How does everyone feel about the new Boar Pet?

If not earnable in game it is P2W. And worse than p2notplay and p2notwait P2W which are already in game.

If earning it requires newest chapter it would be only scummy and if also access to newest dlc, scummy nickel-and-dime.
Too bad that's what one normally expects from an AAA publisher these daya.

I like it. I get 5 extra bag slots (maxed characters go to 205) on all my characters and I don't have to even have the pig as my pet. Next, please sell me some over the max available banking slots!

I'm not outraged, but it's a slippery slope kind of thing.

Also if you don't have any crowns it's a $15 purchase to get it, just crazy to think that's what 5 extra bag space costs.

Just a note here.

The boar gives you +5 slots on all your characters as soon as you purchase it. No need to have it actively following you.

I view the boar as two separate things, combined.
An exclusive non-combat pet AND an account wide permanenrt character inventory upgrade.

1200 crowns seems ok to me.

I am however not getting the pack boar, i dont like how it looks.

I would be more interested in a pack pony or pack guar.

EDIT: I was wondering though, if more pack non-combat pets are released does the permanent inventory upgrade stack ?!

While I agree with you on most of this. Being able to spend money to exceed hard caps is still very dicey. So, while screaming, "the boar is P2W," is probably a little hyperbolic, it is more than a little worrying. Not because the specific interval, or even the system itself, is exceptionally advantageous, but because this is crossing into territory they'd shied away from until now.

This takes a previously established cap (200 inventory slots), and increases past that, but only if you cough up 1200 crowns.

dont mind this one much. but hope they dont act like fo76 that when 6 or more people buy it that they claim people want stuff like that and add more and heavyer pay to win stuff

Smh. Then why can't it be earned in-game OR via Crown Store? See, that is the problem, many here cannot sense the bigger picture going on here and continue to support manipulative corporate crap practices like this. Look at all the cool stuff in ESO---it's ALL paywalled. Mounts, while costmetic---95% of them are ONLY attainable from the Crown Store --- just like about everything that defines "fun to get" in an MMO is paywalled. This piggy pet does set a very bad precedent for ESO and what is to come, I saw this kind of stuff coming when they started introducing sky shards and skill lines and here we are. I am just wondering what is next. One can only imagine the meetings discussing "how to keep players from thinking we are not heading in a P2W direction". Why can't we just goto a monthly sub model at this point and remove this manic monetization system that keeps going deeper and deeper into the game? Pretty much anyone who plays the game for a length of time goes for ESO+ anyway so make the sub a little cheaper than competitors and free to play up to level 30, etc. Simple. Then maybe the company could focus on the actual game instead of the microtransaction hell it's becoming very quickly. Seems like ESO isn't going to be far off from becoming another Fallout76 to be very honest.

I bet the same that think this stuff is okay would be the same ones saying buying a weapon buff that isn't earnable in-game, etc isn't P2W. We as a community need to open eyes a bit further otherwise the ESO we know and enjoy will turn into the one where game progression is "optionally" paywalled, one thing at a time. Wait and see.

A lot of people seem to believe this is not a slippery slope to P2W. Could it be they want a P2W system or this is the first game they ever played.

It starts with something minor like extra space, then it will be just a little extra run speed on a crown only mount. Perhaps a small buff to food/drink then a buff to potions/poisons.

Functionally, I'm happy to see the idea that pets can be more than fashion accessories, but I think all pets should be given a certain amount of functionality, not just one crown exclusive pet. It doesn't offend me as much as I just think it's a missed opportunity to deepen the game.

I guess those who buy the pet via crowns won’t be able to get it as a Mount, that will be released in the next dlc.

So just wait until then, finish the new zone quest line and boom, you get a boar mount that increases your inventory.

@ThirdHorseman ; Can you please explain what you mean by this? I'm confused. Are you stating that if you buy the boar then the boar mount wont stack with the 5 slots ..meaning you only get 5 slots via pet or mount but not both at the same time?

Needs to be a bigger pig. Like the size of a real pig. Like up to the rib cage on an average size man. Like as big as the early guar pets.

@wishlist14, it's a hypothetical, there is no confirmed boar mount in the works.

The inventory slots are permanently active, like your horse slots. You don't need to have the pet out to benefit from them.
