you can just leave the group. problem solved

Have you considered just porting to a house?
I agree that there should be an easier faster way to leave dungeons. All should have conveniently placed exit doors / portals or “Press [] to leave dungeon” as OP suggests.

Imagine having nobody in your friend list or in your guilds to port to, while worrying about spending 146 golds for travel. Better be a f'ing troll tbh.

And travel to a guild mate works just as well. That is how I usually leave a dungeon.
This is a case that Zos cannot please everyone and should make decisions that are good for the overall game as they did with lengthening the timer before being kicked. There is an easy work around to leave faster but not one to stay longer.

Yes, of course, but in some dungeons this is quite far away, at the beginning only, or beyond additional enemies.
I confess I am just used to having a nearby exit or “Click [] to leave instance” from other games, but porting out is easy enough. I don’t know why I’ve always been leaving group or spelunking for the exit!

There is no easy way to get back to the place you were at before the dungeon. Either wait the now long wait time, or spend a lot of extra time travelling back to your location. Not in any way good overall, but a step back. Most dungeon quests dont need that extra lengthened timer; so it's just an inconvenience in most cases. The fix is inappropriate to the problem.

yes, and many dungeons the exit is quite a run to reach. This new change, and that which you suggest, is not and improvement, it is regression.

Its an incredible improvement for anyone who's turning in the quest or watching the final cutscenes, who formerly used to get unceremoniously kicked out by the timer if their group members weren't considerate enough to wait for them to finish up. Which is why the extension was added after many requests.
It's not an improvement if you always left group and stood around waiting for the timer to kick you out free of charge.
Where were you 5 weeks ago when this was announced? You have even been in the forums while this was on the PTS yet I do not see you commenting on it during that cycle. 5 weeks ago was when Zos asked for feedback on this. Waiting for it to go live is a little late

Leaving through exit is appropriate in WoW Classic. But this is not WoW classic.

I think this thread went awry because people are reading it as saying the increased length of time to being removed from instance was a bad thing, and certainly it was an improvement to give people time to finish quests! But it is not invalid to point out that further QoL could be implemented.

It IS a bad thing, because it is being enforced on everyone, also those that dont need or want it. It's what zos usually does to "fix" things. They fire a shotgun: "problem solved". Im just dissapointed that they do this after so much time and wait. It's a design flaw, a simple button "Press F to leave dungeon" would work wonders, no one would be forced and any who wanted to stay would just not press the button, and those wanted to leave would. I mean it could hardly be more simple and they could implement it in no time, yet... of course we aint getting that. It boggles my mind why not, but its the same old song.

It would seem that not kicking anyone from a completed instance but just having a handy exit or “Click [] to leave instance” would please everyone (and not remove the porting option that’s always existed) so I must assume the issue is needing to close the instance in a timely manner for server function?
In any case, I do think lengthening the time to kick is an improvement, even if not the ideal one, as before people had no way to complete certain quests if the rest of the group bailed whereas we’ve always had the option to leave.
People are replying to OP without even giving this 2 seconds' thought. Today was a good example of how badly thought-out the change was. Today's DLC pledge was Bloodroot Forge. Unlike most dungeons, this one has no portal or any other way to go back to the beginning. Waiting for two minutes to get out of the dungeon after voluntarily leaving the group (because the content was done) is a waste of time. Porting to a home/guildie/buddy may help, but as has been pointed out can lead to several otherwise unnecessary loading screens. It would have been trivial to extend the timer only if the player wished (e.g. through a prompt asking whether they wish to remain in the instance).themaddaedra wrote: »This is the thing to complain about now? Nobody is obligated to go on the PTS and test things under penalty of losing their right to speak out. I don't go on the PTS any more, and don't have to justify myself for not doing it. It's not like OP made a scandal about it. They simply pointed out that it's not working properly in certain scenarios.Where were you 5 weeks ago when this was announced? It's not as if you don't have a half dozen other options. The people trying to get just a few seconds more, in some cases, had none.
- Port to house.
- Port to Guildie.
- Port to Friend.
- Port to Wayshrine.
- Use the Exit.
- Log to another character.
- Wait a handful more seconds..
- Almost missed one: Exit group and requeue...
Pro-tip: Port to a groupmate before you disband...it will take you right to the portal, which is usually right by the door.People are replying to OP without even giving this 2 seconds' thought.
