In need of advice: Worried about account being banned after renaming.

JohnnyTits
JohnnyTits
Soul Shriven
My account was flagged for renaming, I assumed since I hadn't logged in for a week anything could have happened. So I simply removed a space in my name and carried on. Once I checked my in-game mail I saw that it had been intentionally flagged and I was warned that if this happens again my account may be permanently banned.

TLDR: I went from using Johnny *** to JohnnyTits and now idk if I'm going to get my account removed, what do I do?

Let me get this straight, you were told to rename and you thought the "space" was the issue with your name? Yep, I am done.

P.S. If you really did this and aren't a troll, then I have half a mind to report you again myself, geez.

    (edited to add P.S.)

Huh, *** is offensive, period. You put it in there KNOWING it was wrong, and now you are worried about it?

I suggest you ask for a total rename before you end up getting reported more.

Its like the time I called my character 'soapytitwank' and it got flagged. I assume for not using a capital 'S'

Lol, your name was flagged because the last name you use, not the space lol.

I'd recommend you get in touch with customer service and work out a name change. I'm not sure if you're just excessively daft or trolling, but the word t!ts would not be considered proper and will get you banned eventually.

Your two names, one is an old nickname for male genitalia and the other is a crude nickname for female breasts... Dude, you got what you deserved for refusing to follow their naming policy on sexual references.

As it's uhm ... against the EULA?

Feel free to use it IRL though. Maybe get it changed on your SS Card!

Oh and one more little piece of advice for the future. When picking a name for games and forums it is best to leave out any anatomical references.

I would like to thank the OP for making me laugh so much I can't sleep.

If its a troll, genius. If its real, its still genius in its own twisted nonsensical inside out way.

Got to watch those spaces, can get you in loads of trouble!

I would like to explain: JohnnyTits is actually a character from a web comic that I enjoy, hence I used it.
As for how I renamed myself, yeah, I did something stupid. If anyone could please direct me, I would like to know how to properly contact customer support so that I could rename myself something that can be deemed non-offensive and I can carry on playing the game.

That would be another issue, apart from the "***" portion, I think. Don't the Terms say that you're also not supposed to use the name of fictional characters owned by others, etc?

I think it hilarious he also picked it as a forum name. It makes you select another name and he was all like 'yup lets roll those dice yet again'.

Fyi cultural reference names are also not allowed else there would be 100000 tyrion lannisters running around eso.

Oh... in that case you should definitely change it due to possible copyright infringement.

If so, it would have been more effective to say "trademark," since that might protect a name. But I've seen people refer to copyright protection for fictional character names often enough, particularly on online forums, that I know a lot of people make that mistake. Most of the time, I find they would rather learn that copyright doesn't apply that continue on with a misconception about the issue.

I'm tempted to delete the character instead of requesting to get it renamed to avoid risking my account... Do you think I should do that? Or wait until support contacts me back.

Regardless of whether or not trademarks will get Zenimax or the user in trouble (strictly legally, they probably could, but I doubt anyone really gives a damn), the naming of your account name expressly forbids it. "You will not create an account name that is in reference to or contains copyright names, popular characters, or the names of modern era serial killers, individuals or groups who have committed crimes against humanity in the past." Section 2.3 of the Code of Conduct. While it's talking about account names, I imagine it would apply to character names as well.

I read the code of conduct earlier today, a little too late. At this point I really just want to erase this embarrassing mistake.

While I, admittedly, find your plight highly amusing for not considering the issue people had with your name (I've never heard of the character, myself, and I doubt most others you run into have either), I wouldn't go as far as deleting the character. Simply make a support ticket, explain the issue (including that you didn't think that it was the breast reference that got you reported) and ask for another forced name change. I figure they'll give one happily. If you want to play while you wait, I'd make a new character rather than playing with JohnnyTits, but I wouldn't delete it myself.

Doesn't seem likely, given the standards for trademark infringement. But they definitely are against the TOS, as you say.

Thank you very much for your response, it's nice that someone gave me actual advice, I've submitted a support ticket already and got a response. Everything seems to be okay now.

If you put in any other tickets or comms.. be sure to tell them you will not play that character anymore until the change. This will let them know you are serious about not wanting to offend anyone.

Play an alt till it is changed.
