Of course, all of this doesn’t really matter if ZOS is unwilling or unable to provide the option.

If you rolled an alt you do not lose your crafter.

Maybe not. But if you liked the class so much you wanted to make it your new "main" you would either have to restart nearly everything or log out and into a different character every time you wanted to craft something. That would be incredibly annoying, at least for me.
For those who enjoy making "alts"... then yes, I suppose just getting a new character to 50 to try out a new class isn't that big a deal. But for someone who is actually wanting to change the class of their main character - being the one they predominately play and have all their achievements on - then yeah, that is a nightmare and there really ought to be a more effective remedy for players who would like to do this.
If they are really that concerned over crown store sells or the impact such an option would have, they could limit the amount of times players could do this or something. But there needs to be some way for a player to change the class of their main character without having to redo most of the entire game (which has taken me literally years to do).

I can answer: because it is far more convenient. The more crafting you do, the more convenient it becomes.barney2525 wrote: »graybeardII wrote: »For me its my crafter he could be any class but what he is but he has millions in motifs and recipes and trates researched so cant start over so a change token would be nice
Ummm... why?
Why would you want your master crafter to be the main character you use?
You must not have done much content, because that is not even close to being true — the number of skill points in the game is insane. Below is a screenshot of my main/crafter's skills page. I have 413 total skill points right now, and as you can see even after spending 149 on crafting & 264 on everything else the toon needs (and a lot it doesn't need) I still have 50 unspent skill points — I also still have 27 more to get from the Alliance War.The amount of skill points required to Be a master crafter would prevent the character from having more than just the basics of combat skills.

Did you ever consider that maybe other people don't think like you do? For instance, I think it's kind of silly to only have one toon capable of deconning — all of my toons can do it because I hate logging in & out all to do something so trivial. You apparently don't feel the same way. Different strokes for different folks, right? And quite frankly, I have never understood the mindset that I should have Only One main character. I have a master crafter. He was, at one point, my main character. Now he is retired and does all my crafting and deconning. I have several different characters, of different classes that I use as main characters.
Just don't understand why players go out of their way to restrict themselves.
IMHO
Mages guild, psijic, shards, lore books, horse, research, motifs, recipes, furniture plans, quests, achievements. There are many reasons why class change tokens are ideal.

- We will end up with huge class number disproportion (people will just switch to what is meta).
- Degradation of in-game achievements. People will for example switch to easiest posible class to do specific type of content. Like NB for thives guild / dark brotherhood or mag sorc for nMA / vMA etc.
- Huge risk of a more intentional by design grinding. Because "time savers".
- Class change token = another step towards "instant level 50 upgrade" - which is something you dont want.
- It will be arguably P2W. You will have instant access to new maxed class, while others will have to grind levels & skills, and by the time they will do that - there will be a patch & new meta.

They already said in a interview that it is something they are working on, but can't give any info on at this time.
Seeing that skills cost 1500 crowns each I imagine that it will be around 12000 crowns which would allow people to change, but keep people from doing it all the time.
Plus it would be nice if they made a CD for it that would only allow you to change once every six months
Almost all. Woe betide the day when you can buy quest completion in the Crown Store
