Should players who haven't played the game in over a month be allowed to post in this Forum?

Yes, they have experiences worth sharing
Yes, they should be allowed to continue participating in forum discussions. I think there are just as many negative or “non-peaceful” (referencing OP’s term) posts are made by current and recent players. I presume most who don’t currently play but lurk the forums intend to come back at some point or would like to if certain changes were made, etc. They are as likely to have valid points and experience as current players. Someone who is trolling should probably receive a temporary ban, but again, this is not dependent on game-playing status.

I wanted to write down something but was ashamed to let others see how I voted.

Yeah, maybe a anonymus vote would have been a better idea.. Ohwell, cant change it now.

I just do not see the point in quitting the game and still go on the forums to let EVERYONE know what a *** game they play.

The forum is here for feedback and peaceful discussion.
I come here mainly to let everyone know that I like turtles!

Another divisive thread, pitting one part of the community against another. Supper helpful considering the state of the game is solely in the hands of the devs, who frequently ignore valid feedback.

This makes me hungry, I haven't had super yet.

Of course they should still be allowed to post as they are still part of eso community, however I think forum accounts should be linked to an in game account so others can see your most recent login, total playtime and playtime in the past 2 weeks. This way it is obvious when someone is troll posting or if they are sincere.

That would be a good compromise, you could also flag forum accounts publicly as "inactive"

What? Nooo. It’s no one else’s business when last I have played, how much or how long I have played, how much I have spent, etc. You can already see when someone joined the forum, their posting history, etc.; that should be more than sufficient if you really want to get an idea where someone is coming from.

My Suggestion would be make the Forum Account inactive if the "Gameaccount" hasn't been online in over a month.

OP, wtf, is wrong with you man? It is 21th century, everybody can speak what they want and wherever they want if this doesn't touch politics and similar. Btw, this forum has one of the strongest protections from by-passers. I bet there will be way more "angry" people if they weren't stopped by "invitation" barrier.

    1. You can't prove they haven't played.
    2. The posting policy is up to Zos, not you.
    3. You have every right to ignore their posts and even the forums altogether.

    Really?

Maybe they have valid points or ideas and want to get them across.

You don't make the forums a better place by blanket banning people

i dont mean to ban them, i just think it would be a more peaceful place if active people are allowed to post here.

And if you want, log in and then you can post again.

Plenty of toxic players play the game daily and post here too. Blocking people from speaking their minds would have no positive affect.

No, most of the time they are just here to bash / rally players who want to give valid feedback

Nothing is wrong with me. Just wanted to ask for peoples opinions, and im getting them loud and clearly^^
And i gotta say your point with the "invitation barrier" is something i did not think of when i made that post. I guess you are correct.

Don't, my guess is he's working on Brexit referendum 6.0!

Seriously I wasn't sure if this guy was going for the 'Troll of the year' award.
Who is anyone to say that a paying customer cannot access a freedom to express an opinion on a game they invest in?

I have been an ESO+ member since release and in my past job I was often away for months with only limited access to the internet, but my membership continued to be paid.
Are you seriously saying that just because its near impossible to log into ESO because, I don't know, lets hypothetically discuss the issues one would have from the front seat of an FV4034 Challenger 2!

Sometimes folks need to engage the brain far in advance of typing.

Why are those the only reasons for someone to post (or be "allowed" to post /eyeroll) on a forum?

How about just "they might have questions to ask" about the game they may have been away from?

This discussion has zero value. Anything revolving around forum vigilantism is an exercise in pointlessness, really.

Let the mods do their job. If you don't like it, there is a perfectly good game associated with these forums that you could go play.

They paid for the game just like everyone else and get all the perks that come with ownership.

What makes their opinion less valid than anyone else's?

What about a thread talking about the game pre-One Tamriel? Should those players who started the game after that be excluded from the thread?

This is all strangely reminiscent of those OPs who launch a thread and then respond to every single comment with an abrupt dismissal of the eligibility of anyone who disagrees with them to contribute to it.

Strangely enough, I didn't get an invite to the forums until around a month after I had started playing. Maybe a coincidence. Maybe not. Idc who posts on the forums, it's a public space. That's like saying you can't post chat in-game before you're allowed. You have to create an account for both. If someone is going to take the time to do either, then the should be able to post just like the rest of us.

Community managers already do a great job keeping the forums clean enough. We have enough censorship online, we really don't need more layers on top of it.

So having spent years paying and contributing, then becoming so disillusioned and ground-down by all the ridiculous meta overhauls, knee-jerk nerfs, lag, broken mechanics, cheating, and developer apathy that you feel you have no choice but to stop playing somehow renders your opinion worthless?

You do realise that sometimes people complain for good reasons and not just for the sake of it, don't you?
