Free Game Time!!

Due to all of the bugs and glitches the community is experiencing and some of the game breaking bugs this one THINKS ESO should hold off on Pay-to-play/subscription. After today's patch and the chaos it has caused it is evident that ESO was not ready to be launched to the public. I am not sure how patches are applied but one would think that they would have a test realm to see if it will be applied smoothly. This is just something I have been thinking about... what would be the consumer's view on this?? Is a game with many many bugs, glitches and horrible patch application really worth paying for?

Too late, they already took my money for the subscription. :(

I've already cancelled my sub. I'm giving it the rest of the time left on my free month to change my mind, and me not being able to play isn't doing a lot for that.

Don't get me wrong I LOVE this game but with all of these problems it is quite obvious that they were not ready to launch the game or perhaps they were not ready for such a high number of players? I would hate this game to go to the wayside because of these problems but I also do not think it is fair to players to have to pay to play due to the state of the game.

This would be nice. The login timeouts and error 301's are getting annoying. Not to mention the 209's some folks are experiencing.

One can only hope they might change their mind on the sub until they get the game running smoothly.

Yes I had those problems too and it took me hours to fix it even after I contacted customer service and even then they said to uninstall the game client/entire game and reinstall it which takes FOREVER! Though I did find a way around that issue and did not have to do that. A simple fix for game breaking patches would to be testing it on a test server but I guess they do not have one?

Almost 10 hours later and they dont have a fix for a simple launcher issue. And they probably already went home for the day so there wont be one for the rest of the night. This is so bizarre. How do they expect to keep any customers when they lock them out of playing for an entire day and dont even try to fix the problem?

Exactly! They will loose a large player base because of these issues.

So in other words there should be a demand for free game time due to these game breaking issues from the community. They were obviously not ready for the launch and for the release to the public.

meh 19 days of free game time remaining.
Highly unlikely in the current broken state of things I will be paying a sub to continue playing.

You deserve a free car rental while they fix the problem. Every dealership would do this. You need to work on your analogies.

Your analogy is like if someone responded to the OP by saying "so what if the dealership causes a problem that makes your car undrivable, they should throw the dealer into guantanamo bay and buy you a mansion? that is CRAZY!"

A car rental isn't like getting a free car, where as free days of gameplay is not borrowing days in a game to give them back. The analogy makes perfect sense if you understood it.

The issue is people thinking humans should make things perfect the first time around and never make an error. That is not what it is to be human, I'd love to see the people on these forums make a game of this scale.

    A car rental costs $100 a car cost $20,000

A day of gametime costs 50 cents. A month of game time costs $

He is asking for 50 cents not $20,000. I cant believe I'm even engaging with you if you think your car analogy makes sense.

Or instead try the patch on a test realm to see if it messes anything up... some glitches/bugs were never fixed from alpha/beta either.

LOL... this is funny and makes no sense.... if my car is non derivable I should get a rental not a new car... so people should get free time if they can't log in due to the horrifically applied patch that caused more problems than it actually fixed.

Free game time would do what exactly? Yes, the game is pretty and cool, but with the (total lack of) support that's been demonstrated, it's going to be free soon anyways.

Oddly enough, under warranty, many EXPECT a faulty product to have a free repair and some alternate compensation method for the inconvenience of not being able to use the product as advertised. They said the game was ready for release, it isn't for many, so some free time or other compensation should be offered. There are other games out there, and more coming. I can still cancel my subscription. After waiting for the Maintenance time all morning, then the Repair time, I played until dinner; when I tried to reenter the game, it didn't accept my credentials. I reloaded the game and waited for the patch, played, and as I was ready to sign out, but the launcher wanted AGAIN to download the patch and attending files.
This is NOT a polished product.
Some compensation is indeed in order should these folks want a satisfied player base....

For one it would not cause them to loose as much of a player base. Due to the log in issues alone they will loose players. Extending free to play by one month would help soothe the pains of this patch and the constant bugs/glitches.

I don't quite understand why people complain so much. This game has a completely standard subscription model, and people signed up for it. ESO has no obligation to restitute either game time or purchase price. If you don't like it, you bought the wrong product.

Now, I do agree that the customer support (through tickets) is abominable. The liaisons are doing their best, but the call center that was hired is a sad joke. I've worked at a game call center, and this one's bad even by my standards from what I've seen. To what extend this can be solved is debatable, since they are probably on a contract for at least half a year. I suspect they'll get some retraining, but whether this will be enough no one can tell. We'll have to hope Zenimax will hire some in-house staff as well to deal with the most egregious cases.

And we have no obligation to subscribe to the game. I assume that they want us to subscribe unless this is some scheme like the Producers where they want the game to fail. If they want us to subscribe then we want them to make it up to us.

    Just cancelled my sub, too.

The *setting* held such promise, and certain parts of the game are nice... but the limitations on growth (this is an Elderscrolls game - we should be able to tweak our spells and such nine thousand different ways to suit our preferences!) and the unbelievably stingy bank space utterly ruins the entire game.
You should not NEED five mules just to do some crafting, and crafting should feel like it's useful. Potions are too anemic to help out when they're needed - in the thick of battle. Food items are anemic. Research is poorly implemented and the modifications pitiful, and enchanting is even more of a joke.

I'm not even complaining about the bugs - they're expected (though after today all accounts should be given a 24 hour grace). It's the game *itself* that is inherently flawed down to its very foundations.

No... I think the Elderscrolls story setting cannot help a poorly designed game float. I regret the massive waste of money.

Zenifail should take a page from Guild Wars 2 on storage for crafting. And Eve-Online for personal storage space in general. They did that right, at least.
Life is like a pack of wolves -

If you don't face it head on it'll come at you from all sides and rip your throat out.

In my eyes the game was ready for release. I've had only minor issues mainly concerning the quests. Now question is how possible you think is to make game that works almost flawless for everyone on PC on launch? Looking at minimum and recommended requirements to run this game how many combinations of processor, graphics, OS you can think of fitting between there. Now test and make game work on all those combinations, possible?

Well when it seems that they almost deliberately run maintenance on the best time of people gaming really losing them the day to play then compensating that into the game time would be fair. So far 2 times this has been done and basically on 2 days I've managed to play maybe hour per day because I work 8 to 4. And when I get home I can play during time maybe 5 to 10. However for some odd reason there is maintenance going which keeps the server down from 5 to 9.

Well that's only my schedule that I can go by however I'm pretty sure the same applies to quite many other Europeans that go to work or school.

That's of course true. If you feel the game has promise but is currently not performing to your expectations, it's probably best to try your luck again in a month or two. Personally, I am getting my dollar's worth out of it in between the minor problems.

Admittedly, I've been hit by the bank bug only once and not with serious impact, and I have had no account/payment problems. Had either of those things hit me hard enough, I might well have felt like you. Can't fault you there, if that's the case.
