inventory/bank was around 15 Million but that was before I created the second account currently rebuilding my in game gold hoard, at the start of the week had about 1.5 Million left over(Would be more but I won some bids in guild auctions and started wasting gold on furniture recently)

After sales so far this week sitting a bit over 3.2 Million expect to be at around 6 million by the end of the week, assuming my raw mats sell as fast as I would like and I do my remaining surveys quick enough to keep up supply but that 6 million is only an estimate probably be lower than the actual amount will be. But I only get these kind a profits 12 times a year.

There is nothing quick about setting up daily writ crafting on a lot of alts for anyone imaging a get rich quick scheme, you will need the better part of a year to waste setting it up on this kind of scale, since I do seasonal work in real life I have such time to waste.

Though the bare min you need to do to make daily writs profitable is:

Have 1 character at at least CP160 (CP225 is better since you can use the master gatherer perk which halves the time to harvest nodes)

Make sure that character is able to do max level daily crafting writs, so they can harvest surveys, also make sure they have unlocked all the relevant way shrines, in survey zones.

After that create as many alts as you have character slots, make them properly in case you want to use that class/character later on, level them to level 6 get them certified and doing the low level Equipment writs only, build up surveys doing low level writs and harvest the surveys on your max level character either to sell raw or try your luck at refining and sell the upgrade mats.

You will need to have a bit of capital to buy a large quantity of low level mats to fuel the daily writs.

Your missed a very common and most profitable way - doing writs on hoard of characters, sell the abundance of materials and items for writ vouchers.

You really do need a hoard for it to be meaningful though. I barely had the time to have a second character max out their crafting, so all I could earn is about 9k gold a day from writs. I could make more from doing a couple pickpocket runs through Anvil Castle.

It's actually super easy to power level the crafting on alts by just tossing them all the random junk you pick up ordinarily, rather than selling it to a merchant for 56 gold. Let them decon all that useless gear you never intended to use anyway!

With batch crafting being a thing now, three of the lines are now leveled in literal seconds.

The only line not feasible to power level is jewelry which meh, you still get the full gold from doing the lowest level writs anyway!

There is a time to set up - but time to profit, writs are going to net you more than a pickpocket run, and save you more time overall! The time you spend doing a circuit of Anvil runs is all you need to powerlevel crafting on an alt. Do that a fews days and you're laughing.

    Am I missing something?

664*7*36*31 does not equal 20M. Not even if you count a generous supply of goodies like ornates and master writs.

You don't have to powerlevel the crafting - the gold you get from the writs is based on character level. My lv50/160 alts doing writs with rank 1 materials still get the same 4.2k gold each. Of course, half the items rewarded are rank 1, so that's a bit lower.
